Battery in mech mod.

Is it normal for a battery in a mech mod to get a little black spot on the negative end, at the firing mechanism? It's a MXJO battery running a .6 ohm coil. Have not noticed any heat issues everything remains fairly cool to the touch.

That is the nature of the beast. Those areas have to be cleaned occasionally as the mod will not perform as well. The battery becomes a make/break contact as in a switch. That is why some switches fail, too. There is a tiny arc formed at moment pre and post contact that can melt the metal and leave craters.

If the condition is bad, you can try to use a silicone dielectric grease, much like we used back in the day when cars used points instead of e-ignition. It excludes oxygen so you don't get the oxidized deposits. Use crocus cloth or 400 grit silicon carbide sandpaper to clean. Make sure to blow out the metallic dust afterwards.
