Hello All,

I'm 65 chronologically. 20 maybe mentally, or even less.

I "have" a son that has been old since birth. We haven't spoken in years.
Never liked sports. No team. No body building. No chasing girls. No racing
No smoking, no gambling, no guns, No drugs or other goodies life offers.

Since he was little, I tried to guide him through the right path, to no avail.
He's a doctor in math and physics. The only thing I could envy him.
I never had time for a formal education. Too many fish in the sea.
But I also don't see myself being punctual, having a schedule
riding public transportation, or "living" a lame life.
Hey, nothing wrong with any of those. But in conjunction, they stink.

I don't envy him, or anybody else for that matter. I can't see myself being a professor.

My eldest daughter, his sister, instead, tried to be "like dad". Not under my patronage.
When I didn't have other kids she told me proudly, "I'm the son you wish you have had."
Until one day she told me, "you know dad, It a very steep price to pay".
I agree, specially if you're not a "natural".

What all this bullshit boils down to is this:
There's is a BIG difference between getting old and being old.

I'm getting old. No doubt. I'm about to do away with all the mirrors in the house.
I can shave myself mirrorless. Cut my hair too. My wife does the finishing touches.

Only now, I'm looking for lighter things. Like aluminum, plastic, etc, instead of iron.
I scared of my 36" waist. My loss of muscle. And my loss of will.

Quick example: I almost "gave away" my 28' Son-Of-Gun Cigarette last month.
It happens that to rebuild the engines now, you have to send 'em to Mercury to retrofit.
Serial #s say 454s and the are 502s. Not good enough for 75+ MPH.
And the cost is more than buying a new normal boat.

I went to the river today. And observed several types of crafts.
Here, most are deck boats, pontoons, skiffs or center consoles.
I'm thinking of buying one of those. Even if they are butt ugly.
I bought the 'vert. Why not the cruiser. Maybe even a motorhooo.... No. Never.

I'm I getting to be old?. Please, say no or abstain.

Thank you for your confidence-building replies.

Carlos.
