Hey all,

This may seem crazy, but every time I wick my Mutation V4, little drips of juice fly in my mouth. I'm going to assume I put too much juice in it. But I could be wrong. Any tips on this?

It may help your problem to lower the coils, and move them away from the center post a bit. Sometimes spitback is unavoidable, but that should help. You should move em properly though, pull the wicks and use the tool you wrapped them with. Slide it back in the coils, move em down and away a little. Dry-fire em re-wick etc. it should help. Ideally you want em pretty close to the air holes, but make sure they don't touch the cap and short out :)

Cotton looks a tad loose on the lower coil in the picture. That allows for juice to super heat and create jets of vapor which will naturally bring ejiuce with them.

Just got my mutation x v4. Amazing flavor and cloud profile. Only downside I am seeing is that the top cap doesn't go all the way down to the atty. Other than that it's quite good!

Sorry for late reply, I went to the vape shop shortly after you this thread and the guy redid the cotton and it spits less.

looked like the wicking was off or you've got those coils cranked all the way and and it's frying juice and throwing it up in the process...as I recommend to vapors new to cloud chasing or RDA's here is my standard library of reading to help you get off to the right start.

You got a point. I can't build coils for shit. I've tried many times.
Take the time and learn. Being dependent on a vape shop to fix such a simple problem is absolutely insane.
In the end, youll spend more time and money paying the shop to do it, than if you had taken the time and learned it for you self. What if your on vacation (or 50+miles from a vape shop) and you drop your mod and your coil shorts out on the cap? You need to know how to fix this stuff!

When your ready to cut "the vape shop umbilical cord", there are alot of people here (including myself) who would be happy to help you with any questions or problems you have. If you dont want to make a post, PM one of us.

You have a point. Funny thing is, I recently gave making a coil a go. I came out terrible as it was my first build. I felt like a little kid on Christmas when I seen my build glow orange hot. It wasn't usable, but I tried. I'm gonna make a post now.

Making coils will not be perfect at first but the more you make them, the easier it becomes.
That is the joy have having ceramic tipped tweezers. They will help you get a good squeeze on your coil while red hot.
No matter how loose your coil wraps are, as long as they are mostly close together. You can easily get them tight with your tweezers once you pulse your device as you get the coil positioned and such just right.

I dont know about you guys, but I use locking pliers to hold my wire and drill bit as I wrap. I see guys doing it all with their fingers, but thats never worked for me.

If someone did that build for me for free I would be disappointed. If I paid for it I would be pissed. Terrible coil placement and wicking. You can do it better yourself. I use stuff I had laying around the house to setup a build station that frees up my hands and helps me get good results. Just food for thought. Don't give up on building your own stuff. Good luck.

Could get a coil jig or coiling device
For the cost of have a shop do a few coils or rewicking, you could buy the supplies needed to make a lifetime supply of coils.

Coil Master Coiler is excellent, and under $15
http://store.rbasupplies.com/coil-master-coiler/
Can make pretty much perfect coils every time and works with many gauges and coil diameters.

Kanthal is pretty cheap. 100ft spools of many different gauges, think under $5 each. Only need a few inches at a time and the coils can last a couple months before needing replacement.

A bag of organic japanese cotton from amazon.com is $10-$15 and will literally last years, even with rewicking a few times a week. 80 pads in a bag, think I've used 3, maybe 4 pads in 6 months with rewicking 2-3 times a week.

002.JPG 003.JPG I go with the portable method. Any locking pliers will work to hold the drill bit or screwdriver your wrapping around, and any smaller locking pliers (or non locking pliers with a rubber band around the handles) will work. I then just hold them both in one hand and wrap.
To get your coils perfect, clamp both wire leads in your locking pliers and tug like mamasan earning her supper.
There are a hundred ways to get a decent finished product. 002.JPG 003.JPG

Yeah you have rdas you need to know how to rebuild it yourself. What some online videos on building coils and wicking. Then start to do it, takes practice but it is simple.
