What reputable brand's coils do you think this tank takes?

Just wanting to poll the community knowledge here. A recent acquaintance of mine, an older guy, was showing me his first APV kit, bought just a few days ago. He basically spent a few minutes online, a bought one of those rebranded box mod kits from the first slick looking website he found. He showed me the invoice, and damn, don't you just have these fucking sites, aimed at newbies, that sell products with who knows what under the hood for ridiculous markups? They took him for nearly $300 for a 100 watt lipo box mod, a tank, a pack of coils, and a 30ml bottle of juice ($35 of that was for shipping, the assholes don't even offer free shipping when you're buying $250+ worth of their overpriced wares).

Anyways, I don't want the guy giving anymore money to these con artists, and I'm sure this rebranded tank of theirs will work with some other brands' coils, maybe Kanger? I only go rebuildable, so I'm not really up on my factory coil knowledge.

Here's the link, please check it out and let's help this guy save some $ and not support these sites which gouge the newbies:

Thanks!

That square atty in the tank looks like a Kanger clone. Then there's the round RBA, which looks like a Kanger clone.

But don't take my word for it. Anyone else want to weigh in?

I'll third the others - that's either a Kanger Subtank Mini or original Subtank...they're now using round coils instead of square, not sure if those are reverse-compatible or if you need the squares...

Thanks guys! Thanks what I thought. I'm pretty sure the coil in his tank was square, so that means it's a Subtank clone, and should take those square coils for a Kanger Subtank?

#4 - looks to me like a Kanger clone. FYI, the square is the replaceable coil head, the round part is the first version of the RBA that came with the Kanger Subtanks. I got the same RBA w/ my Kanger Subtank Plus.

Vaping 360 did a review on this. It is a litely modified Kanger sub mini with better o-rings to prevent leaks, larger juice flow on RBA, longer warranty, packaged with 30 ml juice, etc.

I'd be very surprised if it didn't take all the Kanger sub coils, both square and round, as well as VaporWerks, Atom G, and other 3rd party.

Given this is new and warranted, can it be returned? It would be easy to get a Kanger top tank, and maybe a mini volt mod and he'd have a nice set up for a quarter the price. Why anyone would need 100w for a Kanger is beyond me. I'm not current on the subox and other Kanger kit combinations, but those would also be fine.

In normal cases that's definitely what I'd recommend. Unfortunately (in this case), we're all expats living in central Mexico. He had it sent to his wife while she was in the states recently so she could bring it down for him, so I think a return is probably too much to ask of him. And he has been enjoying his shiny new device, so I erred away from being too open with what I thought of the purchase.

Thanks though for comments on other coils that should work in it. Now I can do some research on what's popular with Subtank users.

I got mediocre-at-best performance from any of my Subtank-derivative devices, and never ran any above 25 watts or so. So 100 is beyond overkill, though battery life is a plus. My wife, however, was a huge Subtank devotee for a solid 10 months...until I bought her a Crown.

It is actually made by kanger but yes rebranded and overpriced. I'v been to one of vapor fi retail locations in Miami and the place was empty. When I started asking questions it was apparent they were selling to the uninformed market at an inflated price and even offered to take 50% off the 60.00 price of that same tank. Sales must be slow at those prices. I passed.

If he has the RBA, you can get the kanger RBA v2 with much better juice flow from just about any trusted retailer for about $10 shipped. Get the base from FT since they ship for free anywhere in the world. While you're at it, get the 5-pack of bell caps too. I believe FT has the RBA sections too. In any case you can set him up with extra tanks and parts for about $30.

When the Vapor Fi Vox 1 came out a couple years ago, it was competing with the "newly released" Eleaf IStick, so at 40 watts, it was high end because of its build quality and performance. It was quickly overshadowed by all the new VW devices coming out, and the $150.00+ price tag made them basically obsolete. The 50W TC Vox Is a quality device imo, but way overpriced. Too bad that gentleman didn't do some research. Could have done much better for way cheaper...
