This is my first post so hello everyone. I am excited to join the forum. Just bought a Smok Alien TC 220w with "the cloud beast TFV8" as a tank. I have loved every minute of it. (I will post pictures). I am smoking 3mg nicotine in my liquid. I currently have it on about 80 watts not only to conserve my liquid and my battery, but because when I go over 100, I seem to get a iron taste in my mouth very similar to the taste of blood. Could it be my liquid? Am I doing something wrong? My tank says it's rated 50-260 but it says it's best 120-180. I'm just seeing if anyone could recommend any setting changes? Thanks so much.

Welcome. It depends on the juice. The taste you are getting is from stressing the coil and will burn quickly if you keep it up at that point. Best to keep it below burning out the coil. :)

So a thicker juice might help relieve the coil? Maybe the viscosity of my current liquid is too low?

I'm not into big clouds, I'm more into flavor, so I prefer my juice 50/50. Take your time between hits, and let the wick re-soak. Be careful about chain-vaping with thicker juice.

Gotcha. What's wrong with chain smoking thicker juice? It doesn't soak into your wick as fast so you risk burning your coil?

Exactly. The coils are replaceable but who wants to go through a coil a day? :D I'm nowhere near an expert, though, so hopefully someone else will come along with additional advice or to correct me if I'm wrong. (BTW, it's vaping, not smoking. A sensitive distinction for some.) ;)

When using a HellBoy V2 RDA after while I got the iron taste you're describing. I could never figure it out, but since binning it after the 510 pin was bent and using new RDA's I've never had that problem again.

Don't worry about what's on the coil. Just vape it where you like it.
Personally, I only used one T12 coil before switching to the rba deck. I put my own ss fused claptons in it, and never looked back.
