A lot of us have lost a perfectly good mod by either drowning or dunking it in liquid.
Myself included
Some of us are handy with tools and have the knowledge to open up a mod, clean it and put it back together again.
I am not in that category.
About a month ago, I managed to drop my Wall Crawler mod into a large glass of wine (it was completely submerged for about a minute) and that is all it took to kill the mod.
A couple of weeks later started thinking (something not recommended by my Mrs.)and I came up with this idea.
I mean, what the heck, the mods a lost cause anyway, right?
I filled a large mug with Distilled Water and dropped the mod in it to soak.
Then I took the mod out, drained it (liquid just poured out of the USB slot) and repeated the process a few times until the liquid started coming out clear instead of wine red.
Then I drained the mod for a final time and just let it air-dry for a few days.
Then I filled the mug with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, $0.89 at your local Pharmacy.
Then I submerged the mod and let it soak. Took it out a few times to drain it and re-soak it and after a day of soaking, I drained it for the final time and set it aside to dry out for a couple of days.
Keeping my fingers crossed, I installed a freshly charged battery and the thing fired right up!
And believe it or not, the color display was not affected at all. Still clear and easy to see.
I decided this needed another test, fished out a mod that died (I think) because of a bad connector seal and some E-Liquid got inside the mod.
I repeated the process and it worked once again!
Any way, at this point I would invite any and all VU members that have held on to a drowned or dunked mod to try my fix and report back here.
What do you have to lose?
