my kanthal claptons taste excellent in the derringer the kanthal ribbon tasted extremely good too. i thinks its more on coil type than coil material. also different juices vape differently some vape better at (i.e.) 400degrees than others. the nichrome will require more wraps to get the same resistance as a kanthal because the nichrome has less resistance per inch than the kanthal. this will give you more coil surface area at .4 than a kanthal coil at .4 meaning more coil contact to the juice thus making more cloud. so theyre equal imo just depends how you build your coils and what juice you vape
