smoant charon 218 tc VS Voopoo mod

Hi guys & girls

I need to purchase a new mod (bc all my smok mods have internal problems).... I was looking at the Smoant Charon and comparing it to Voopo's Drag and or Alpha 1....

My main concern is performance and reliability, I have been burnt in the past (smok) by purchasing the sexy/new mod.. I am looking for some insight in comparing Smoant VS Voopoo..

Lastly, I have a mac. Many vaping companies (smok) do not support Mac OS operating software for firmware updates.. Its not a deciding factor but 1 to keep in mind.. Any and all advice, insight or support would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Harve

Smoant Charon is a great mod but I like the Voopoo better. Instant power, well built, extra panels if you want them, good battery life.

Can't go wrong with either one IMO. I really like them both. The Voopoo definitely has an edgier feel to it. I love my Black framed Drag. I think it looks 10 times better than the silver. I did a full review of both mods here.

FYI Voopoo just came out with the Alpha One and Smoant also has a VW version of the Charon as well as a touchscreen model. I have reviewed the Alpha One and the Charon VW but not the touchscreen version yet. That review will be dropping soon though. Here they are just in case you want to have a look.

Hope this helps you in your decision.

They are both great. Both work great in tc although voopoo drag is a little more difficult to fine tune than the charon. I am using both in tc and cannot recommend one clearly over the other. If I had the money, or could plan for it, get both.

I just ordered a Voopoo Drag. I was considering the Charon and still might snag one. I do not want the newest version of the Charon with that big touch screen. Looks like that thing would eat up battery power.

I'm in the same boat, been eyeing the drag, charon and either the ipv vesta or eclipse. Currently using a smok alien and so far so good. No real issues, a tiny bit of paint chips here and there despite using a silicone sleeve since day one. The temp control was really disappointing, I figured it would be at least decent. My istick tc100w the temp control was ok, it worked for the most part and it was less expensive than the alien.

Not really fond of the high battery cutoff on the smoant's. Some people have commented on the charon's 510 being loose and the only way to tighten it is to remove one of the wires inside first to get to the nut.

The ipv's caught my eye because of their size/shape being similar to the alien which I really like. I've seen some reviewers with issues on the 510 not being deep enough and leaving a gap between the mod and atomizer. It can be screwed down a bit I think but not sure if it screws the wire inside also. Would hate to bust it off trying to get an atomizer to fit flush.

Not sure if I'd like the battlestar or not, haven't used anything shaped like it. Looks a bit wide where the 2 batteries fit. Not sure how much tc accuracy difference there is between the yihi, gene chip and smoant's chip.

I don't have the Drag, but I do have the Charon and have been very pleased with it. I've been using it quite a bit over the last couple months and have had zero issues. I've been using it primarily in TC mode and it works better than most other mods at it's price point. Fires quick in Power mode too, so no complaints.

Just a quick note on the drag. The TVF 8 and other atomizers with long pins sometimes display short. To fix it take the top of the battery wrap and just put it on your 510. Problem solved. Only some atomizers do this but just take the top bit off the battery and then never worry about it again.

At this general price, I'd probably go with an Aspire Speeder. Reports are TC is very solid and it has configurable temp and power curves with a nice graphical UI.

Owning both the charon and drag and seeing the abilities of both, I dobt know about that. The battery door on the speeder looks like a future problem and the first thing to break. I stopped there.

I'd rather DIY a fix for that than a loose 510. Taking chances at this price level regardless. IMHO, I think the Aspire chip is superior to the others.

Just making an observation. We all have choices. I also have not issues with any of my charon 510s.

Neither of the Charon have a loose 510, on both reviews I took them apart to show the 510 is secured with a nut from underneath so no chance of coming off.

That's good and they'll all good choices for the $. I keep eye out for when my wife loses or breaks her mod but I'll stick with my $Xmini G Class. Untouchable performance and build.
