These Secret Wars tie-ins have varied radically in how they treat their “source material”. Inferno serves as a sort of sequel to the original Inferno. Planet Hulk has absolutely nothing to do with Greg Pak’s beloved storyline of the same name. And now there is Years of Future Past, which essentially acts as a retelling of 1981’s Days of Future Past, but unfortunately not a better one.If you’ve read that story recently, you’re going to have a good idea of where this issue is going. In fact, most of the same beats of the original are echoed here, and at times, recreated exactly. It’s so uncomfortably close to the original that the lines between homage and recycling are often blurred.
