Ahh but she has mommy to care for them....
Not too much anymore. I've gotten very good at saying no. Lol She was dropping him off every Saturday to take off to get her hair done or shopping with friends but I put a stop to it. I usually work on Saturdays and I'm not pulling doubles.

In case you didn't hear, there was a sexual revolution back in the 60s

Yes, there was... and that thing called the Pill was invented then, too, so women could have some fun without having to become mommys -- which should happen AFTER the wedding, not before (the mommying). The fun can be anytime, but children need BOTH parents. If someone can't even commit for life to another adult, they don't have any business becoming parents, because the commitment to a child is also life-long, and a lot harder than with another adult.

I was just wondering why she doesn't have a HUSBAND to help her care for them. I guess I'm old-fashioned; if I'd had a child out of wedlock, my mother would have disowned me -- marriage is supposed to come before babies.

Andria
My dad would have but not my mom. It's so commonplace here for single girls to have babies. Besides, I'd rather just suck it up to have contact with my grandchildren than not. He's the light of my life and couldn't imagine life without him.

I don't advocate for women to just go out and randomly get pregnant, but don't think it's any of my business if they do - after all, a man was involved somehow - even those that use a turkey baster :giggle:

Children need both parents. That's why it takes 2 to make them -- there should be two to raise them, too.

Yeah but it is illegal to shoot the male.
Even wounding is frowned upon.

My husband was adopted in the 50s because his biological mother was a teenager that got knocked up by a married adult male

They found each other last April - after kind of getting to know her a little, I told him he was lucky to have been adopted and dodged a bullet...

Yeah but if married Medicaid will not pay for the baby...

I am a firm believer in if you can't afford to raise em don't expect everyone else to raise em.
But then no one listens to me....
And that's one of my biggest issues too. I can understand, a mistake, to a point the first time but I feel like if you get pregnant the 2nd time, you pay half. If there's a 3rd time, then it's all on you.

yeah but the system is not structured that way.
Have more get more money...
I would go for forced sterilization after 2nd on public assistance.
Why should the children suffer?

The only problem I have with that is the fact that it ends up penalizing (less prenatal care, well-baby care) the child for the fuck up the parents made

Me too! I worked with a girl that had 5 kids and was expecting a 6th. All paid for by Medicaid. And she didn't work half the time. Why should she? She was living with her mom and bragged about getting $1200 a month in food stamps.

I have to say that in many if not most ways, I'm about as unconventional as they come -- I cut a promiscuous swathe thru most of the males I encountered in the late 70s and early 80s, and even had an abortion, because one idiot that got me pregnant was so completely abusive, i wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy, and it took getting pregnant to wake me up and make me get the fuck away from him. I did drugs, I drank like a fish, the whole 70s 'sex and drugs and rock n roll'.... but when I married my 2nd husband, and a couple months later, realized I was pregnant, I had to sit down and think things over. My religious beliefs are completely unconventional, but I couldn't shake the feeling that if I kept getting rid of babies I'd started, there might come a point where I really truly wanted one, and wouldn't be able to make it happen -- y'know, karma. And the fact was that I was married to a great -- if also extremely unconventional -- guy, with a good job, who seemed to not only love me, but LIKE me, and never made a single motion that made me think he might ever raise a hand to me (and he never has!).

So I thought, ok, a baby... at which point, I cried, because I knew, as apparently my mother never did, that becoming a mother meant I would have to GROW UP and be an actual adult. But I set about doing that very thing... including, when my son was 4, getting sober (I'd left off the drugs a few months before getting pregnant, so that timing was great!). I can't regret it -- my son is now 29, and is a wonderful friend, now that I don't have to crack the mommy whip -- apparently I did that well enough when he was a kid, to help him grow into a real mensch. :D And the guy who helped me make him, both before and after his birth, is my lifelong bestie, after 30 yrs of marriage and 31 yrs of cohabitation, and I can't help but think that parenting in stereo is why our son is so neat. (not literally... his room is a disaster, but if he wants to live in that, his problem!). I certainly could not have done it without my husband, coming home every evening, being there for both of us, helping our son learn solid values like a work ethic that doesn't quit.

It's not fair to the child, not to have both parents, married, together, working in harmony toward the shared goal of that child's future. My dad was an alcoholic so it's fortunate that my mom got away from him when I was 5, and married a good guy when I was 7, so even though I resented my stepfather till I was grown, I still got parented in stereo -- but I would have preferred my dad, sober, and an intact family.... such as the one we provided for our son, strange and odd as it might be otherwise (no one in this family has ANY claim on "conventional"). If that's old-fashioned, so be it; it worked for thousands of years, for a reason.

Evening fugees. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I worked this weekend, but it could have been worse.

Speaking of ECF, I haven't looked at "it" in several months, don't need anymore attys from Catfish, therefore I have no reason to look at "it". The website isn't a forum in my mind, may as well call it an "it", since I don't feel like using other derogatory terms this evening.....:teehee:

Keep that up and next thing you know you will be wearing a red make America great hat.
I can't help if others steal my great ideas ;)

I just wear 'go to hell' or floppy Gilly style hats.

No bill caps. Part of my hillbilly heritage that did not stick.

although I have been know to cut the bill off and wear them as a mechanics beanie to keep stuff out of my hair when working under a vehicle.

Tom Petty, the rocker best known as the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, is clinging to life in a Los Angeles hospital, according to TMZ. An earlier LAPD report which confirmed the singer's death, and which CBS reported, has since been clarified.

I was werking! Plus, I amazed myself with how much I got done by not going to Facebook and cutting the tv off. I made a gallon of spaghetti sauce, some lasagna and some bean soup. I think I'm good for the rest of the week! :teehee:

Been craving corn bread - which I'm not allowed to eat at all

Might cheat and get some non-GMO corn meal, blah blah blah - it's been awhile since I went off the rails :D

Loves good corn bread.
Either the white dry or the moist yellow sweet.

On second thought, maybe I won't

Mr Juicy saw a photo of himself and found out he was a little overweight :teehee: and is finally paying attention to how much pork I let go since January, so I shouldn't sabotage his efforts - though he killed me for months with the aroma of my favorite junk wafting through the air while I sulked around with a glass of pureed rutabagas with chia seeds and bowls of kale

Wasn't my favorite, but they did a great show, and I also saw him play with the Traveling Wilburys in the early 90s - fantastic showman

And some of his music reminds me of really good times with some of the best people I've ever known :)

Yeah, been reminiscing since the first report he was gone - a few of his songs really send me back to specific times and places

Ah, you don't see me this wistful and schmarmy that often

I'm devastated by news of Mr Petty's death. He's been one of my all-time faves since 1981. :(

Oh and @The Cromwell ... my offspring says thank you very very much for the Subtank Mini, he LOVES it. :) We still can't get the airflow open of the Lemo 2, but at least he discovered the STM. And, I'm pretty sure those are still available, and not too costly, so that's a great thing to discover. :) He's using the RBA deck; I told him it would be a bad idea to try the bought coils until he has disposable income, in case he likes them. :D

Sitting down? An epic and historic data breach at Yahoo in August 2013 affected every single customer account that existed at the time, Yahoo parent company Verizon said on Tuesday.
That's three billion accounts, including email, Tumblr, Fantasy and Flickr -- or three times as many as the company initially reported in 2016.

Names, email addresses and passwords, but not financial information, were breached, Yahoo said last year.

The new disclosure comes four months after Verizon (VZ, Tech30) acquired Yahoo's core internet assets for $4.48 billion. Yahoo is part of Verizon's digital media company,

ATT's email is farmed out to Yahoo, that Verizon purchased Yahoo makes for evidence that it's all
one big monopoly.

Actually there was some form of split up on ATT mail lately.

but yes any real competition gets bought out.
