i bought a couple of different taps. you must also note that some cheaper tap and dies are for rethreading only.

I've found these to be the best as they are very strong and can thread practically anything, ss, glass, plastic etc and they thread to the bottom. one is for the rough cut and the other for the finish:

i also got these. they are longer and handy for more difficult spaces but as you can see they're pointed - so you won't be threading all the way to the bottom:

Right-hand Dies. quite strong. i've used them a few times and they aren't showing any wear yet. i've also used them to rethread some 510 tanks which would've otherwise rethreaded my mod's 510 connections:

You may also want an Adjustable Handle Wrench if you don't already own one. i bought this. it has a lot of scope and torque and have found it comfortable to use:

This is not my area of expertise, so I've had a read up to try and be as accurate as possible for anyone reading. Wiki charts recommend 6.3mm - 6.5mm.

This is a good read actually http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tap_and_die#Tap_drill_sizes

Also - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_drill_and_tap_sizes > scroll down to Examples >

(edited extract):
  • Example (metric fine): For M7.0 × 0.5, 7.0 × .90 = 6.3
For metric V threads, major minus pitch yields a good tap drill diameter:
  • Example (metric fine): For M7.0 × 0.5, 7.0 − 0.5 = 6.5

In short, you don't want to be making harder work for yourself by churning out more than you have to. So 6.3mm - 6.5mm

If you also want a Die Stock - 1" / 25mm. On the following link (if you scroll down their page you'll see a table) select 25mm from their drop-down list or search "die stocks" and look for either 1 inch or 25mm:
