Well yeah, there's that... ...I've seen it happen. And I've seen it ignored by everyone else. I remember looking over, exchanging knowing glances with a few of the other guys and just glossing over it. There's a reason why some of the people in my neck of the woods do all of their drinking in plastic lawn chairs under an outdoor cabana... ...sorta an "I guess this is life now." type of deal. Their bar drinking days are over, that's for sure.

A buddy of mine used to tell me tales of a poor, old, and overweight alcoholic fella in his group down at the local rehab center. Let's call him Fred. Poor Fred drank so much that he couldn't get to the mailbox without shitting himself and often shit the couch. He shit the bed and slept through it. He shit himself in the shower (when he managed to get into one.) He even shit himself while taking a piss. In a room full of ****** addicts, benzo-munchers, and crackheads, he was made a laughing stock for the tales he told of the places he had shit himself. Poor guy couldn't get through a meeting without breaking down in tears at some of the vile shit people would say to him.

And as terrible as that truly is, it still gives me a chuckle.

My Grandpa bought my Grandma a brand new sofa way back when that she loves so much that she had the fitted plastic covers on it. Then one of those expandable wooden gates (the ones that you use to block doorways so toddlers can't get through them) in front of the sofa to keep the dog off of it. As a last line of defence, no one was ever allowed to sit on it!

I remember that she passed away when I was about 7 years old and Grandpa kept it just like she left it except he put newspapers and magazines on it (think Grandpa was one of the very first Hoarders except he did not have a TV show).

About 40 years later, Grandpa passed and the sofa was as good as the day it was brought home from the department store!

I did find some of it entertaining, and that indicates how bored I am this morning.
