This is the first box I've seen other than the original MVP & 2 that have the fire button there. It actually wasn't that hard for me to get used to it on my mvp2, thought I'd hate it. Helped when I put a sleeve on it though.

I don't mind the button being in the middle like that. I use to have an MVP2 and had no problem with button position. I text with just one thumb so I am use to pushing on the flat wide front of a rectangle.

Dang, although at this point in my journey I'm thinking replaceable batteries for my next mod, but those mods that are built tough may sway my decision.
