Vicks Baby Vaporizers

My local vape shop just posted this on their FB page, The similarities between our vaporizers and the "Safe For Babies" Vicks Waterless Vaporizers are shocking. Both use an electrical current to make the vapor, both contain glycol. The "Vapopads" have "scented oils" and our juice has flavoring. The only real difference is ours may or may not contain nicotine. So its safe for babies to vape but its bad for us? o_O Obviously babies are not directly inhaling the vapor, but they are sleeping in a room filled with scented glycol vapor. The package on the Vicks "Vapopads" lists glycol as an ingredient but it does not say what kind of glycol. I can only assume Vicks had to do some rigorous testing on inhaling vaporized glycol before these products where deemed safe for babies & children. It would be interesting to see the results.

Edit:
This link from drugstore.com http://www.drugstore.com/vicks-vbr-5-pediatric-vapopads/qxp226769 lists the ingredients as:

Glycol, Eucalyptus Oil, Rosemary Oil, Camphor, 42, Lavender 40, Others

I remember the old room "Vaporizers" from when I was a kid with cough or cold.

They were big beast that held a quart or two of water, basically a room humidifier and there was a small compartment near where the steam came out where mom would put a big old glob of Vicks Vapor Rub.

Thinking this is a new version of the old dog with a new trick.

I keep a jar in my glove compartment.

When I have to visit a place for business that smells so bad it would knock a buzzard off of a wagon full of fresh shit, a glob smeared in my moustache saves the day!

So much for the 2nd hand vape argument, eh? (not that it ever had any merit, but...)

Looks like I was wrong when I said people are not directly inhaling the Vicks Vapopads. Check out the Vicks Steam Inhaler that uses the same "Vapopads" that contain glycol. So these are safe but our vaporizers are not?

I have a relative who is a Coroner, when she gets "the juicy ones" she puts a smear of Vicks under her nose to kill the stench.

I can't imagine those kind of vaporizers have changed much in the last 50 years - my grandma used one with just a smear straight out of the jar plopped on top of the heating element that you drop into the water. I went out and got one for my daughter a few years back when she was sick and it was pretty much the same device we had 30 years ago, just more cheaply made.

Guessing these pads are just a more expensive version for people too squeamish to deal with actually handing the Vicks.

Good idea about getting a little bottle for the car, on the rare occasions I have to recover and trash out a rental property post-eviction things can get pretty ripe...

You have not lived until you have had to visit a "Rendering Plant". Ever wonder where dead livestock, deer and assorted road kill that is picked up by the county goes? The local rendering plant where they make useful stuff like glue and gelatin (you will never enjoy Jello in quite the same way again).

I remember I had to take a newbie engineer with me once and he totally lost his lunch (and breakfast and last nights dinner) when he saw a guy sitting on a decaying dead horse eating his lunch. The ignorant SOB also insisted on wearing a suit.

I wore clothes that I was going to throw out anyway. It is really hard to wash off that stench!

I wish vapors would stop attempting to find a way to convince themselves vaping is safe. Assume it is not and that it is possibly only safer than s
Cigs. STOP BLOWING VAPE CLOUDS FOR YOUR CHILDREN TO PLAY IN!!! Let's note forget as parents we are our children's biggest influence. If they see you vape, there is a high chance they will want to vape. Vaping is not something I'm OK with my daughter doing. If not vaping around her will decrease the chances of her trying it, it is what I'll do.

My Mom just slapped a big old glob of Vicks Vapor Rub on my chest and said "don't get any of that in your eyes"!! :D

Believe it or not, there's a juice that smells *exactly* like Vicks Vaporub - and works just as well to clear a blocked nose too: it's this one. It's supposed to imitate the taste of Finnish tervaleijona candies, only it fails miserably. But as a Vick Vaporub imitation, it's perfect. I love it :)

I've also tried to use Vape Clouds in mini cloud chamber tests with insects.

Nicotine is an insecticide, and insects respirate every single cell to the outside (no lungs or circulatory system)

So gas or liquid poisons are far more effective on them, as compared to humans.

Have yet to harm or kill the smallest spider or ant, so VAPE ON!

So when they ban vaping, can us DIYers make our own pads and use one of these things, legally? :)
