Okay, this is me coiling...

I buy my PT coils bulk from lightening vapes and they come like this:

My coiling kit:

Very important tools for me to coil. Needle nose pliers and flat head toenail clippers:

All the pieces that each head needs before assembling:

Assemble basic pieces with my coiling jig:

29 gauge wire threaded to the jig and leading bit starting a wrap to hold with pliers:

Holding onto the wire and jig bar to twist the jig head slowly making sure not to overlap wraps:

I shoot for 9 or 10 wraps to give me enough wire to use in assembling as I'd like my coil to be around seven wraps total:

After unwrapping some coils to give me longer legs to work with ending at 7 wraps left on jig bar for assembling:

Both legs through base held against the jig bar:

[/

Putting in the insulator with one leg through the center of the silicon insulator and one on the outside of the insulator. You have to work it in by pushing the sides of the insulator with your thumb nail:

All pushed in! Now trim the legs and put in the firing pin making sure the bar is heald tight against the bottom of the inner base:

Done!! :thumb:

Put in tank base and attach to a vv devise to check ohms, 1.5, looking good!!

Dry burn and compress coils:

It now reads 1.7...personally I'll rip it apart and redo this as I prefer 1.1-1.3 for my own use. :D

(In addition I've found the o-ring for the base is too thick and does not work. If you leave it off it is fine and will perform better. ;) )

Chimney off and head removed from base:

Old wick removed (tweezers are great for this):

Dry burn after the wick is removed:

[

Squeezing the coil after dry burning to make sure the coil wraps are all touching:

Amount of cotton I pull off to make a coil:

Twisting one end to feed through the coil:

Trimmed twisted end to make it easier to thread:

Through the coil:

Pull till you feel a bit of resistance:

Trim both ends:

Put back the chimney, twist it into the base and wet down the wick:

Ready to go!!

Love it! Saved all my used pt coils to recoil for the vape apocolypse, and generally have stuff to fart around with this winter. Great walkthrough hon!

Great tutorial :)

Have you tried using rayon (cellucotton) as wick, I started using it for my wife's coils, and she said she couldn't really notice a big change in flavor, but the wicks do seem to last longer though, so I don't have to redo them as much as before.

I have but I'm weird as I kinda like the new cotton taste...

Though I LOVE the rayon for my Reo and Dibi, no more painful dry hits!! :D

Hope so Distor! I know when I was starting my re-coiling journey I really could have used this. The videos are nice and show it happen real time but if you're stuck on something going back to a photo was something I really needed.

Exactly what I was looking for!!! Thank you!

I moved on from a PT 2 to Nautilus and now from that to Taifun's, but somebody I got vaping has a couple EVOD's that use the same heads, so I was just looking for a tut on how to re wick them and this is PERFECT..... Thanks for taking the time to put this up!

Thanks. Saw some videos on this and have been saving my coils for a while now.

Have you ever rebuilt the dual coils?

Looks like these might become more valuable with the new style hidden wick coils.

Bill

I rebuild them as single coil versions as I just don't want to even try dual! LOL

What gauge wire did you use?
What size core?
29 gauge and not sure about what I wrap around, it's 1/32? It's actually a tattoo bar from the guy who made me the jig...but small...

Thanks. I have 32g and it seems a bit thin to get a bigger coil so I'm on the prowl for a thicker wire. 1/32 is what I wrapped my around also. Seems to be a decent size to get wick through.

Also it also won't last very long at 32g. I can dry burn and re-wick the same coil for a couple weeks at 29. :)
