Perhaps it's partly what you cut your teeth on. When I 1st started vaping, there were no high powered reg. devices (not sure if 20w was out at the time and nothing that would fire SubOhm). If you wanted to drip and SubOhm and get that saturated, dense, high-flavor vape-awesomeness, you HAD to learn how to build correctly and use a mech - so that's how I did it for prob a year and half or so. Flash fwd to now - I have a handful of reg boxes ranging from 20w to 165w (including a temp. control rDNA 40). But to this day, I still only feel that 'comfort' with a mech - I still feel like I have to use one of my mechs and a well built/wicked RDA when I want to get a 'real vape' ;-)

Maybe it's all in my head - but I understood EXACTLY what the OP was saying when I read it and I'm SO glad it's not just me!

I own both mechs and high powered VW box mods...
I build low for my mechs and not so low on the box mods..
I like my mechs but the vape time is only about 6 hrs..I get an all day consistent vape on my dual batt boxes...but I like them both...started off with mechs and still use them...but cleaning the switch becomes a pain at certain times, like down at the casino trying to win some $$.. Lol
