the vmate does look good, but nada is getting 3-4 years from sigeli.
she convinced me to stay with them despite her one bad experience, thanks for letting me know it takes time to taste flavorings.
people keep drooling about this flavor n that.
i kinda felt left out.

I got 3-4 years from older Sigeleis. I'm not buying them any more because of my experience with the Evaya. Any mod can die, but Sigelei offered me NOTHING as far as support went. Told me they don't offer support for devices bought from Eightvape. That doesn't even make sense, unless they know that they send defective stuff or customer returns or something to Eightvape. That was the only thing I could think of as a reason they would single out one retailer.

If I had one choice for a vape brand now, I'd choose Geekvape.

I felt like that too, when I started, and saw all these forum folks talking about this or that flavor -- I was like "What the hell are you talking about?" Partly that was because I had this idea, at first, that it had to taste like the cigarettes I smoked for donkey's years... and I was very fortunate to find a Virginia flavor that was so close to the taste of VA Slims... but the whole idea of "smoking food" just puzzled me. But after I was smoke-free for about 4-5 months, I tried some other flavors... Pineapple Ice (with Koolada, so it was cool without being menthol), and Blueberry Muffin... and after that? Virginia lasted about another week and I just couldn't stand it anymore. :D

I second the vote for Sigelei! They've had a couple of missteps with their mods, but one of my very first "real" mods was a Sigelei Zmax flat-top... I used the HELL out of it for nearly a year.... and it's now almost 5 yrs old... but still works like a champ, I just prefer smallish box mods nowadays, for the reason I already mentioned, they're harder to knock over than tube mods. My most-fave mods now are my Sigelei Minibooks; I love the clever battery doors, and to me, their size is absolutely perfect -- and though they're a little on the "boxy" side, the back edge, where my fingers wrap around, is nice and rounded, very comfy. I'm using my black one today. :)

Those Mini Books are awesome. I'm going to pull mine back out of storage and put a Serpent Mini on it.

Got a ton of RTAs from Gadget the other day, so time to try some of them out!

YAY!
i just tasted peachberry n cream n i actually taste peaches!
that's my first except for tobacco.
same maker, ecblend that was recommended on another thread.
it's in a sense v jet.
i can't restrict this rank as much as i like but the mod is nice.
very masculine, but the corners are rounded off.
not great to hold like the segili sobra, but nicer than plain boxes, which i now officially hate.

this thing has a clock n calendar but i can't get that set up.
i don't actually know how to use screens
not sure i need a clock on a mod anyway.

how long to geekvapes last?

Can't really say about any of theirs except the Aegis mods, but the appeal of those, to me, is 'waterproof/shockproof/dust-proof' -- and being a klutz who drops things about every 10 minutes, "shockproof" is AWESOME! Given their extremely sturdy construction and apparently-superior "boards" (the electronics inside them), I'd say they should be good for YEARS.

thanks/ i didn't phrase the question right. i just should have asked why you liked them.
i didn't know that there is a difference in boards, but since yo do, i'm happy to know that.
i like top grade tools.
i have a kitchen aid mixer that isn't cheap, but mine is going strong after 10 years of daily use.
that taught me a lesson. .

I don't really know that much about bare-bones electronics -- my son does, but he's studying electrical engineering! :giggle: But some of the "boards" used in some of the higher-end mods are definitely superior; the mods that are really costly, like the "SX" series, #-class mods (M, or Q, or whatever class) often specify what board or chip/chipset they're using -- an Sx Mini M-class uses something called the Yihi SX350J -- there are other models, other classes, but that particular one is the only truly "high-end" mod I own, and can check the specs on. :D There are others with electronics identified with "DNA-something-or-other", I've heard that those are VERY good. I don't think that Sigelei generally identifies what electronics they're using, but MOST Sigeleis seem to be in the "mid" category -- fairly decent construction and electronics for a moderate price -- that's roughly about what I usually aim for -- I'm a tightwad, but I also appreciate reasonable-or-better quality. :) Sometimes it really doesn't pay to be penny-wise and pound-foolish -- like those KitchenAid appliances! They ARE pricey, but I've heard they're worth it.

i just looked at those sx things.
pretty nice looking.
are they worth 4 times the price of what i've been buying?
more important, are they worth that to someone of my skill level,
or are they for advanced users?

Just speaking as a tightwad... if I hadn't found my SXMini M-class here on the forum for a DIRT CHEAP price (because most of the paint had flaked off and it looked like it had the mange! (I wrapped it!))... I would never have owned one. And after I got it, even after I got it wrapped in a sparkly blue wrapper... I've very seldom used it. 1) it's quite heavy for a single-battery mod, and 2) the bottom edge is nearly razor-sharp, and it's not comfortable for me to hold -- so it really is a good thing I got it dirt cheap, or I'd REALLY hate having spent that much on a mod I rarely used.

It may be that it IS intended for a more advanced user, particularly the newer ones that do "TC" -- I've tried it and at my low-wattage, TC is fairly useless., plus it really doesn't give me the kind of vape I want.

Don't know how you all feel about it, but I had a IPV Vesta that had a Yihi SX-410 board in it, and it was the most hateful mod to try to change settings on. Then about three months after I bought it (used, here in the Hardware thread) it died.

Talk about complicated. I'm like @AndriaD as far as that goes - only want my vaping to get so complex, then I'm ready to chuck the mod out the window. I mess with computers all day. Don't want to come home and mess with more gadgets all night too.

I do use TC on the Aegis Legend and the Voopoo Vmate. That's pretty straightforward and works well on both of those mods (had to upgrade the firmware in the Legend because SS TC needed a patch). Tried it on my eLeaf iStick 100TC - NOPE! Such spitting and sputtering you never heard in your life!

@susieqz if you don't like "boxy" you probably wouldn't like the Aegis or the Aegis Legend. They're both boxy and substantial. I like the Legend just fine; it's a workhorse and doesn't pretend in any fashion to be anything but that. Delicate and streamlined, it ain't. :)

I love my Sigelei Book Mini's. I have 4 of them :) But my go to is still the Kanger Subox Mini. I prefer compact, single 18650 mods. So I have 6 Kangers. I have 5 Cool Fire 4's. And for internals I have 4 eLeaf iPower 80w's. I have lots of other various mods... but the ones I just listed are what I use the most. Some of the ones I have in use I've been using for 4 years and they're still going strong.

I don't find the Aegis "boxy" at all -- it's very rounded in the hand, very comfy to hold. But it IS rather heavy, probably just because the metal is quite substantial, probably to provide the "shockproof-ness".

Totally with you about complexity, though -- that's one reason I just stick to plain old wattage mode, and make very simple single-wire coils -- my style of vaping is so "old-fashioned," so "low impact", that complexity is definitely not required. And that's also why I don't really care for vaping with a mech -- the only way to "adjust" a mech is to change the coil, and if it misbehaves somehow, the only thing you can do is disassemble the whole thing, reassemble it, and hope that fixes the problem; with a regulated mod, I can change the intensity of the vape on the fly, by changing the wattage, and there's that handy screen to help me diagnose any misbehavior -- though sometimes the only solution is to mount a new coil (if it's doing the spitting thing, which I HATE!).

Don't care much for the gold or shape... but that stabwood is GORGEOUS!

Yes not a total gold fan either, but its growing on me- looks fancy. The Thor only comes in gold, lucky I had the Voluna V2 RTA in gold- perfect match.
Yes the stabwood is gorgeous- very happy with it!

Andria

Thanks Andria-
I love the colors, wanted one for a while but too much money and I was kind of iffy on the gold! Then Asmodus has a 30% off sale and free shipping making this affordable for me.
I go to order and they are sold out- but I contacted customer service asking for a possible rain check for the sale price, but they had this one in purple left- I bought it!

I think the gold looks spiffy! Couple years ago, I had a Vamo in that "gun metal" (black chrome) finish, and after I stopped using cartotanks, I had nothing to "match" it -- so I got a gold KFL+ -- but the dadgum thing LEAKED! I was so mad. It looked outstanding, and pissed me off everytime I used it... so when someone asked me about buying one of my mod/tank setups, I sold 'em that one! :giggle:

LOL- Great to get rid of the leaker, too bad it was in gold!
I have so many black and silver frame and trim mods- nice to throw in a gold one once in a while. LOL!
While yellow gold is not my favorite color metal- I don't down right hate yellow gold.

thanks, snap. i watched some you tube n got a little help.
your stab wood is beautiful.
i think i need some.

Great way to find some help is on You Tube- many are shills there, but at least some of them have some knowledge and can walk you thru the settings- sometimes a great place to research a mod or tank you are interested in too.
LOL- yes stabwood- my favorite and I have a few! Started buying them 3 years ago. The downside is that many times you cannot pick the one you want- random choice. Usually they are in a color range like blue, red, purple or green.
Asmodus and Vapor Range have had some really good sales so I have been able to pick up a few new ones!

are there particular reviewers that impart good info?
the one i looked at, the guy spent lots of time blowing clouds.
not sure what that's supposed to tell me.
by the way, that sense vjet is comfy to hold, but stay away from it.
the battery door is really flimsy.
i doubt it will last more than a few months. .

You Tube reviewers I watch are:

I like PBusardo "Taste my Juice" - He is very long winded. Not sure if he is doing too many reviews any more. He is the 1st reviewer I would watch when I 1st got into vaping.
and Daniel " DJLsb Vapes" very technical and will walk thru the entire mod and or tank.
I also like Todd's reviews , Grimm Green and Mike Vapes and Deuces Jack
Lady reviewers I like are Zophie Vapes and Ruby Roo

For written reviews- there are many good ones here in VU !

Vic seems an ok guy. Really I like any of them who seem like real people, not full of bullshit like that Rip Trippers dude and Jai Haze. I watch them sometimes but omg, I have to hold onto my hat to make it to the end. But you know, Jai's kept it real. HAVE YOU? :gaah:

I found the guys who do skits and all from Zamplebox to be really cute and entertaining. As far as I remember right now, they aren't terribly informative about gear, but I think they're funny. Love their "Shameless Plug" bits, where they take all different routes to launch into all the reasons you should buy stuff from Zamplebox. They're so smarmy about it, it's hysterical.

I agree about Busardo -- he was my go-to when I was still learning everything I could about vaping, which mods might suit me best, etc -- but yeah he does get a bit long-winded, and also quite technical sometimes -- I really don't need to see the oscilloscope reading of a mod. :giggle: But his were the only vape vids I ever liked at all; most of the others seem to do nothing but blow huge clouds at the camera and speak in modern slang that means absolutely NOTHING to me. I really don't need to watch people vape on camera; if I want to watch someone blowing enormous clouds, I can just watch my son. :giggle: At least I can understand his language! ;)

I was really surprised when I found out PBusardo lived very close to me, he has since moved to Florida. Can't blame him- here in western NY we have bitter cold and snowy winters, hell Niagara Falls is frozen- LOL!
He just always seems very honest and professional in his reviews and not too many good reviewers when I started vaping in 2014.

I had some trouble with my newer Vsticking VK530 yihi draining my batteries below 3v when sitting at idle for a few days-
Called Vape NW (still under warranty) they gave me store credit to cover the cost of my Vsticking(which I get to keep, works but I take the batteries out when not using). No more VSticking White Deity left so I bought the Asvape Gabriel and got a set of Golisi 18650 , 3000mAh batteries with my store credit. Kind of girly, right?
