New Bench! Along with new photoshoot stuff and chair! Took a while to clean the office all out for all the stuff and put it all together but now instead of having a 2ft x 4ft shelf to work in I have a 6.5ft workbench with velour laid drawers and a wise at the end. I think Im going to bolt down my swivels to the vise jaw so I can increase my wire length room by a foot if I wanted to (for wholesale activities)

17595843_410321896006856_1623141108357791744_n.jpg

I want to take off the photoshoot stuff and make its own bench on the back wall to free up the bench more but for now this is great....everything in one spot and plenty of room for both.

Some new stuff...

Quad Interlock Aliens...Ive only seen 3 other people make these and let me tell you, they are a nightmare, even with the tricks I used to pull it off.

Raymo your work is outstanding! Those quads are something else how do you even tame all of that lot from twisting up?

Nice work area :)

YEAH thats what i wanted to read!
We both know you can do it, you mastered the Framed staple AND the staggered so Throw both together

@raymo2u :
Love those Quad interlocked and i can really imagine why they are so rare. A Masterpiece from the Master himself. Great!!!

And your new workbench Must be a builders wet Dream :D

Well my 3rd attempt at the staggered fused clapton thanks for the button update @Carambrda worked a treat this time:) I ended up using a wooden clothes peg to push the button close to the wire, which both held the wire in place without having to sod about tying it on, and acted as a weight as well hehe ...These are spot on couldn't see any defects managed to make enough for 3 coils I'm bloody ecstatic!

Used 2x28g cores 316L, spaced wraps 38g 316L
Final fused wrap 38g 316L

Used a 2.5mm diameter and 7 wraps...These should ohm out about 0.37 each gonna put them into the pindad and white bone mini I think :)

Do you think we should tell OhmBoy Josh about how we managed to perfect the button trick, or just let him enjoy his uneven spacing? :D

My first attempt at a staggerton, used a very short length because I wanted to see if the button trick would work with ribbon. It came out ok but there is some wider spacings at the start, though the mid to end came out about right so I went ahead and tried to fuse it for practice. Also I'm wondering if it worked because I used 4ply .4ka1 and wondering if 6ply+ would cause the ribbon to snag on the button. I'll probably test with another short piece before going for it.stag1.jpg

Made a Set of Spaced Staple Staggertons.
8 ply 0.3 ribbon, 28GA Frames and 38GA Fuse.
Made all the spacing by hand.
6 Wraps @ 3mm maybe 0.12 Ohm Dual.

Right onto the next coil type what shall I try next? :)

1) staggerton
2) alien coils (I'm yet to make enough for two decent coils)
3) dragon skin
4) tiger coil
5) stitched something or other
6) something else I haven't listed

Can't do anything corrugated yet don't have anything to corrugate them with at the moment
Haha, I like #2 cause it's what I've been stuck on forever.

Nice work mate :D
I would recommend to use the oldschool loop method for that, either with a spare finger (like I do) or a weight.
I love the button method for staggering, but tried it with 0.3 n80 ribbon and totally failed.
The wire through the button had to be to tight, and faster than I could react I had some neat twisted and messed (twisted messes?:D) ribbon.

Simple math.... When you took 4ply of 0.4x0.1 ribbon then your staple has a perfect square in diameter since it is exact 0.4x0.4 mm.

I guess that's the reason why it worked.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too, is because it was pretty much square it ''rolled'' around the button but any bigger will probably kink the ribbon. Will probably just try the stagger with the goon barrel and cap as a weight. The final fuse is easier for me than the SSFC though which is what I was pondering on, after doing those for like 2 weeks straight and getting two sets. Will try more tomorrow, build on peeps.

Im not sure on how I did it that time...right after posting them I attempted a 5 strand interlock and I failed, then after that I tried a 3 strand and couldnt do it either...that single attempt may be the only attempt that ever works....I have a bunch of coils that I did for the livestream tonight that Im going to take some quick shots of tomorrow though.
For those playing with paraclap should try my ziplock technique if you havent already...then try staggering 4ply .4 or .4 ribbon and then play with the staggered ribbon as a frame for some added possibilities.

Some ideas:

Well folks my 1st attempt at the mighty Staple Staggered Fused Clapton well pleased with these although my final coiling left a little to be desired today sigh...hopefully when I mount them on something I can sort some of that out

3mm diameter 7 wraps should come out about 0.43ohm per coil

2x28g KA1 frames with staggered 38gNI80 wrap
4 x 0.4x0.1mm KA1 ribbon
Fused with 38gNI80

Thanks mate hehe ...this SSFC was not an easy build for sure! It's actually easier working with more ribbon (6ply) as apposed to less (4ply) ...well that's what I've found so far anyway ...gonna have a crack at a staggerton when I get my new wire bits through

had a load of left over crap ends from the past few coil build thought sod it waste not want not Bung em all together should taste pretty good lol

I've found the same thing to be true about the 4ply .4 ribbon with SSFC and staggertons so far. I feel like being square seems to make it easier for the ribbon to roll around inside the frames. Tried a 6ply and it was easier to hold together without twisting inside, though too much pressure on the wrap wire and the frames can get wonky. Nice job on the SSFC!

Haha just freakin
Reminds me of the legendary "Hellfire gargoyle hoof Coil"
Maybe you could Throw out a tutorial for These ?

LoL yeah just like that wow can't believe there is a guide out there for this?
...what Grimm left out was that little L shape he snipped off earlier in the build he forgot to use it in the hammer step (I told him this before he ran that vid!) well anyway you have to have it poking out of the top of the cotton in the "hammer thing" like a little 26g flag pole ...thats how you end up with it looking like I've got it ...bloody ametures

I really struggled with the ribbon too. The biggest problem i had was straightening it. No I just use what comes on bigger spools like Kindey Puncher. If needed give it a nice firm pull and your feel it strech and straighten out.

Nice machine not at all easy working with those high gauges! ...they are spot on matey
thanks  yeah 30/40 aliens is a tough build at first. it really helps you refine your techniques though. my first try was full of lumps and blips. my second was a fail. my third was not perfect but i got a nice pic of it, and the rest have been like this. for some reason i still get really stressed out about sitting down to build them though :gaah:

i really like it with ka1 cores and a couple extra wraps on unregulated series too. this is the first time i tried ss in this config for a single battery mech. its a bit cool but it lights up very fast and still gives a pretty nice vape. should be easy on the battery in my squonker for going out and about. i might try it with one less wrap, or at 2.5mm and see if its a bit hotter for a regular tube...

Well I got my other wire bits through now so gonna have another crack at aliens using 26g 36g should find it a bit easier ...once I master that then move up to the thinner stuff ;)

can't believe how thin 40g is christ almighty how Raymo ever used 50g beyond me ...still gonna try some 30/40 stuff with the builds I achieved so far should allow me to reduce number of wraps

Right gonna go make em now ..

Finally managed to knock out enough for dual Alien coils

3x 26g KA1 core
36g NI80 wrap
3mm diameter 6wraps should come out about 0.32ohm per coil

So much easier to work with lower gauges!, also only stretched the clapton a tiny bit before the final winding just held it a bit tighter on the final wrapping much much easier that way didn't try to snag up on itself once! Had drill full speed as well just used some ribbon wire to hold the cores in place and move it as I went .... the bottom coil is a bit ropey towards the end but i was running out of clapton by that point LoL doh

Tell you one thing though not pleased with how dirty crazy wires kanthal is have to wipe everything with vodka before I do anything it's a PITA need to get myself one of those ultrasonic cleaners to put my coils in really before I vape with them

Lookin good! Gotta get that RDA. I'm finally to the point were i can wind 12" of Alien without a bobble. I use Mterks process with one exception. I still use a clamp in the middle. I figure stopping and starting up at that point is no biggie cause if i get a little mess up it will wont matter. The clamp is still a crutch i need till my prep work gets better.

I figure stopping and starting up at that point is no biggie cause if i get a little mess up it will wont matter. The clamp is still a crutch i need till my prep work gets better.

If you do get it ...unless you like low profile chuff caps I recommend getting yourself a goon/Kennedy drip tip (if you don't have one already) fits perfectly otherwise you'll be pressing your lips next to the top cap which gets pretty warm

Hi guys,

Started taking my coil building seriously around end of Feb, early March and posting on Instagram. Ive always made coils but mainly Fused Clapton or round wire builds. Had a few goes at Aliens too in the past, was never very good at them. Always struggled with them and just about get 2 coils. Id probably made about 3 pairs of Aliens up until a month ago. Finally figured out I was always over stretching my decore. So since the beginning of March I've been practising, and trying to learn the basic builds. Im trying to have a go at each type, Staples, Framed Staples, SSFCs, Aliens, Staggertons and now onto Mohawks.

Ive had the CSMNT for a few weeks and its been sitting there waiting for me to get a build in. I chose to try out Mohawks because of the build space available, and thought 3mm Mohawks would fit in nicely. So made these at the weekend as I love the look of them, but thought they were impossible.

Next I want to try Tsukas and Frailens. Then start adding stitches and interlocks.

Thanks guys. Love the Razorback variant too.

Since I've been posting on this thread on page 277
My favourite coil porn to date belongs to @Whiskeywarrior (on the same page) don't get me wrong loads of absolutely fantastic builds coming from everyone, some really mindblowing exceptional work but those coils he posted are something else just love them and the pic ...wanted to make them ever since I've seen them just lack the skill at the moment hehe
