I wanna keep my ohms around .2. I just tried a single 26g parallel, 4 wrap, 3mm, .22 ohms. So I got the ohms where I wanted but it ramps up so fast, I'm assuming it's gonna burn.

Throw a few more wraps into the build to slow ramp up time. If it puts the ohms out of the range you are shooting for try wrapping around the 2.4mm screwdriver rather than the 3mm. You can also build using 3 strands in parallel rather than just 2 and adjust wrap amounts to hit your ohm range and ramp up time. When I switched to tube mechs I exclusively built 3-strand parallels with 26ga Nichrome 80 or SS316L and did 7 wraps around a 2.4mm screwdriver to wrap around and they worked great as long as you've got plenty of airflow with the rda you're using.
You're not drinking water are you?! You realize that stuff is found in antifreeze!?!
Three-strand rather than two is going to drop your ohms probably more than you can make up with extra wraps, lol, was just saying that's a Build I used for a good long while. Using 2 strands and adding the wraps will increase the ramp up but also bump your ohms up, but take those same two strands and the same amount of wraps but stepping down to the 2.4mm to wrap around rather than the 3mm should compensate and ohm out closer to what you're wanting. What's the vg/pg ratio of the liquid you're using? Sounds like it's burning a bit easy...might want to see about getting a juice with higher VG to keep any burning from happening.

.2 ohm with an 80/20 ratio shouldn't be burning up...that's odd. I use 70/30 mainly and never had it burn up. What is the setup you're using (mod and atty)...because the only thing I can think of would be not enough airflow or you aren't using enough cotton to wick. Are you getting a lot of popping when you fire it up?

24g Nichrome 80 was what I used when I burned through all of my 26ga, lol...regular old 2-strand parallel, 8 wraps around a 2.4mm...excellent vape as well

Hell if I recall...whenever I know what I'm building is safe I don't bother throwing it on a reader anymore and I've only used tube mechs for those builds, so, no display to read.

Tried this build again and it started burning at 50 watts. Air flow wide open. I have to inhale fast to get enough air to the coils so they don't burn the cotton.I've been running .2 ohm coils for years with no problem but with a single parallel coil using 24g, it ramps up instantly at 80 watts. Running it in a pulse 22. Air flow was closed half way.
I was running it at 80 watts on my drag because that's where it'll fire on a fully charged mech.
No popping at all.

Is juice making it to the cotton in the center of the coil? Sometimes if the wicking is too tight in there the cotton looks like it's wicking just fine on the outside, but inside the cotton is dry as a bone and it causes it to burn even though the cotton outside of the coil looks wet.

Which mech?

Stingray, eh? Never had one myself...why should you have gotten the 22 instead? The rda market has shifted almost entirely to 24mm as opposed to the 22mm.

I've had my eye on this stingray for over a year and was finally able to get one. I just love the way it looks. I agree finding a good 22mm rda has been a pain in the ass.

How do you like it so far? Is it your first tube mech?

I should have gotten the 22 instead of the 24...

It's not my first. I really like it. I like how it's smaller than most and have always admired the design. It's very well machined.
My only con is the switch. It has a tiny throw. Maybe a couple millimeters. Also the switch is very touchy. If you set it down without locking it, it's going to fire. That could be due to an old spring though.

Is there enough room in the button assembly to switch out the spring for a set of magnets?

How's that 24ga 3-strand parallel working in it?

Hope it works out for you, just started messing with single coils myself.
I've found if I build the same ohm that I vape on dual coils (.16-.2) in a single coil it's way too hot for my liking. What I do is just use one of the same coils I use in dual coil attys and it vapes great at half the ohms of a dual.
This vape isn't hot at all. Obviously depends on the rda but I got the air flow wide open. I'll have to play with that some.
I can't cut my ohms in half on a mech. I need that power and throat hit!
Might look into some premade claptons soon.

Premade claptons?
Grab a drill and get you some 32ga wire and start out with 24ga core with 32ga for the wrap...it's really not all that difficult to do yourself. When you get a decent technique you can go to 26ga cores and 36ga for the wrap. Once you can get that down pat you can make pretty much everything and it's fun as hell to tweak things to make it your own. Except for anything involving ribbon wire or any coils with the word "staggered" in it...builds involving those are the bane of my existence and the reason for a drill-shaped hole in my wall, not to mention the chunk of skin still missing from my finger...but aside from that, building your own is so much more fulfilling

I wanted to build my own a long time ago but could never find the time. Maybe I'll give it a shot. Can you make a single clapton at .2 ohms? Would the ramp up be horrible?
