Convenience stores try to kill online sales electronic cigarettes

    The battle for electronic cigarettes.

    Convenience Stores are getting greedy.

Today, the national association of Convenience stores urged the FDA to kill online sales in a move that would essentially make them the sole suppliers of electronic cigarettes. I sense a little bit of greed on their behalf. It was not just ecigs that they were pushing for, but the ban of anything tobacco related when it comes to online sales.

The group claims that electronic cigarettes are the wild west of tobacco products and this somehow will help underage people to get their hands on these products in a much easier fashion.

This is all funny to me because they also recently opposed a ruling that would push the smoking age up to 21. I assume that rule would lower their overall profit causing quite a loss in sales for them. They need to make up their minds. They can’t have it both ways. Either you’re for or against the age requirements of using tobacco related products.

If you can’t see the greed in that then you either work at a convenient store or you’re blind to the truth. It seems to me that not only are the tobacco companies realizing that ecigs are a very profitable market, but now the convenient stores are too. Hmmmm, are the big tobacco companies backing them up? Most likely.

This is just another case of absolute greed, and would be a crushing blow to my small business and others like me. All I am trying to do is put food on my table just like the next person. My site explicitly states that you must be 18 to enter and buy any products on the site. If you do not want your children to buy tobacco products you should probably monitor their behavior a little better. It is not my fault that your parenting skills have failed. Like I said you should watch your kids a little better and you won’t have to worry about it.

In conclusion, I hope the FDA will realize that this is just an attempt by the convenient stores to fatten their pockets. I hope all who read this will write to the FDA and tell them that this would essentially kill many small online retailers leaving there families with no income. I again strongly urge you to this in a professional manner so that the people in public office will realize how detrimental this act would be.

In Oregon , vape shops are required to carry a "convenience store license"....So I see this as a way of forcing vape shops around the country to buy into their licensing scheme. Which requires a yearly fee that is much greater than a business license. Just putting their hands into the piggy bank for their share. Note that its the NAC that put in the request, not the stores on their own, the only people who will profit from this move, is the mafia that runs the Association. It is a UNION, and we all know what UNION stands for....Chicago Mafia....Look who our current president is...we have 800 days left until hopefully the Chicago Mob gets booted out of the White House.

Wikipedia defines a protection racket as follows:

an extortion scheme whereby a powerful entity or individual coerces other less powerful entities or individuals to pay protection money which allegedly serves to purchase "protection" services against various external threats.

E-cig vendors should get together and petition the FDA to (1) ban big tobacco from the sale and manufacturing of e-cig devices and related products until they can prove that they can meet current industry practice standards, and (2) ban convenience stores from sales of big tobacco e-cig products. First (1) most vaping related studies conducted have focused on the cig-a-like type of devices produced primarily by big tobacco companies and affiliates. These have been found to be wildly inconsistent with the way most of the industry, primarily small businesses/suppliers/e-juice manufacturers/distributers, conducts, manufactures, and presents vaping related products. Second (2), most underage drinking can be attributed to convenience store, as opposed to online, sales and nothing suggests that vaping products will not follow suit. Furthermore, banning big tobacco associated inconsistent vaping products from convenience stores will bolster local, regional, and national economies due to the distribution of wealth over a greater platform instead of the proverbial shell game currently leaching our money to big tobacco, big pharma, and governmental special interests.

My goodness if that happens, which I would hope not, I sure hope that their selection changes not to mention pricing. Oh our Walmart gas station advertises the cheapest eliquid around, oh sure if you want to vape nasty stuff!!! I have to admit I tried a little of the same brand when my husband found me a replacement for my ego when I first quit smoking. It came with a "free" bottle, nastiest stuff I ever tried!!!

yeah, its all about mafia dues...protection fees. They sell crap because they make the most money from it. I got my first juice from a convenience store...what a joke, no wonder i gave it up a few days later. Wasn't until I found a real vape shop that I fell in love with vaping, the owner is the one who explained that they had to carry a convenience store license in the state. Chicago has their dirty grubs in all that is ours. Nobody can stand up to them, while one of their own in is the white house.

Even though I might find merit with your statement, I think you could take it a couple steps further. Local and federal government will try to protect the 500% tax revenues. And big tobacco only distributes substandard e-cig related products to dissuade the 20% of the public that smokes from converting. Otherwise, they would have tried to buy out companies like ProVapes and Innokin to corner the market and control market share. Their omission is telling in that they are working against the industry and not to gain profitability within a 2 billion dollar a year industry.

i agree on that front too my Chowder, never safe to assume that chess players are playing one strategy or from one angel....dirty bastards play us from all sides. I was heavily involved with "politics" at one point in my life, its disgusting once you learn some of the tactics used when it comes to money and power.
There are things in this world, that once you know, you can never unknow, there is no going back to being unaware.....and it still keeps me up at night with my gun inches from my hand.

this is such an interesting time to be a vaper and be educated on the issues we face with our government at the same time. the propaganda is done in such a blatant way and they are taking every angle they can to try to shut down successful small businesses. they see wealth being spread around in the most free market way possible and they realize the bigger picture. if the public at large sees how much wealth is shared through a free market setting without government sucking up all the extras or corporations monopolizing all the wealth, how much easier it is to start your own business without government/corporate interference, we (the entire nation) might actually make a real push to return to our roots with tiny government and huge market place. they will realize quite directly how this corporate fascist bullshit is impacting their life and opportunities. and worst of all (for them) the free ride these corporations enjoy would come to an end. i think this is why we see every stone possible being thrown at vaping because we are far from a monopoly ready to be taken over and we know it as a community. and that is a powerful structure with a powerful mindset
