Well, I think I've procrastinated trying this flavor out for quite long enough; it keeps poking at me, wanting me to mix some up and try it out. Since I've never tried either Cherimoya, in any form, or INW Shisha Vanilla, I thought I would run a recipe past any of you that are familiar with those flavors, see whatcha think.

INW Cherimoya 4%
INW Shisha Vanilla 3%
CAP Sweet Cream 2%
TFA Sweetener 0.5%

Some of you may recall that in general I prefer recipes that use 20% or more flavoring, but since I've never tried the main flavors of this recipe, I thought it might be a good idea to start low, and see if I can taste it at all.

Any comments, opinions, suggestions for this recipe? Think it might need a steep, being so low in flavoring? How long, d'ya reckon? If it turns out that I really can't taste it at all, I may double up on at least the Cherimoya and Shisha Vanilla flavors.

Thx!

I had that problem a few weeks ago and i tried your way... to go above 20%... and it was okay but then i tried to use 4-5 flavours from 0.5% to 2% max 10-12% flavouring... it is quite better i can feel the same strong flavour witch i felt at 20% +. :D

All things considered in your case I'd start with the Cherimoya stand alone first so you can set a baseline on the correct amount that you can actually taste.
Other flavors might over power it especially when trying new flavors together.
Don't think I'd use any sweetener at first either tho.
Really doesn't need any steeping either IMO.

Hmm.. so maybe just mix up a quickie 5ml, maybe 5% cherimoya? I really can't imagine being able to taste any less than 5% flavoring, I was only going with 4% in the recipe since I was layering other flavors with it.

If i was using TFA's Vanilla Swirl, I think that 3% might be about right for that flavor, but I haven't tasted the shisha vanilla yet, so it's just a wild guess at 3%.

Yeah i would never go over 10-15 percent for any one flavor; shisha strawberry is the only one i've found that actually works to use that much, and I've brought it down from 16% to 14.5%.

Going over 20% flavoring, i would always use 4-5 flavors.

I was also wondering about maybe adding some TFA Cheesecake Graham to the Creamy Cherimoya recipe... would cherimoya be good with a cheesecake flavor? I never even heard of cherimoya before I was a vaper and started following various INW threads, so I'm really completely in the dark on that flavor.

so maybe just mix up a quickie 5ml, maybe 5% cherimoya?

That's somewhat what I did. (but 15mls)

I suggest, after sampling single flavor 5%, take some out and add 1% Fa fresh cream to 5mls and 2% vanilla swirl to 5mls. Sample. Depending on that result, add more creamy flavoring to the two cutouts or combine parts of them together. To taste.

I'll admit I and not a huge Cherimoya fan. I tried it in 6 recipes and for me it's ~okay~, but there are far too many other flavors I like better. ( and I can only vape so much. :))

I'm just curious, since I never even heard of cherimoya before. And I'm a bit of a "picky eater" (pain in the ass) about fruits, not too many that I really love, so it would be good to try and expand my horizons. And I thought I'd try the Shisha Vanilla; I know I like Vanilla Swirl, but haven't yet tried the Shisha Vanilla, and everyone raves about it... and I LERRRRRRRRRRRRVE vanilla. :D Fuck a chocolate, gimme vanilla ANYDAY!

Actually I thought I'd make up 6ml for a tester; it keeps the ml's "even" instead of going into thousandths -- my 1ml syringes can handle hundredths of a ml, but not thousandths, and in such small quantities, I like to be as accurate as I possibly can.

(and I don't really use FA flavors at all -- CAP's Sweet Cream is the BEST.)

Ok, I mixed up the cherimoya at 5%, with nothing except 5.5% of the Sweet Flash I use to get TH. The flavor isn't bad at all... but it's really... thin... very much as I perceived the shisha strawberry when I tried it at 4% and 8%. I'll keep taking a few hits, turning up the power from the break-in 9w, up to my usual 9.6w or 9.8w, and see if the additional power helps it any, but it's looking like it really does need the foundational flavors. Or maybe just more cherimoya, to really taste like anything much.

Is it just me, and my weird tastebuds, or does cherimoya sorta taste like dragonfruit?

The cheriyomoya is to me one of Inaweras weaker concentrates, I was using 5% of it in recipes, I would maybe from what you say even try 7-9% for your tastebuds. It is a weird one flavour wise, I get apple/mango/banana/caramel notes in it myself even though at the same time none of them. I loved cheriymoya at first, made zillions of recipes with it but could never get "the one" and got a bit tired of it in the end from over using it. I would say that for me anyway it worked best in custard/cream/yoghurt type recipes, I didnt find it worked in bakeries at all myself so wouldnt advise going for the ccake graham crust, but its all subjective.

Hmm ok. I had pretty much figured I was gonna need to go about twice as strong, but keeping those foundation flavors on the weaker side, so my proposed vanilla 3% and sweet cream 2% might be about right. But I do think I might go with Vanilla Swirl rather than Shisha Vanilla; I'm familiar with Vanilla Swirl, how it tastes, how much to use, so I can probably use it more delicately. And I do think a little bit of sweetener is needed, it's really not very sweet.

I think you're right about the delicacy of the flavor; with shisha strawberry, which I use at 14.5%, I use Vanilla Swirl at about 4%, and also TFA's DX bavarian cream at 5.x-ish (think it's currently around 5.4%). With those two foundation flavors together, in that quantity, it brings a strong custard platform under that strong strawberry, but I think that much of a custardy platform could easily overwhelm the cherimoya.

I use Vanilla Swirl at about 4%

Every time I went over 3% it got weird on me.
But probably has more to do with the ratio used when compared to the overall recipe itself.
TFA Vanilla Swirl tastes more like a Vanilla/Cream mixture to me whereas Shisha Vanilla is more like a plain Vanilla.
I've tried many fruits with just vanilla, or just cream, and they always fell a bit short for me.
The combo of the 2 used together tastes better than each one individually IMO.
You might get away with mixing Shisha Vanilla + Bavarian Cream, (or Sweet Cream).
Adding 1% INW Biscuit gives things a bit of something special.
But you may not even taste it at this low of an amount.

1% biscuit? That's plenty of that flavor to completely overwhelm everything else! I keep meaning to make a 10% pre-mix of the biscuit, it so completely overtakes a recipe, even at .5%, when used "straight."

As for the cherimoya... well, it wasn't bad, but I think I do need a lot more of the flavoring to get a real idea of the actual taste of it; maybe in that creamy cherimoya recipe, I need to bump the cherimoya to about 9%... but I also think it may be like the shisha strawberry, it really NEEDS the foundational flavors, to taste like much of anything. And it does need sweetener; I didn't find it disgusting without sweetener, but just... thin... blah... almost not-there, at just 5%, with no other flavors except my Sweet Flash, which has just a smidge of sweetener itself.

See, you can taste some flavors just fine:D

Good example of how different everyone's taste buds are tuned.

And I'm one of those unfortunates (along with @Slots) who thought for a long time that I would never be able to taste chocolate in a vape at all... but fortunately I gave Molinberry's Glamour Chocolate a try, and I actually *can* taste that. All the others were just a nice scent, without any flavor.

The cheriyomoya.... My family went on and on about how delicious and amazing this fruit is.... Being from Ecuador where it is supposed to originate from, they all would say its the "best"

A few decades ago, I went to visit Ecuador and its fruits were the highlight. Everywhere we went I was forced to taste these "jewels" of the fruit world.
I finally got to experience the cheriyomoya. It was nauseating. It was such an odd flavor, sort of like over ripe bananas with touches of other over ripe fruit.
It was sort of mushy, like some sort of tasteless over ripe banana yogurt.

Its one of those odd cactus like tree fruits. Its really fibrous before its ripe and squishy when ripe. I tend to like my fruit in the mid stage of ripeness. I dont like most fruits when most people say its at its ripe perfection. The cheriyomoya was un edible unless really ripe.

Im weird when it comes to fruit, so maybe Im not a good person to be giving any input. I think Dragon fruit and Passionfruit are better, but again, if I never eat either of them again in my life Id be happy.

Ecuador for me still brings memories of sweltering heat, squalor, and having gross fruits and really hard native alcohol forced upon me. The foods were great, I came home carrying an extra 15 lbs. The best parts of Ecuador, for me were the mountain areas. The capitol and all the other beautiful cities in the Andean areas were beautiful and the temp was similar to San Francisco. I loved it there. The beaches were pretty, but too damn hot and humid and boring.

Oh back to the cheriyomoya, like I said, some LOVE it, the best, most amazing..... but for me it was like so many my life's experiences , just blah and disappointing.

I'm very weird about fruits too; there are a lot I dislike intensely, and quite a few I can tolerate but sure wouldn't seek out... and even one or two that I can't even stand the thought of eating, fucking fuzzy green kiwis, I'm talking to YOU. Fuzzy and green usually means "mold" and I can't get away from that mindset.

I only used 5% in my experiment, so it was kinda weak, but it reminded me of what *I think* is dragonfruit, which is vaguely strawberry-ish, but with some other slight odd tang. I may give it another go later, using a higher percentage plus the base flavors (vanilla, cream, bit of sweetener) and see if I like it any better; I didn't hate it at all, but it just wasn't very exciting. I've seen a lot of recipes that mix it with other fruits, so maybe it's a good mixer, maybe with other lighter tastes, like blueberry or coconut. Sadly the only recipe that comes to mind pairs it with lime or lemon, and those are among the many I dislike except in very rare instances -- I used to love limes in gin and tonic, but I don't drink anymore, so I have no use for lime, and as for lemon... it's good on fish and shellfish, is about the best thing I can say about it. :D

Probably why some call it Custard Apple although I think it has more to do with the shape & texture rather than the taste.
Judging by your description the flavoring should be way better than the actual fruit, which I've never had.
At least I like the INW Cherimoya flavoring anyway.

LOL, Its gotta be something most people like or I cant imagine why people would want to replicate the taste.
Im just weird when it comes to fruit, well.... when it comes to a lot of things :)

SO many people is S. America and latin American countries LOVE it !!!!
Papaya is another fruit that I just dont get.... When its ripe I think its gross, when its not its kinda bland and odd to me. But I do like it in smoothies I found out. I like mango when they are in mid ripeness, when they are still a bit tart.

But the fruit I just dont get at all, are persimmons. My grandmother loved them , second after the Cherimoya. She'd buy them and let them get ripe and they looked like messed up tomatoes, all bruised , bumpy and squishy. She'd MAKE me taste them when I was young and I felt like hurling. When I got older I finally got the nerve to tell her I HATE them.

So Im not such a weirdo. Geez I loathe when all the family would get together, it would always end up with the "fruit reminiscing"
hahaha....my relatives love um, they live in Ecuador now....guess it's one of those fruits you have to acquire a taste for....which I haven't been able to do yet. The texture of the fruit is and smells like vomit to me.

The ones I absolutely do NOT get are, mangos... I mean... mint peaches???? BLECHHHHH! and fucking pomegranates... good god, you have to really fucking love SEEDS to enjoy that one, and that very weird taste too. ICK!!!!!!!!!!!!

My views on different melons are always changing, it seems... when I was a kid, I loved watermelon, and could not abide canteloupe.... now I love canteloupe, if it's ripe and sweet, but watermelon... meh. Never have been able to stand honeydew, blech. Never tried an actual canary melon, though I'd like to, I've heard they're sweet.
