Started building a few weeks ago, and here's some of my stuff so far. Everything is Kanthal and 0.4-0.6 ohm because KBox doesn't read below 0.4

22g/36g/38g dual Nichrome 80 clappies tonight int the Petri. Freaking explosive flavor in this build, and it pumps out the vapor as well. Dual 9 wraps w/ 2.4mm inner diameter clocks in at .14 ohms. Running it on my new Rage Modz parallel box. Went with both 36/38g just for fun and aesthetics, not really any noticeable difference between using just one or the other. I just LOVE the way these coils perform, and i'm grateful at their ease of construction as well. Anyways, on with the show......

Core wire from jacobs-online.biz
Clapton wire from twistedmesses.com
The use of all Nichrome 80 allows for a very large surface area, while still maintaining a low resistance for instant fire up time. Forget about choosing between flavor and vapor production. Forget what you know about claptons being slow to heat up and bulky. This style works wonderfully :p

Nice... So you wrapped both gauges around the core? Or is one side one and the other the other one? Pardon me being dense... :)

I don't super sub ohm I mean I had one it just went bad and I just never got around to doing it
http://www.shop.usaohmmeters.com
Honestly, these are the best. Buy one and it'll last you forever. I wasted a TON of money over the last 6 months on shit ohm readers. My eleaf lasted 3 weeks, that was the longest outta the bunch. My USA ohm reader is showing no signs of slowing down, plus it has a real 510, which is just nice. Well worth the $25-because you'll only spend it once :D

Its not just the total resistance, but also shorts. Especially when doing some of the 'fancier' builds.
Are the odds in your favor? Yes.
But why gamble? -just sayin

Dual 28/38g N80 fused clappies in the Praxis Derringer this evening. You can see in the video it's quite a rowdy lil' setup. Been using the Enano Comp Cap and still getting awesome flavor. Instant reaction from the fire button on these claptons, the coils were cold when i started firing in the video. Dual 7 wraps comes out to .23 ohms, but it acts like a .13 build. That's one of many reasons why tiny gauge claptons are my go-to builds. Great flavor, and fire up wonderfully

MXv42626Clapton4.jpg MXv42626Clapton.jpg MXv42626Clapton4.jpg I've always just built simple micro and macro coils and parallel builds and occasionally twisted builds with mainly A1 Kanthal, Nichrome 80 or Royal wire, but I've decided to start doing some Claptons. I ordered a bunch of wire, almost every size. I really enjoy vaping and making my own juice and rebuilding. I didn't want to wait on my high gauge wires so I did a 26 gauge wrapped on 26 gauge Clapton dual coil on the MX v4 and it ohmed out to .3. It's not a very warm vape but the flavor is great.

Twisted 30/38g N80 Clappies helixed with 26g kanthal & 28g N80. This build was a reminder to me why i love making silly coils-because this build performs so freakin' wonderfully. Full on flavor with the airflow WIDE open in the Twisted Messes atty. I've never been able to vape on her wide open without losing serious flavor. Until now.

Hey everyone! I'm new here, and into RDA's just a couple weeks, so nothing fancy to share yet. Here is my first attempt at a 26g twisted on a Madhatter. .36 ohm

Very nice!! .3 is a great (safe) resistance to build at while you learn, so double thumbs up! Looks a hell of a lot cleaner than my first dozen builds haha, great job!

Twisted 30/40g N80 claptons with 30g helixes. Spaced wraps just for fun, on the Dotmod Petri RDA. Dual 5-wraps clocks in at .178
Not really any advantage to the spaced wraps, just felt like mixing it up. They glow nice and even, since they don't touch you don't (or rarely) get any hot spots during the dry-fire stage. Nice, thick flavorful clouds-perfect for my favorite flavor atty and a relaxing night after work :p

Wasn't really happy with the twisted clapton with the helix from my last post, so I duelled up a sfc for my Mephisto. 2.5mm ID, 26g core with 30g clap/fuse. Ohms to 0.15

Second ever Clapton build. 24 A1 Core with 32 A1 shell 8 wrap 2.5 ID .3 ohms on the Mutation X v4. Good flavor and vapor but not warm enough for me. Performs well though.

Also thanks to all of you for the inspiration. I always thought these "fancy builds", except simple twisted wire, were goofy and not functional. I'm still in the early stages, but I'm seeing where different coil builds suit different flavors, RDA's and so forth. :D

@Vaping Cracker now you just start practicing with smaller and smaller shell wires ;) once you can do a fused clapton with 40g you can safely say that you are above average :) then there are the crazy gauges, 46, 50, even 55 gauge. Even the best builders struggle with those.

Nice build! Nichrome 80 would work a little better for you with the claptons if you don't think they're warm enough. Jacobs-online.com has an awesome selection, and so does twistedmesses.com. You might find the 36-40g easier to work with for wrapping claptons. Either way, keep exploring, and good luck!

Claptons on the Petri mod-22g core 36/38/40g wraps. Acts like a regular 22g coil, but the Nichrome allows for more wraps (better vapor) and the small gauge clapton wires add an immense level of flavor. Very happy with these, they perform beautifully and the 3 different clapton wires just make them more interesting visually. I haven't noticed any taste/vapor advantages of using more than one size clapton wire over just using one. But the smaller the wire the better the flavor seems to me. 40g nichrome has been a lot of fun to work with-after some initial frustration.

  1. I just started on my rebuildable journey 4 days ago. From the good people on this forum, i decided to go with 3 quality clones that were recommended.... The Plume Veiel, The Derringer and The Hell Boy. This is my fourth build ever, and i did it on the Derringer. Its simple, but effective!! Dual coil 9 wraps using 26g kanthal on a 2mm post. She fires at .47 ohm and I have her set at 46 watts. She can go higher ( fired her at 60w, but I find the sweet spot is 46-47w). I dare say she is a sucsess!! image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Been a REALLY long time for me since i used regular ol' macro coils, so i whipped up a pair using some 22g Anarchist Wire Nichrome 80. Vapor is pretty darn good. Flavor is as clean as i've come to expect from N80, though it is quite muted compared to what i'm used to. Definitely worth the extra 8 minutes it takes me to wrap this wire in 40g, it easily crushes the non-clapton version in terms of flavor. Still a fun lil build though, just wanted to make sure i could still wrap a coil outta straight wire haha
Dual 8 wraps clocks in at .15 ohms. 3mm ID
