Considering getting a new tank, but which one should I pick up?
Updated 02.21.18
  1. Asmodus Zesthia - 24mm single 4.5ml <= Decided to buy this one!
  2. EHPRO Bachelor X - 25mm single coil 3.5/5.0Bml
  3. VandyVape Kylin Mini - 24.5mm single coil 3.0/5.0Bml
  4. GeekVape Blitzen - 24 mm single/double 2.0/5.0Bml
  5. VandyVape Govad - 24mm single coil 4.0ml
I choose these, most likely in that order, because I like the way each looks and wanted to avoid a tower look with a capacity over 4ml.. so basically opted for a bubble look over a high rise type tank such as the VadyVape Kylin. Also prefer a single coil and no pref on deck style.
If there is another tank that fits the description please let me know. If you have some personal insight with any of these tanks please share. I’ve read and watched numerous reviews for a bunch also.

I currently have:
Wotofo Serpent SMM
GeekVape Griffin 25 Mini
Vaporesso NRG subohm

Ahh the Wake Mod Co. Wake RTA.. not a fan of the color scheme (gold) and it’s only 3.2ml. I do like the stock frosty delrin tip tho..
I believe they have various colors. I happened to get the gold one tho.

updated original post for Blitzen in second place because the Govad, at 4ml, is pretty close to the Serpent SMM I already have..

It's an older RTA, but the Serpent SMM is nice. It doesn't have a bubble tank though it is relatively short.

Aren’t all the chimney gold.. just the color of the top cap and air flow changes..

I'm not sure to tell you the truth...I thought I seen various colors when I bought it.

Been using it for about two weeks...with a .10 single coil...the flavor is impeccable...
I’ll look into it a little more but the capacity is less then my serpent SMM (4ml)...

I looked at Govad, and Blitzen but haven’t tried any of those 3.
Decided on Kylin Mini - Single coil, short, 5ml, 2 drip tips, excellent flavor
http://www.vandyvape.com/detail/atomizer/Kylin_Mini_RTA/
That’s a good one! Thanks, I’ve added in the number two spot..it’s actually a toss up between the Bachelor and Kylin-mini..
I think we have a similiar mindset in what we are looking for in a tank..

I like the design of Bachelor X. Ya have to take post screws out to mount coil. Not too big a deal tho. Have you checked out Asmodus Zesthia ? Same thing only different.
I suppose if I had a jig to cut coil legs to be same length for Blitzen in dual mode, I’d be a bigger fan.

Vandy Vape's customer service is worse than horrible. They obviously could care less about who buys their products. I will never buy anything from them ever again.

The obs crius II is a really good single coil rta for consideration. Just got one and I’m really enjoying it. Easy to build and wick and the flavour is excellent
I have that one as well and would also highly recommend it. Been looking for a replacement bubble since its approx 3.5ml and haven't found one. But like some others with <5ml, it's easy and worth it.

Ya considered that but decided to pass on the top fill hole design.. it does have its benefits tho..
(Doesn’t create pressure in the tank when closing. So you don’t need to burp it to avoid leakage.)

It’s a good review. The only thing I heard from another reviewer is the wicking can be a bit tricky although it doesn’t look like it would be
You know how things have a way they like to be wicked. Not tricky, just diff.

Man I never heard of this tank before so thanks for sharing.. After checking it out on various reviews/tutorials and such I think it’s my number 1 pick..
https://www.asmodus.com/Zesthia-RTA-p/asmodus-zesthia-rta.htm

Made that choice based on capacity with out a bubble tube and love the hotdog deck and angled airflow.

TBH I was also considering the Advken Dominator also because it uses the same coils as my NRG. The two are actually real similiar in specs and the RBA deck ‘should’ be interchangeable without the need to go find a diff size glass tube, like if I went with the SMOK TFV8 RBA. But then it got me thinking why would I want two tanks sharing one RBA? So I crossed it off my list. Maybe if the RBA is available as a stand alone purchase someday I’ll pick it up.

Seriously the more I look at the Asmodus Zesthia, the more I’m falling for it!
Thanks again Vape Fan!

I got the gold Zesthia mainly because of @PJReid love of it. As @PJReid has noted Asmodus hasn’t really promoted this new rta of theirs. I think someone mentioned that they are concentrating on promoting their squonk mods on facebook.

It’s definitely a nice RTA, its well made, single coil, nice airflow & nice flavor! It’s easy to coil & wick as well. It’s definitely without a doubt tons better than the Wotofo SMM that I have, better made, quieter & smoother airflow. I’m really enjoying it! Love the capacity as well. Just a note that they dont include a 510 adaptor it doesnt bother me though as I like the included driptip. PJReid posted that she has gotten a 510 adaptor from Myvaporstore that fits & looks great.

There’s a thread on ECF https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/threads/asmodus-zesthia-rta.848685/

I was torn between getting the Zesthia & the VV Kylin Mini Rta. I went with the Zesthia first & after @mjag review whom I trust btw, I succumbed & ordered the Kylin Mini too yesterday ;)

I love, love, love the Asmodus Zesthia. It is the best single coil tank that no one is talking about. I took a chance when I bought it as there were only two YT reviews and very little out there about it. I liked the look of the tank and liked the deck. I don't love postless decks so the Zesthia deck appealed to me. One reviewer said it was tricky to wick, but that has not been true in my experience. The flavor beats Zeus, OBS Crius II, and OBS Engine Nano. I will probably buy a Kylin Mini because I love rainbow colorways in tanks. @Heartsdelight has the Zesthia and has ordered the Kylin Mini. I plan to wait until she tells me how they compare. We have similar tastes in vape gear. I honestly don't think anyone would regret purchasing the Zesthia.

Would love your thoughts on the kylin mini

I received the kylin mini as a giveaway prize and it came in the reviewer packaging that's marked as sample. I don't know if the current retail version still has the issues mine has, or if it has been fixed. Therefore take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The package did not include the tool, that is needed to loosen the metal topper that holds the glass and chimney in place, without it there's no way to get the bubble tank installed and you will be stuck with the small glass, that is installed by default. I used the one that came with my kensei, since the kylin mini was clearly remodeled after that, but more about that later.

The build deck is beautiful and very easy to build on, especially when using bigger builds & wires, however just like a lot of other decks it does have a limit. I could fit up to 4.0 mm staggered and up to 3.5 triple strand Clapton in there, quad core was only possible @ 3mm, using 28/30 & 32 gauge wire. Anything thicker/wider/bulkier and you will hit the inside of the tank, even if you place the coil just above airflow.

Which we will speak off now, clearly the kylin mini was remodeled after the kensei, that has that nice honeycomb airflow and works fantastic as such with the dual coil setup, but the kylin mini is a single coil RTA and this half round honeycomb airflow is beautiful but a lot and wasn't really needed. In comparison to the kensei, the kylin mini has a adjustable bottom airflow, but it doesn't do a great job at that. Normally adjusting bottom airflow on a single coil should increase flavor, sadly in this example it rather mutes the flavor.

Also the coil have to be placed as close to the airflow as possible and that can become an issue with bigger diameter coils. Depending on the coil you're using, due to the high and centered positioning this causes massive spit back. You can avoid that with spacing the coil a bit, but you will end up mostly with some wraps not directly being hit by the airflow anymore and we are talking 5-6 wraps here, more and you're even further out of luck, exception single round wire builds.

Or adding more cotton, but the kylin mini's wicking channels aren't going to support that. Let's talk about that, the wicking slots are not caged as I call it, there's no direct posts/slots/structure that would hold the wicking in place. On one side its easier to wick but in most cases is much more of a nightmare. The way these little grooves are designed you'll be able to lay/place the cotton right into that, too the left and right are your threads and sure enough, the moment you place too much cotton in there, your tank won't close. Too little and you'll get leakage. So having the correct amount of cotton, with this RTA is crucial and very unforgiving.

Pro's:

Flavor is subjective, however I do give that as a huge pro, its spot on and actually very close/similar to the flavor output of an RDA, instead of an RTA.
It doesn't get hot quickly even when chain vaped.
It supports bigger builds.
Honeycomb Airflow (looks of it, as well as being smooth)
Beautiful resin drip tip, that comes in different colors depending on the RTA you chose. (This might have changed too with the retail version, because I've seen a couple with frosted drip tips or just solid drip tips, instead of the dark blue resin version I received with the silver kylin mini RTA.)

Con's:

Too much air, closing off or half way off will just mute the flavor severely.
Leakage : its not like the old kylin, but you can't lay it on its side or purge before hits, even if wicked correctly it will leak. Not much tho, but every 5-10 hits, you'll have to put some tissue into the airflow and let it soak.
Airflow difficult to adjust, wish there would of been a little stopper or something, because as it stands now the moment you try adjusting your airflow, the tank screws off
It doesn't come with the necessary tool to remove the topper of the glass, to be able to switch to the bubble glass. Again I do have the sample version, maybe its included in the retail version.
The look in general, and yes that's my personal con, but its too much like the kensei. There are so much creative ways they could have done/used but they chose the full on reassembly of the kensei.
Its very loud, and so more you close off the airflow, so louder it gets. While the airflow itself is smooth as mentioned in my pro's, I'm not going to hide the noice it makes. Some people might like that tho.

After all would I personally purchase another one? Sad to say but I pass. Vandy vape does have a lot of amazing products, that I would recommend and purchase even more than one, but the kylin mini is not one of them, sorry.

I'd go with the Blitzen or Zesthia. Like the side airflow on the Blitzen like an rda. Also like that the airflow holes on the Zesthia are off to the side and angled towards the coil which should alleviate some leak concerns.

I've heard too many bad things about Vandy to even consider anything they make and there's so many other choices available on the market I can easily find something else that peaks my interest.
