Rose 3 TPD Problems

My first post ever in a forum so please forgive me if anything isn't right, but here goes.
I've been vaping for a couple or years. I've used tanks, RDA's, and clones of anything that is usually expensive. Roughly I've used wotofo Troll RDA, Subtanks of various sizes, Nautilus Mini, Mutation xV4, Velocity clones, Lemo 2, Wotofo Serpent, Avocado 24 among others. I'd gone back to the cigs for a bit and then coming back to vaping I decided for once I'm going to get an authentic flavour machine that will help motivate me to love vaping once and for all. I got the Eden Mods Rose 3 TPD on the strength of rave reviews and the belief I was investing in a quality item that would last me forever.

The rose came in the post and I was so excited. It looks awesome and people rave about it. But the thing is, it is probably the worst vape I have ever had period. It's hot and dry and flavourless. People bang on about the machining but I had to use the tweezers to pull of a big sliver of metal from around the 510 pin. I've tried builds with 24 guage to 28 guage, from 2mm ID to 3.5mm ID, but I always seem to get the same result. What am I doing wrong? I'm really gutted that this doesn't seem to be working. I honestly get a better MTL vape from my lemo 2 and I never really rated that. What build should I be using? I mainly just use Kanthal but my Alien 220 mod is capable of TC so that's an option I never tried, but surely a premium atty shouldn't need such specialist setups to shine? Honestly I want to love this thing but at the moment looks are all it has going for it. Please, what am I doing wrong?

Did you try a simple 24g 2.5mm 5 wrap....According to flavour chasers suppose to be solid build in it?

Could try something like a Clapton or fused Clapton in there as well but sorry I dont own the Rose so can’t say it’ll be better with these in or not :(

Yeah, that sounds similar to the build that Damien from a bloody good vape used, and other reviewers had suggested too. I did that man. I haven't used a Clapton yet as I had a big clear out of all the stuff I'd amassed a while ago. I'll have to make some more. The thing is even the simple single coil builds I've tried seem hot and dry. I'm worried anything more complex will just be hotter still. I dunno man, maybe this just isn't for me but I had such high hopes for an atty people give perfect scores to

not a Rose owner, but it has a big fan base of experinced vapers....I'm sure it's a stellar vape, but each and every atty has it's pecularities that have to be understood to make them really shine...keep looking for Rose owners that can help you crack the nut..I'm sure it will pay off for you.

Thanks for the pointers so far peeps. I'll try and knock up some new clapton wire if I have time today. I was hoping to be able to just use simple high ohm builds and mtl, the Rose just seems too hot as it is. I used to run dual coils in my Magma clone and that had a small chamber but it still didn't seem as overly hot as this. When the magma was hot it was wet at least. I know that's a dripper and a different story I suppose, and the chamber on the rose is super small

So finally got something resembling decent flavour. 27 guage kanthal 5 wraps on a 3mm ID. Instead of my usual cotton bacon I used some japanese cotton i bought online that comes in the sort of layered pads where you can peel the top and bottom off. Maybe the cotton was key, though cotton bacon always served me well before. Still searching as I'm still not totally on board with the 10/10 scores reviewers are giving this thing. Also on 1.3ohm at 16w at the mo

I get great flavor from a nc60 2-3 mm I'd in my avacado. Is say that is my most flavorful atty and build

That's cool man. I've never tried anything but kanthal, and I've got metres of the shiz left. I have the avocado 24 and I've had some gorgeous vapes from that. Vaping pancake french toast or rocket man is beautiful on it, but I have been trying to master this rose 3 as something that requires less building and is more portable. And get my money's worth out of the big investment. I'm currently rocking that same build after a dry burn and my second wicking. Going to have to give it a go with cotton bacon again, I'm worried that japanese cotton is the secret and I'm gonna have to order my wick online again rather than the convenience of getting cotton bacon in a shop. On the plus side I'm finally getting a taste of why some people love this manabush. I do like tobacco vapes when they are good and this is good. Love the one with chocolate overtones as well as the chiricahua sun (don't know how you're supposed to say that).

Can see how you were disappointed - but bet you can get this thing humming eventually :)

Just to add to the conversation, here is my inexperienced two-cents on the Rose V3 non-TDP compliant attie, which I put together for the first time last night :)

Two things I dislike very much:

I too was very, very disappointed in the machining - such an expensive attie should move like butter - the threading on mine is very crunchy - I was pretty shocked/disappointed by that.

And that so-called AFC ring was a bitch and a half - mangled it pretty badly before getting it back in position after more than a dozen tries and watching their pedantic video on how to put it in repeatedly, lol - but it seems to be holding okay, just refilled it for the first time and no problems

If I had not watched a lot of reviews before buying, would have definitely lost the AFC ring - which should really be named "pokey ass wire that will make your finger tips bleed, you mouth cuss and your brain leak out of your ears."

With that said - this is an impressive, true MTL attie with outstanding flavor :)

Built mine with triple twisted, fused clapton 32/3 40 - 3mm 7 wraps, legs are pretty long as Damien said it is widely believed that the higher the coil, the less TH, which is what I was aiming for. Cotton Bacon all the way, wicked it like Damien did.

Took me awhile to get the juice control to where it wicked well, and that DT is not to my personal liking - for vaping or controlling juice flow - but that is a personal like/dislike and will not be a minus for everyone

Now for comparison, I hold up the Petri RTA as the gold standard for a flavorful RTA - the Rose 3 is damn close with this first build, which is impressive to me, as the Petri RTA is a double-coil DL attie, and the Rose a MTL single coil
