    Hi guys,

    I hope you're all well?

    Out of interest, I'm doing a bit of research into the below;

    • Most popular vape brand?
    • Most popular vape model?
    Thanks in advance.

How do you define "popular?" The most well-regarded/highly rated, or the one most have bought (whether or not it's collecting dust)?

Smok Alien appears to be the all-time best selling mod but that doesn't mean it is the best or even most liked now.

Depends on what I'm looking for. I buy a lot from MyFreedomSmokes.com and FastTech. FT is in China, though, and will take a couple of weeks to get to you.

If my memory serves me, I read in a vape trade paper that as of Sept 1st, 2017 the Smok Alien had passed the Eleaf Istick 20/30 in worldwide sales.

Perhaps Eleaf or Joyetech? Most popular vaping model might be a harder one to pinpoint, perhaps a pen style kit might be among this?

Personally, my favourite brand and the only one I have any kind of 'brand loyalty' to is GeekVape.

I'm going to define popular by what I've bought, own, and still use.
If you looked at my entire collection you'd see that I own quite a few Innokin products. With a few other brands tossed in.So to me the most popular would be Innokin.

From the mods I have owned, and what I have read, Segelei is among the top quality mods available. I have certainly had no problems with mine. God knows I drop it several times a day. lol. I hold it in bed, doze off and clunk...
I have the Segelei Kaos Spectrum model. Multi color led around the screen (presumably to find ejuice bottles in the dark) and buttons are far enough from the atomizer that they don't get flooded if you spill a little.
It is more expensive than many other mods, but cheaper than buying 2 or 3 or 4 of the less expensive ones when they go belly up.
Remember... most popular does not mean better. Usually it just means cheaper for the new vaper. Nothing wrong with starting off with a cheap rig to see if you like vaping, but later on, you may be looking for quality vs cost.

I think Smok is good for beginners, but you'll quickly want to move up to another brand. My first proper mod was an eleaf iconn 220 which is a clone of the Alien. Was nice for a while but I eventually settled on the Smoant Charon with at first a Crown III tank and now a Valyrian tank.

Really it's a matter of preference, though.

I think if you know you'll want to move up from Smok then you shouldn't buy Smok.

Yeah, you have to replace it every 3-4 weeks to keep them running
    Lmao!! Kidding :teehee:

Really though, the great thing about vaping are the options and combinations. Not to mention you’re on a hobbyist site, many of us have multiple mods. There also the issue of vape style. Overall the small pen style or pod systems probably sell to the masses more than the open systems.

If you really want to know the best selling brand, you’ll be better off calling some of the retailers.

You're right, but then newbies want to go with what everyone else is buying. I didn't know what to look for in a mod when I first started. The guy at the store suggested the one I got and said it was a clone of the Alien.

Lemmings and cliffs; kids and bridges.. Always good for a laugh, but then nitwits want to legislate the nitwits "safe".

Look, SMOK atties have a decent-following - their mods suffer horrible QC. Wismec? Well, the NC and NC v2 are nice, but I'd never buy anything else they made.. iJoy? Not interested. Joytech? meh.

HCigar is fairly good - Eciggity still sells the Vt133 DNA mod. (I think of it now as my Gold Standard). The Yihi SXmini M-class I got is another solid mod - as it should be for what they originally cost, (and still cost). The Gbox 200 is still holding up, so Geekvape is not awful. Eleaf Pico died - not mine at that point, new owner kept dropping it - but, my 100w and TC100w are still in the PIF/loaner/sale-bag. I'd like to try the Squeeze v2, but not enough to pay what is being asked. Never bothered with the Squeeze v1. Smoant is considered pretty solid, (as their old name Cloupor I was waay unimpressed). The Uwell Nunchaku is getting good reviews.

Any newb that is just going to buy from a store is most likely going to be robbed, so they might as well stick to the round stick-like stuff that are disposable. Or to something with a low cost using std 18650 - and not sensitive to BRAND NAME. (ie. the SMOK Osub baby tube only fits LG/HG cells, not 25R's and I didn't have my vtc5's to check in it).

For the entry newb, it's hard to fight the minimal investment in an Eleaf. Others might suggest Innokin. My biggest complaint when I was newb was those godrotted Ego/Twist buggers that would flake out in months.. If you are not replacing the battery, (using external chargers), expect waste/breakage every Quarter.. With an Eleaf, you can get at least a year of trouble free use if you expend at least as much safety/precaution as you would with a pair of new glasses.

Get a good charger, get no less than a 25R cell quality, buy at least 2 pairs. Get the apropos Eleaf. NOW you can settle on a subohm, RTA, or RDA. (and if you like RDA, then consider the Squeeze 2 and RSA).

    wotofo?

    present,

try beginner kits like the flux which you wont need to upgrade for a while as as you advance in vaping the wattage can still cope. from watts to 200

I don´t know if it is very common, but in my case it was a lot of research. I found maybe 3 or 4 online shops and looked at their repertoire (I live in Mexico, and here there is almost less than nothing available). Most common brand was Joyetech. Ok, I wanted to quit smoking and I got one of those little sticks and I was thrilled. After learning more, I found out that they had a mod, adjustable. Got that one and was happy, because I found out very fast that adjustable is sooooo much better. Then I learned about the tanks. Got me a mod and fitted a Cubis Pro on it, loved it too. So, now I own 4 different gadgets, and I really enjoy the fact that I can operate all 4 with the same brand coils, have 4 or 5 different Ohm values for them and I can experiment. Maybe that seems like retarded, but after all I have to work with what is on the local market. Just my really difficult situation and it keeps me from smoking and keeps me happy.

Since the Alien is so mass produced due to its popularity they have a lot of problems. Display problems, power problems...just different things. Many people never see these problems because they quickly move on to more advanced mods, but for extensive users of the Alien the issues become apparent over time. Take a look at Reddit for some of the many problems they have. That said, a lot of this could come down to so many people using it that the crowd is more vocal about it.

*sits here vaping on a brass Coppervape mod and a Nano Wasp RDA, alternating to the aluminum Coppervape with Gorge RDA* I don't think I'll get rid of these any time soon.

Duck season here, not goggles. I often forget though I'm connected and then ask something dumb. "Oh yeah, f me, I can use a search engine." I also forget what day of the week it is too, all the same day to me.

Bravo! Way to go and good on you. You took the initiative and found what you needed. You are also making do with what you can get. So often folks, any folks, forget they can make do. They get this urge to go get the best, even if it isn't the best for them. They think they need the best at ridiculous cost to seem cool, or important. I quoted your post for the truth in it.

Indeed. Also will add cost does not always dictate quality either. The Coppervape mods are now selling for under $20 USD. They are some tough mech mods. Granted I've dropped a few and broke them but that's on me not the mod. I think they could make them from stronger aluminum, aircraft grade aluminum maybe but then I'm sure the cost would be more.

    Well, I got to, ...

I was stuck on buying the most advanced mods on the market. Ones that could do everything from TC Curve (whatever that means) to washing my dishes. Then it struck me that the more features a mod has the more things that can break on them. I've had three ultra-hyped mods that were unusable just after their warranties ran out.

Now I stick to simple mods. The Tesla Punk, the Aegis Legend, the older Smoant Charon. My most advanced mod now is a Modefined Sirius, which is still pretty basic but feels a bit fragile.

No issues. The Tesla and Legend are built like tanks. I press the button and it gives me vapor. That's all I ask for. Not to say that the more advanced mods are bad. Just that if you're not going to use the features then there's no point in paying for them - even if the price is comparable. I'd rather buy a high quality low function mod than a lower quality mod with more features at the same price.

you know, it's hard to find a list of quality mouth to lung devices.
they seem to be marketed just to beginners.
