Avatar Director James Cameron was on hand at Disney's D23 Expo today, revealing details of a new land for Disney's Animal Kingdom: Pandora - The World of Avatar.
Cameron said that with the theme park, “There is storytelling involved” and the approach was, “Let’s create a narrative.” The idea is that you are in Pandora, “After the war. The gunships are all down and rusting in the jungle. Humans are being welcomed to Pandora.”
Disney’s Joe Rohde said,"You will not be revisiting great moments from the film. The adventure is yours. It’s yours on the planet."
The Avatar-themed land will include the same vistas seen in the film, including floating mountains and a bioluminescent forest. The bioluminescent effect from the film is a big part of the area. At night, it's all around. One video played at the panel showed a park guest walking around the area at night, leaving lit up steps behind them.
