Which coils last longer? Aspire or Kanger?

    Hello all,
    I currently own a couple Kanger protank3's. They are good but they leak when the coil goes out and the coils seem to go out quite often.
    I only use the vape a few times a day and I am changing the coils every 10-14 days, it seems a bit excessive...

    People keep suggesting I try the Aspire Nautilus X mini.
    Besides having to spend the cash on the tanks, the coils cost 1/3rd more.
    I don't want spend the money on the tanks, only to learn later I am chained to $6 a month per tank in coil costs...

    I have seen videos where people rebuild the Kanger coils, and while this seems do-able if I am going to go down this route I want more "wiggle" room...

    So, in your opinion(s) who's coils last longer and roughly by how long?

    Thank you in advance for your help!!!

    I'd just recommend an RTA or an RDTA and be damned - coil heads prices are outrageous and QC can go bad any time. Only reason I can see to advocate them at all is for someone that is disabled or a senior - lacking in motor-skills/vision.

    You can pick up a clone or used R[D]TA for under $20, sometimes under $10. Wire can be had for even less. Wick, same-same. With a box of Rayon or a bag of organic Jap. coton, total investment is still under $40 and now you are pretty well set for years of wicking, Wire? 28, 26, 24 gauge - SS (TC/VW) and/or Kanth (VW).. Less than $10 can get you started. Should last for months, even allowing for a dozen or so "what if?" builds to start.

    Once you get a decent build in there, you can usually deal with changing only the wick every 3 days to 2 weeks for at least a month. I think most of us just get tired of the current build and recoil when the whim hits, too.

    Familiar looking avatar are you from ECF?

    I use the Nautilus X and get great life out of my U-Tech coils and a Rafale which the gold plated coils last forever but I do not have that particular Kanger tank you mention but the Rangu also lasts and lasts like energizer batteries.

    @PoppaVic,
    Thank you for your reply.
    I would love to get into an RDA, but they all seem to be made up for sub-ohm set ups.
    I am a mouth to lung smoker and I am not looking to produce such huge plumes of smoke so sub-ohm doesn't appeal to me.
    Do you know, could I get one of these RDA's and make up coils for 1.8ohms and use it with a regular eGo battery or would I still have to get a special battery to use this?
    I would love if there were an eGo style rebuildable coil out there.

    Thank you

    @SteveS45,
    Thank you for getting back to me.
    How long do your Nautilus X coils last?
    I am a light smoker perhaps 10-20 puffs a day and I am going through coils every 10-14 days with the Kanger.

    @Chris Edward I used eGo style devices with Kanger and Smok coils for years, never could get them to not leak. The second gen Kanger coils for the Protank 3 seemed a little better, but still not reliable. Switched to Aspire and never looked back. I am absolutely certain that my coil cost overall has been less with Aspire coils because the life of them is considerably longer. Also I was not constantly having to fiddle around with them, blow them out to stop the gurgling, and wipe juice off my hands.

    I have used authentic Aspire BDCs, BVCs, Nautilus BVCs, and Triton Minis. Have several sub-ohm tanks that will take Aspire V1 coils that I'm now using Vaporesso ccell .9 ohm coils. Have to admit that the ceramic Vaporesso coil is superior by far to any sub-ohm cotton coil I've used before.

    For an eGo battery, I'd recommend Aspire ET-S or Mini Vivi Nova (make sure the tanks are glass) with 1.8 ohm Aspire BVC coils. Most people get better performance from the BVCs than the BDCs, although both of those coils will fit both of those tanks.

    You can find Aspire ET-S easier in online vape shops, and will probably have to go to eBay for the Mini Vivi Nova glass. The only drawback I found with the Vivi Novas was airflow, sometimes you have to loosen them a little from the battery to get the airflow right. Airflow and draw pressure are important in that you have to balance those two things in order to get the juice flowing into the coil right. This is what really stops gurgling and flooding. If you aren't getting enough air, and end up drawing harder on the tank, that's when juice comes flooding into the coil.

    Hope this helps. Good luck with it!

    My suggestion

    Aspire nautilus bvc coils 1.8 last me 15ml-30 mls easily. Best replaceable coils for mtl in my opinion. Eightvape has them for $6.99 for a 5 pack. I use them with a Kabuki and Kabuki clone . I like the clones better as they don't have the p3 connector adaptor , only the 510. Never , ever one leak. If you order the clone throw away the orings and glass. Use the regular Aspire Cleito glass (eightvape $2.99) with the OEM Kabuki orings. The o rings can be found at Mt Baker vapor and the clones which I use are from Fasttech.

    House of Hybrids also has o-rings and quartz glass to fit Kabuki clones. I like their "scratch and dent" section for drip tips and glass - can't tell the difference between $5 glass and $10 glass, or $4 drip tips and $20 drip tips. I love K-clones, have outfitted all my MTL devices with them now.

    Oh, and I also have not EVER had one to leak, not even a little.

    The problem I have with the original quartz glass is that sometimes it pulls out the coil while unscrewing to fill it. The Cleito pyrex glass is the exact same fit only it's 1mm taller. This means that even if you screw it down tight it never pulls the coil with it while filling. Also, you can fill it to the exact top with juice and have a little more air trapped to wick better. 50/50 Tmaxx is my go to juice with the Nautilus coils.

    Well that is good reasoning. Thank you for explaining. I will have to try a Cleito glass next time I need one.

    My Nautilus X coils last months because of the type of usage. But are you the guy on ECF?

    @Chris Edward the kind of eliquids you use will play into this as well. If you are using juice with lots of sweeteners and such (dark vanilla flavors, etc), the mileage of those coils become much less.
