I recently started dripping, i have a tugboat v2 clone and a ipv2 revised version. I currently have a 1.1 ohm single coil 26 gauge 9 wraps on 2.4mm screwdriver. So i've been using this coil a week now, i've changed cotton few days ago. Im wondering how often to change. I know the coil lasts much longer , the cotton goes first. when i changed wick, i take it out with tweezers. Dry fire pulse my ipv till no more vapor/ sound. that correct? So i'll be able to tell when cotton needs replaced right, itd be gunked up and taste bad. How bout coil how do you tell there? And can somone tell me a aprox time to replace. Like usually once a week .. im using koh gen do japanese . And i just take top cap off to drip its easier then taking tube part off.& i took top o ring off top cap because it was super stiff with 2 to get off.

I change the cotton whenever the flavour drops off. Normally that is about a week. I have what comes to a year's supply of Koga, so I'm not worried.

It varies on the wick based on different juices, but it ranges anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks. You'll know when it's time, flavor will drop off(don't confuse it with vaper's tongue), it may start to get somewhat dry hits now and then. Basically when it's not working good anymore.

The coil varies too, some juices will gunk up the coil more than others and make dry burning less and less effective. So basically when you can't dry burn it to get it looking somewhat ok. Should last several rewicks.

Things to look for: Flavour drop off as already mentioned, wick not drying "white", wick matting down and losing it's ability to hold juice.

The cotton will get darker to right, i notice at first its lighter & atm cottons pretty dark and only few days old. I re drip before cotton is white, it looks juicy when i drip. My tugboat has deep well so its ok eh. Ive been putting 5 or 6 drops on coil & cotton beside. But i also have cotton going to other side of deck. My coil is black atm, so i should change cotton & dry burn it. Only week old so it would be good another couple weeks or untill dry burning doesnt make it silver anymore. Ive got 80 sheets of koh gen do, so that should last like 6 months even longer eh? And a 30 foot roll kanthol should do like 50 coils so that should last several months to.

I dry burned coil, it looks like theres rust on coil, theres brown on it. Its not rust is it, is that normal? It's only a week old so it should be good another week or two right?

They do get a carbon coating on them eventually which doesn't completely go away after a dry burn. Don't concern yourself
with it if it still tastes proper when re wicked. I've had coils last over 90 days.

I change cotton every other day, but my rda's see heavy use.
