The new Justice League Dark comic series by writer James Tynion IV and artist Alvaro Martinez is only three issues in, but it’s already had a huge impact on Wonder Woman in the form of a new power that comes from a scary event in her past.

The series thus far has seen a dark force catch the attention of Wonder Woman, leading her to cross paths and team up with the likes of Zatanna, Detective Chimp, Swamp Thing, Man-Bat, and Constantine. We learn that all magic in the universe came from somewhere, and now something evil wants to take it back. Eventually the team comes face-to-face with the one responsible, an incredibly strong creature made of pure magic called the Upside-Down Man.
