Full Disclosure:
Let’s get all the disclosures out of the way. This RDA was sent to me directly from Vandyvape specifically for the purposes of this review. This will not in any way, shape, or form cause me to give this RDA a favorable review or change my opinion in any way.
First Impression Out Of The Box:
Looks well machined and clean. Everything is packaged nice and tight. Whooh! Whats this? Three drip tips? Why yes it is. This RDA comes with three drip tips. Very nice Vandyvape. It’s just great to not have to be stuck with one short chuff style drip tip.
What’s In The box:
In the box you get the Govad RDA, a phillips head screwdriver, spare o'rings, spare deck screws, spare negative post screw, a 510 drip tip adapter and as previously mentioned three drip tips.
From Top To Bottom:
Let's start off with the drip tips. Very impressed that Vandyvape included three. Two of the drip tips are the wider bore chuff cap style. The only difference between the two being the thickness of the outer diameter. One of them is 16mm wide the other is 17.5mm wide The third drip tip has a narrower bore and is taller, it measures 14mm in diameter. I have tried them all and I prefer the taller one the best. I like the fact that I can keep my lips further away from the metal top cap while chain vaping. Goon style drip tips will fit on this RDA as well.
The top cap has a slightly conical interior with four side airflow holes. It's made of SS and is really well machined just like the rest of the RDA. The four airflow holes coincide with the airflow holes on the barrel of the RDA. The barrel however has 6 airflow slots so at any give time you can only have four airflow holes open at one time. Four of the six airflow slots on the barrel are located at the ends of each coil. The other two airflow slots are directly across from where you place the cotton on the deck. Airflow is very smooth no matter which way you run this RDA. There is some branding present on the outside of the top cap. On one side the name Govad is present. On the other side is the Vandyvape logo. Both are done discreetly.
In addition to the multiple options that you have on the side airflow there is also adjustable bottom airflow as well. This is achieved by having two exterior airflow slots that run underneath the RDA to a single airflow tube located directly under the coil. This is the reason it would be impossible to have a squonking pin on this RDA.
All of the orings on this RDA are super tight right out of the box. It actually takes some effort to get the RDA apart for its first cleaning. However, once its cleaned make sure you juice up all the orings. After doing that the tension on all the movable parts is just about perfect.
The Deck:
The deck on the Govad is indeed a thing of beauty. It is a gold plated Pharaoh styled deck with airflow holes mounted directly under the terminals. Like the Pharaoh the clamps are spring loaded. This makes mounting coils super easy. The deck screws are also gold plated phillips head screws. The juice well is nice and deep. The deck itself has an internal diameter of 22mm. The Pharaoh style clamps are spring loaded and 24k gold plated. The air hole directly underneath your coil measures 3.8mm. There is a very large peek insulator on the positive side of the deck with air holes. This deck is suited for a single coil but I guess if you wanted you could run duals. Space between the two posts is a more than generous 8.5mm so you could easily fit a chunky 5mm coil in this deck.
On the bottom of the deck you have a gold plated adjustable 510 and some branding. The designers name is on the bottom of the RDA along with some serial numbers. There is also a screw for the negative post.
Building And Wicking:
Building and wicking this thing just could not be easier. The spring loaded clamp system makes mounting any type of coil easy as can be. One pro tip on building would be to make sure you mount your coils with the leads running on the bottom and not the top. It just insures that you can get the coil closer to the top of the center airflow tube. After you mount your coil you just wick her up and vape.
But Deuces, How Does She Vape:
I am absolutely loving the flavor I get off of this RDA. The flavor is just amazing. I am a big believer in bottom airflow. I believe it achieves the most intense flavor in most tanks and RDA’s. The airflow is just some of the smoothest I have ever had. I love all the adjustable airflow options this RDA affords. I have found that I like to put the four side airflow holes on all four corners on all four corners of the coil with the side airflow cracked open just a hair. Then I take the bottom airflow and run it wide open. For me this produces some intense flavor and great clouds.
At first I have to admit I thought because of the airflow tube being directly under the coil that dripping down the middle was going to be a problem. Not true, if you run a wide enough coil you can drip right down the middle. If you run a skinny coil then you will have to take the top cap off and paint your coil instead of dripping down the middle.
Right now I am running a Hawk Kanthal Juggernaut on the Govad. I am ohming out at about .3 ohms on top of my Hexohm V3. I have the potentiometer set at 75% and I get an intense, flavorful, beautiful, satisfying, cloudy vape. Most of my friends that vape can’t believe that I am running a single coil. The vapor production is that good.
Conclusion:
For sure this RDA is Deucesjack approved. The machining, vape quality, and deck are just outstanding. The guy that designed this RDA used to design for Geekvape and it shows. They definitely got their first one right. It is really going to be hard to find any cons on this RDA. It just does everything it is supposed to do very well. So if you like single coil RDA’s and you are all about the flavor then the Govad is a must have.
A little side note about the name Govad because I know it will be brought up. Out of curiosity I looked up the meaning. It actually means wind in Persian mythology.
