We had a little shower this morning, but now just cloudy; s'posed to get more tonight and tomorrow, but it looks like the forecasted path of Nate doesn't actually hit Atlanta at all, but goes to the west of us. Not sure if NOLA will get a huge hit, but it looks like Mobile might.

It was an organic free range chicken fried in avocado oil with coconut flour - so actually healthy if you aren't worried about good fats :D
Good idea....I've used almond and quinoa flour, not coconut....need to get some. Bet that chicken was good...!

Could you taste the coconut flavor?

Not at all - and I dislike the taste of coconut

Usually use Almond flour instead of wheat but find it burns easily if mixed with very hot oils so decided to try the coconut on this

Still trying to figure all this out, lol

I tried coconut flour. Not a huge fan of its taste.

Best coating for chicken is Zatarans chicken fry or Louisiann chicken fry. :D

Mix some up with water in a bowl and have a second container with some dry in it. Dip, shake in dry, chunk into hot grease :)

Damn its good!

I avoid mixes - always have

From what I've read, the key to using coconut flour is to use it 1 to 3 compared to regular white flour. This was my first experiment with it

I tried making bread with it and it was just nasty. Followed a coconut flour bread recipe. I was aiming for a sandwich type bread and coconut flour like flax and other flour substitutes dont rise and allow you to make anything like that. With the proper seasonings it might be ok for usage as a coating for things like chicken or pork chops. Will have to try it again one day. Still have a couple pounds of it in the cabinet.

To some of older members, you are far from anathema. You were mentioned as being missed when the topice of deeming regs was discussed. We had a good idea where you stood but would have enjoyed you expressing it. [I doubt the retired one would miss you, he is a jackass, no humor at all, did I just say jackass, banned for life.]

I'm surprised actually, I figured I was as anathema to mention over there as VU itself. :giggle: I've popped in for a few anonymous visits, looking for some odd vaping info that I googled and the only pertinent link was at ECF... or when looking for someone I needed to get a msg to... but rarely. :D I never got banned there, but when retarded1 suspended me for something I didn't even do and then had the fucking NERVE to insult me about it, I'd had MORE than enough of his joyless censorious ass. I really wish he'd stick his head up his ass and jump.

I am fully committed to squonk, I have tried going to tanks a couple of times lately, no go. I even broke down and got a custom classic squonker, love it.

Fair to partly cloudy. :D I'm trying to join the squonk revolution, but keep running into obstacles. :D

And a healthy dose of the earned income tax credit, no doubt.

Me too! I worked with a girl that had 5 kids and was expecting a 6th. All paid for by Medicaid. And she didn't work half the time. Why should she? She was living with her mom and bragged about getting $1200 a month in food stamps.

Sodium is kinda like water too little will kill ya and too much will kill ya.

I likes my salt. My bp is fine.

And I mostly substitute MT Dew for water.
Except for bathing of course ;)

Didn't have any real lard on hand and can't use most vegetable oils these days - or wheat flour of any kind

Both aggravate my RA - am in remission and intend to stay there

Yep, was an unlikely candidate to become a health food nut - but am a believer after the year I had, lol

Good for you.
I will likely just die with a belly full of tasty food.
And not sure that I would have it any other way.

And I mostly substitute MT Dew for water.

When I trained attack dogs at my friend's kennel he had a soda machine
stocked with nothing but Mountain Dew. He had the machine rigged so we didn't need to put coins in it
just push a button, any button and you got a can of cold Mt Dew.

Needless to say, in the hot Miama sun jumping around in front of
Rotts and Dobes agitating them, one sweats mass quantities, especially when wearing a full
schutzhund suit

I drank mass quantities of free Mt Dew.

The spousal unit keeps trying to get me to eat healthy, but I'm fighting it with everything I have in me.... Lol

I have to agree with Crommie, I would rather die with a belly full of tasty food.

I'm 52, blood pressure is fine, cholesterol is good. I have cut way back on the sweets tho.
I tend to vape my desserts nowadays... Lol

LOL...you wouldn't want to mess with any of the dogs I trained..
(for one thing that was years ago and they're all dead by now)

You're thinking sleeve happy dogs. The reason one uses full suits is to keep the dogs from getting sleep happy.

Best things for mean dogs.

Look at the sodium content on any Zataran's product.

Also Zatarains is terrible for including sulfites... totally poisonous to asthmatics (LISTEN UP, FUCKING STUPID FDA!). If ever I find sulfites in a product, I am very loathe to ever buy that brand again, because what it shows is that they'd rather take the cheap route than the healthy route. (sulfur dioxide can also preserve color, but I guess it costs more?) Preserving color is the ONLY reason for sulfites, which makes it a totally stupid way to totally fuck up food for 25% of the population (who have asthma).

Fuck...some of the Rotts I trained would chew right through an aluminum bat.
I knew a guy, Nuñez..we threw a bone at him (gave him an account, he was a baker before getting into the guard dog biz)
at an illicit substance retailer's house..the dealer had those fences that are made of wrought iron bars
upload_2017-10-8_13-39-45.jpeg Nuñez was wearing a full suit (beats me why) doing fence work on the dealer's Rott
(training the dog to guard the perimeter) and got his schutzhund suit covered knee too close to the bars.
The dog put his snout through the bars and grabbed Nuñez' knee and locked his jaw. The dealer phoned us
and by the time we got there an hour later Nunez had shit his pants and was crying like a baby.

The suit keeps the dog's teeth from perforating the skin but not from crushing the bone.

Can't blame you, though the idea of using lard makes me shudder in revulsion. I use canola oil, usually, for deep-frying -- I really prefer EV olive oil, which I always use for sauteing, but it smokes at too low a temp for deep-frying.

I was an unlikely adherent of healthy foods too; I used to think a great dinner was a 6 pk of beer and a big bag of nacho cheese doritos. :giggle:

The end of the tale is that we had to use a choke stick as a pry bar to open the Rott's jaw and release Nuñez' crushed knee

I'm mainly just trying to find an alternative I'll actually enjoy, to my Achilles RDAs -- they're tough little bastards, but I'm sure they're not immortal. Have surmounted a few more obstacles, but still trying to work out all the details. I'll get there eventually. :D

Recently discovered that I can tolerate the original Lemo tanks -- even all the way closed, they're still a LITTLE too airy for me, but not horribly; I can get used to it, if I try, and the flavor is decent. My son recently bought one of the new Berserker tanks; their draw is a dream come true for tight-draw vapers, but the little bastard leaks like a screen door on a submarine, so that's kind of a wash. :(

I was that way about smoking - till I found vaping. Had no idea so many of "aging" problems were really smoking related

I was that way about eating - till the old health fell apart all at once last December, causing some serious misery and disability

The key is to find healthy stuff you enjoy eating instead - frankly, I haven't felt this good - mainly pain free and energetic - since I was in my 20s

Mr Juicy (age 59) had three strokes (one bad one) since Sept last year and is physically miserable and was stubbornly clinging his old habits (bad eating and still smoking) until very recently

His physical therapist (second stroke really fucked him up) took photos of him to show how bad his posture is but in the process he noticed he was overweight and was kinda upset at his appearance - so he's finally coming around some

Sad it took that (not the strokes and other problems) to change his mind - but whatever. Just glad he's trying to help himself finally

For the most part I have changed my eating habits. Spousal unit kinda forced me to by not buying the stuff I liked.... Lol but I do splurge now and then.
But since she has been eating healthier I have too. Plus I don't eat nearly as much as I used to. I quit the stinkies about 3 years ago and that started me down a healthier path.
I still love me some good ole southern cooking, just not as often as I would like.

Never have been able to digest cow lactation -

I have learned to appreciate a few brands of coconut water - but never from a can
Ohh my.. sorry bout that.
Had a big glass of cold Cow Lactates with my cinnamon rolls earlier. Quite tasty.

As far as I know, I have zero food allergies or intolerances -- except cholesterol; if I eat too much of that, I'm sick and in pain for 3-4 days, just can't digest it, with those stupid gallstones. Hence my revulsion about lard -- if I could be absolutely certain it came only from pigs, I'd grab it -- but if any fraction of it comes from cows, then it would just make me sick, since cows' fat is loaded with cholesterol.

So, I can drink milk without any problems, and often do, since I need the calcium -- but 2%; whole milk has too much cholesterol, 1% or skim just tastes like milky water. I'm not wild about the taste of coconut water, so I buy Zico's chocolate version, and then add about 20% chocolate milk to the glass -- it makes it sweeter, and gives it more body; the chocolate coconut water is as thin as Yoohoo, but not really sweet enough to suit me. It also increases the calcium... an electrolyte often overlooked, but crucial for post-menopausal women, particularly those like me with a chronic case of PM leg cramps.

Since I started including a bit of avocado and also dark chocolate (60% cacao) in my diet, those cramps have been a bit less, so apparently I also needed magnesium... go figger. :D

Otay, like I said, no argument...
BUT the problem with rapeseed oil is that even after processing it to make not poisonous
and turn it into canola is that the quality it has as rapeseed oil that makes it such a great grease for ships
doesn't change in the processing. It stays in you for ever.

But again, Do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law... :)
