Hi everyone. i just recently purchased my first mod which is a clone from fast tech i will get into the order later..prior to this i have only used ego style vapes including the vision spinner. On fast tech i ordered a SMPL Clone, Some 25 gauge kanthal https://www.fasttech.com/products/1995200 , a Plume veil clone, and a patriot v3 clone... on amazon i purchased a 2 pack of samsung 18650 batteries and a bunch of other necessities on fast tech such as a coil building jig, ohm meter, and a bunch of eliquid also some drip tips.

What build should i do that will create big clouds but also safe..What safety tips should i know as i am new to this form of vaping.

Thanks,
Jonah

Got a battery charger yet?
Battery charger and volt reader!
coming from ego vape basics, i would start a bit smaller if I were you.
there's a helluva difference and learning curve between carto/clearo vaping and mech/RDA vaping.
apples and fucking oranges my friend.
mech and drip might just be your thing but at the same time, it might be overkill And turn you off.
sorry to sound like a dick but if you don't have a build plan yet then you probably jumped the gun and didn't read enough.

the charger is just a standard ultrafire travel charger...i hated the ego setup and the simple ce4 tanks. I know jumping to a mech mod and rda is a bit too much but i would like to get into this more. I also ordered a ohm reader on fasttech and i have a multimeter already.

The stuff's been ordered so let's help him get a plan together before it shows up. At least he's here asking questions.
Noted And I agree.
I can't offer a build but I can advise to stay away from stronger flavors until you have a grasp on the difference between what you had and what you'll soon have.

use this website http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/ohmslawcalculators.asp to keep your ohms in line with what your battery can handle. in this case 20 amps continuous, so stay above 0.2 ohms

You should get a different charger. Xtar, efest luc and nitecore chargers are the generally accepted brands. Any battery or charger with fire in the name is not even recommended for use with flashlights. Get a cheap digital multimeter too.

I missed the part earlier where you said you had a multimeter already. When you get your mod and atty, completely disassemble everything, inspect and clean everything really well. Because it's all mechanical, it needs to be free of burrs, shavings, and anything else that can cause bad connections or shorts. Left over machine oil is common in Chinese gear and you don't want to vape it. That process will also familiarize you with all the parts, how they go together, how any adjustments are made and how the electrical circuit is opened and closed. You should be intimately familiar with your mechanical mods and rebuildable atomizers.

Pay attention to this. The SMPL requires you ensure two things are happening.
First, the atomizer will make direct contact with the battery. Because of this, the positive pin on the atomizer MUST extend past the end of the atomizers 510 threading so ONLY the positive pin touches the top of the battery. If the 510 threading touches it you create a short. That's bad.
Second, the plastic wrapper on the battery provides insulation between the battery and the switch because the switch is screwed in and gently tightened down against the battery. If the wrapper doesn't insulate the two it will be like constantly pushing the fire button.

Pay attention to the continuous amp rating on your batteries and the resistance on your build. An ohm reader is a MUST when building on a mech mod. This will help you figure out how many amps you're running based on the build. http://www.steam-engine.org/ohm.asp
A fully charged battery will be pushing 4.2 volts, a little less when you figure in the voltage thats lost into the mod itself, but for safety i always enter 4.2. Don't wait until a battery explodes in your hand to take it seriously, it happened to me last week and i'm lucky to have my fingers/face! As long as you stay within the limitations of your batteries its all fun and games! Have fun!

Just take it slow at first and don't go for anything fancy with your first build.

I would even go so far as to suggest you limit yourself to single coil builds until you have that mastered before trying a dual coil or anything fancy.

And always check the resistance of the coil and check for shorts.

I'd get some more wire too. A1 kanthal 26 and 24g for starters. You'll end up building a lot in the first couple months
before you find what builds you prefer. I make it a habit to inspect the coils and clipped wire leads at every dry burn.
After the dry burn and it's re wicked, I inspect the coils again. As was mentioned above, all to avoid shorts.

Are your Samsung batteries the 25r? Sorry if I missed that.

What happens if you create a short with the atomizer not touching the battery? I've seen forum threads on exploding batteries if the battery starts to heat do you just take it out and get as far away as possible?

I've never done it but from what I hear/read, it isn't good. You want current to go up through the positive post, through
the coil/coils down the negative posts, past the 510 threads, down the body of the mech and full loop of circuit at the button.

You do not want to bypass the coils, they are the only thing keeping this circuit from battery overload. The same reason you want
to stay building within the batteries maximum continuous discharge capabilities.

Even a safe build can end in failure if the mod auto fires without your awareness. Last fall I was out and about with my mech.
I use a cellphone belt clip case for keeping a mech or two when out. Well, I'd forgotten to lock the ring on my brass stingray and
put it in the case and then in my inner coat pocket. I walked a city block before I realized it was firing away in there. Build was .4
and the battery was a sony vtc4. The mod was so hot I could barely unscrew and remove the battery. That is why it's a good Idea
to build within the max continuous discharge current rather than the pulse current. Build on the edge of a batteries ability, and I for one
do not want to be near it if it's auto firing.

Another thing about the SMPL. Screw the atomizer all the way in until it stops first, then insert the battery, then screw in the switch and gently snug it down. Also make sure the clip that holds the switch together is fully seated in the groove. My stainless steel SMPL just arrived today. I am loving this thing already.
