This is a call for vapers who also have edited wikipedia in the past or who would like to edit wikipedia to do something that could impact new vapers and possibly even effect policy that will effect present vapers.
Please consider getting involved.
A lot of people use wikipedia as a first stop for information. New vapers, those that are interested in learning about vaping, and even politicians. Sadly those that will look at the Wikipedia article on e-cigarettes will find nothing but information designed to scare them away. Politicians will find reasons to take away our freedoms to vape. Anti smopking people will find something to harass politicians with.
Why is that you may ask? Well a bunch of doctors and anti smoking advocates have turned the article into one big anti-vaping article. How they did this was placing the article in the medical category. They then used special rules about medical articles to silence anything that isnt a medical reference. They even have silenced medical papers (McNiel) because of what type of reference it is, so no answer to the false claims of the World Health Orginazation report are allowed.
The ecigarette most of us use and love is a consumer product. But that isnt how its classified on Wikipedia. and as such it is left to anti-smoking nuts to spew forth only their side. if you have ever edited Wikipedia before the article needs you. If you want to start to edit the article needs you. What we dont need is advertisements and commercial links, those will be removed fast. But we only need those that are willing to work within the Wikipedia framework. Consensus is important, the more voices we have the better.
If you are interested, check out the Talk page for the ecigarette article, the real battleground. Comment on things, read and learn. You can make a difference.
If you dont want to or cant, please pass this along to others who can and will. Even spreading the word is a good thing. The community has lots of bright energetic people.
Thanks
