INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone and welcome to another review. This is Pizza Dave and today I will be going over the Mag P3 by Smok. So yeah, I have NEVER reviewed a Smok product before, but when the opportunity presented itself, I felt like it was time to do one. Smok generally gets a bad rap in the vaping community for poor product quality standards, as well as churning out one product after another. However, a lot can be said for what they have accomplished. I had an Alien 220 back when they first came out, and it honestly was the first device that really pulled me into the vaping world more than any other. Sure, mine had no issues like many had, but the device did what it was supposed to do, and did it just fine. I haven’t really considered Smok in recent years, just because there were so many horror stories out there in regards to their products, especially the coils, so I am here today to see where they are at today and give my thoughts on the the Mag P3, which is a big, chunky device, which offers up 230w, has a large touch screen, IP67 rating, and is of course packed into that pistol grip MAG styling. Let’s get right to it eh?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
BEEFY. This is not a device for small hands. Even the box it comes in is a heavy, large box. I do want to comment that I was sent 2 by mistake. The 2nd one came with the tank COMPLETELY shattered everywhere. It was so shattered that it even had pieces of glass scuff up the paint on the battery door release button, so they need to work on packaging. Beyond that, there were several things I really liked about the mod. It feels great in hand and is probably one of the most comfortable dual battery devices for ergonomics if you have the hands to embrace it. As I first got it out of the box and started to navigate the device, one of the first things I noticed was the nice feel of the clicky trigger finger fire button and when it comes to adjustments, they really nailed it with the touch function on the screen. Batteries go in a hinging battery door, which has a very solid release button on the side. This door will not pop open on drops, and it has a very pleasant “gush” sound when you release the sealed door. If you do need to charge on the go or perform updates, you’ll find the USB port hidden behind a rubber flapper on the side opposite of the screen.

OPERATION
The Smok Mag P3 is a simple device to dive in and use. It has a large touch screen, which has great sensitivity, so it makes navigating the screen that much better. Beyond the screen, it has some other button combos that are really nice on the go as well.
As soon as you start vaping, the screen is in the locked position with an arrow indicated at the bottom. Swiping this unlocks the screen. Up and down buttons are at the bottom, which scroll wattage in 1 watt increments and TC in 10 degree increments. If you click on the top left symbol, it will open a menu and it will read out as follows.
That is really it. It is a well laid out menu and it is very easy to navigate. I never felt the need to reach for the manual at all and it would be a great device for a beginner. Since the screen has a nice size to it, it is also great for those with less than amazing eyesight. I like how they did it, and it’s one of the better touch screens I have used in a while.

HOW IT VAPES
Alright, so now we get into the real nitty gritty. How does this thing vape? As a wattage performer, it is spot on. The power output is there, and it ramps up very quickly. I used this for the majority of the time with the TFV16 tank, and they match up beautifully. Battery life takes a bit of a hit when vaping over 100w on a stock coil tank, but that is to be expected when it needs that much to deliver vapor. I did some testing with TC and it actually shows some promise. With the factor TC-SS setting (at 105), I found that the temp was very close to what I get on other mods with known to be good TC chipsets. It even started to back off as the cotton dried up. No, it didn’t totally cut out and prevent a dry hit, but with some playing, I am certain that it could do decent enough to run in TC. Honestly, I never thought they would get to this point, but kudos to them. Now on to the TFV16 tank that comes with the kit.
This is a monster of a sub-ohm tank. Several have already reviewed it, so I am going to make this quick. I started off with the large bore, single mesh coil. It was not very satisfying at all. It was a bit too airy, the flavor was just OK, and to top it off, it had a tendency to leak a little. No, it did not piss liquid everywhere, but I always found myself tipping it before use and wiping some liquid out of the bottom airflow. I moved on from this to the dual coil mesh and it is a much different vape experience. Flavor takes a huge step up (once cotton is broken in at ½ a tank) and it worked excellently. Air flow is cut back a little and I never had a drop of liquid leak on this one. I ran 75 mLs of Sadboy Mango Blood in it, which is rather sweet and the coil still looks new. Other notes on this tank is that it is a liquid drinking machine. The coils, especially the multi-core ones are HUGE, and they require a solid 110w to perform well. At that wattage, with mesh, liquid consumption is high. With this, you get to experience their top fill a lot, which is a hinging method once again, but it has a release bottom. I have a hard time believing this could ever open up accidentally, so they did well on this design. Another thing to note is that even at 9mL with the bubble glass, you will refill often. 9mL is great, but actually needed with this one. All in all, the TFV16 is not a bad tank. It could use some coil QC as we tend to see with Smok, but it provides good flavor with the dual coil and it is a nice pairing on top of the larger Mag P3 device.

- 5 clicks of the fire button turns the device on and off
- 3 clicks of the fire button locks out the fire button
- 2 clicks of the fire button turns on stealth mode, so the screen will always be off. 2 clicks turns stealth mode off

Up and down buttons are at the bottom, which scroll wattage in 1 watt increments and TC in 10 degree increments. If you click on the top left symbol, it will open a menu and it will read out as follows.
- MODE: TC-Ni, TC-Ti, TC-SS, and Watt. Within each mode you can set preheat settings, or TCR in each of the TC screens
- MY MODE: Which offers 4 preset wattage modes for you to play with. These include wattage, preheat, nicotine strength, and a spot to rename the mode. Once in MY MODE, these settings can be changed by clicking the MY MODE in the bottom right corner as well. There are no adjustment buttons on screen when in MY MODE.
- PUFF: Where you can play around and reset the puff counter.
- SETTING: Includes a sub menu
