Orange Tic Tacs :)

This project was a real blast; I hope you Tic-Tac-ers find the results useful.

I suggest making a bottle of Orange Tic Tac Outer Half and a separate bottle of Orange Tic Tac Inner Half. Vape them separately first (ideally, alternate vaping from two separate tanks - while sucking on real Tic Tacs to compare!!). Orange Tic Tac Complete is just a 50/50 mix of the two flavors, but of course you can combine the Outer Half and Inner Half bottles in any ratio you like.

Orange Tic Tac Outer Half: (the outside half of a Tic Tac - strongly sweet orange with subtle cool-minty effects)
3% FA Orange
1% FA Mandarin
0.5% FA Vanilla Classic
0.5% FA Peppermint
0.5% FA Anise

Orange Tic Tac Inner Half: (the inside half of a Tic Tac - bold orange with strong sweet/tart effects)
3% FA Orange
2.5% FA Mad Fruit (surprise!)
1% FA Mandarin

Orange Tic Tac Complete: (all layers of a Tic Tac at once - it's a mouth full of Tic Tacs in various stages of dissolving)
3% FA Orange
1.25% FA Mad Fruit
1% FA Mandarin
0.25% FA Vanilla Classic
0.25% FA Peppermint
0.25% FA Anise

None of these is a light, subtle vape - but even if you prefer light flavoring, try full-strength first for the most realistic effect. (You can always add more nic base later).

And really - get a box of actual Tic Tacs to compare. There are little piles of half-dissolved Tic Tacs all around me now, lol!

I made reference in the late night thread but now I'm wondering. Is it OK to use canning jars for nic storage? I'm not sure about the metal lids.
The metal lids should have a liner in them, so the nic won't be exposed to the metal.
AFAIK, there's no reason you can't use a canning jar. You need to be careful if you're putting them in the freezer though; I've had more than one break for no apparent reason, and I hear other people have the same issue.

How the hell are you measuring by weight ? Oh, I think I just figured that out....with a good electronic scale ? I have one that does Grams and OZ... Troy and avoir....may not work. Think I will stick with syringes and those tall glass measuring thingies for my large batches. I need some 1 ml syringes like now. Im not used to measuring such small amounts. Wonder who has them around here ?

How far are you from Grayson? Your welcome to try any of my 35 FA flavors I just got (5 more coming tomorrow) and mix up what you want.... just come on over. Dont know if you have tried these FA flavors yet........ I just mixed up HiC's Banana Milkshake....... OH WOW !! I may up the bannana a tad and see what happens. My wife just said "its perfect, leave it the Fuck alone" (Excuse the language but thats what she said while I was typing this)

Not getting much out of the Apricot stand alone at 3, 4 and 5%.. Its there, its just very subtle. I know you like apricot.

Anyway..... pushing forward here.. :)

I'm not actually doing it by weight; I'm sticking to my syringes. I have a scale (used for reloading) that has a fine enough resolution, but I don't think it does well with small changes (while the pan is on the scale). It reads fine if you remove it, add weight, and put it back.

You can get 1ml syringes from any drug store or pharmacy; there's no law against it in Georgia. FWIW, I tell them I'm using them for mixing small samples of cupcake flavor concentrates. I don't want to deal with the hassle or the horrified looks I get when I tell them it's for vaping.

I live in Buford, but we have some good friends in Grayson. We're likely to head over there on Saturday to hang out and whatnot. If I've got a couple of spare 1ml syringes I'll bring 'em along and make a side trip, assuming you're available.

ETA: Syringes are also available via Amazon. Feel like splitting a 100ct box?

Metal will contract in the freezer, so I can see it could break the glass. I just bought a load of wide mouth 120ml jars from Packaging Options direct - I think it was $2.52 for a dozen, with lids (plastic) (08cents each)

Am I wrong or are FA Oak Wood and MTS Vape Wizard the same thing! I havent used either one but they look and smell identical...or did RTS vapes bottle the incorrect flavoring for one of them?

I don't think I have Vape Wizard, but Oak Wood is quite dark brown. It's a little lighter than Cocoa. Are both yours dark?

Ill message you my number and stuff. If it rains or id poo poo outside, Ill be here probably....if nice, I may take the boat to the lake.

Kabalm - taste a drop of each.
Just gave em the old taste test. If they arent the same thing then they are very very very close. Hopefully someone else that has both can confirm....but to my taste...they are the same.

Hey! I was researching Black currant the other day trying to find inspiration for recipes and found this interesting tidbit on Wikipedia in the culinary use section... "used to invigorate bananas and other tropical fruits" We all know FA banana is a great flavor but is a little weak so maybe we could use a touch of black currant as an alternative to walnut to boost the flavor. What say you? Unfortunately, I am out of banana so will have to order more...I will try this when I get more.

Don't have Orange or Mad Fruit from this list of ingredients. Will something else work?

I like a touch of blackcurrant in lemon custard. Dunno about it boosting other flavors, but I it does add appealing contrast to "bright" flavors.

For an accurate Tic Tac flavor, I don't think subs would work. :(
I'm truly convinced the Ferrero company (Italian company that makes Tic Tacs) uses FlavourArt flavorings. They're practically neighbors, and FA is the most widely-used flavoring brand in Europe. I'd bet all the Tic Tac flavors could be copied with only FA flavorings.

I was vaping HIC's Kalev and Hussel the other day(it's the only thing I've used blackcurrant in) and had a thought that a touch of blackcurrant my give strawberry a boost, am I crazy?

All those red and purple fruit flavors go great together, except maybe plain Cherry (it gets lost).
I just googled 'strawberry blackcurrant' - popular combination in candies and jam, so I'd say that's an insightful idea!

I'll have to mix up some of the Tic Tacs this weekend. I keep a bag of candy at work. I adore the Orange Mint Lifesavers. And Werther's Coffee candies. Evidently, all my co-workers have a fondness for them.

Ahhh, office candies. They do vanish quickly, don't they! If you like Werther's Coffee candies, you might like 'mocha' flavored Coffee Nips. I have a recipe for those: http://vapingunderground.com/threads/hics-mocha-nips-coffee-candy.1832/

I just realized Strawberry Fields Tic Tacs probably work just like the orange ones. Just subbing FA Strawberry for orange+mandarin would be a good start. The dark-pink sour strawberry ones would be like orange tic tac centers, but strawberry instead of orange+mandarin. The light-pink sweet strawberry would be like the outside half. Anyone who likes those strawberry tic-tacs could try that.

Be glad you don't have 6 times 35 teenagers daily stealing your pens and pencils. Scratch that. I rather have people steal that than my candies.

Hey Kaybalm - I found my Vape Wizard. It's not the same as Oakwood. Both are very dark and definitely look the same color to me. Oakwood smells like fresh sawdust to me (it's subtle though), but I can't detect any scent to Vape Wizard. Oakwood definitely has a flavor if tasted on a finger (not strong, but it's there), while Vape Wizard does not.

If you want to do the ultimate test, Oakwood at 3% standalone makes a fine mellow vape. I've never tried Vape Wizard like that, but I'm sure it would not taste the same.

I am wondering if they bottled the wrong flavor because the two I have seem to be identical. I will have my wife test it out and see what she thinks.

What'd you get? What'd you make?
I just made vanilla-cream-filled cinnamon candy canes. It's about the highest total flavoring I've ever used with all FlavourArt, but it's good. Now to figure out how to drop the flavoring and keep the flavor right...

Hello All
At last I have found my favorite forum, again.

Not to open up the can of worms that was the wonderful, lively discussion a while ago concerning "subjective" taste and color. Might I add you are both correct but simply speaking on two very different points.

HIC: All white Tic Tacs taste like white Tic Tacs to you. All school bus yellow looks the same to you. These are comparisons based on your perceptions. You have a gifted palette that allows you to perceive very minute differences in flavors, you are also gifted with an ability to match flavors to one another. Your use of the written language is nothing short of marvelous and least more than a few of us to value your opinion.
Smokey Blue (I think): You are correct. We all perceive taste and color differently. That is why some of us think certain flavors others rave about are better buried in a hazmat site.

Sometimes we manage to find others whose perceptions are very similar to are own and we learn to trust their opinions.

I'd say long story short but wayyy too late. "You are both absolutely correct"

Alright so I keep seeing FA apple pie used in low percentages (ex. 0.5%) to give a "crusty" note. Is the apple really undetectable?

Oh. I posted one review under the mocha nibs recipe. I also made the Irish Cream Milkshake and Fancy Coffee. I need to let those sit before I made an accurate review. Besides ry4s, I can't vape anything else consistently, until I met mocha nibs. I haven't put it down. That really says a lot HIC =)

It depends on what flavors it's playing with? I've used it a bit higher even and covered up apple, or at least it complimented the flavor I used. Lemon Sicily, for example. I attempted Lemon Meringue Pie. It wasn't bad at all, just not what I was hoping for. Quite vapable, actually. I tasted no apple at all. I If you're working on crust, adding .5% cookie helps. How do I know? HIC said so, it works, I've used it in several. HIC teaches us all sorts of cool things.

FA's Apple Pie is mostly a very tasty pie crust ... with a few mild apples. You can easily cover the apple flavor with darker fruits and berries. With lighter fruits it can take a little experimenting to get juuuust enough to add the crust flavor, but not so much that apple break through.without apples, but I've been finding it's almost always possible.

Using Apple Pie:Cookie in a 2:1 ratio gives a different, 'fluffier' crust flavor. It's the same deal, using small quantities in your recipe to get the effect.

Oh - with plenty of other flavors added, Apple Pie also makes a dandy apple pie recipes. That's just not how I usually use it.

LOL - it's 'not ready for prime time' yet. I'm using Cinnamon Ceylon, Vienna Cream, Caramel, Meringue, and trying to decide which vanilla works best (will probably be Vanilla Classic). I might use Butterscotch, might use Catalan Cream, might omit Caramel. Must buy another (real) candy cane to finish the recipe, but I doubt it'll use any flavors I didn't list here.

Just order 1 of everything. Seems to be where we're all eventually ending up, lol!

Because I can't find the recipe that Thunderball's wife dropped the F bomb on, what was the Banana Milkshake? I'm gonna give Banana one last try. I'm pretty sure it's the Catalan the dislikes me, rather than the banana.
