Most of us have been doing it for a good bit, others are learning and still putting out some nice builds on this thread. Most of the builds you see are done out of curiosity or inspiration, some like the Aliens need guidance from videos...

Cool yeah I'm new to building, before I joined the forums a friend of mine gave me some wire of unknown gauge said it was nichrome, when I tried a coil it melted, so I twisted some lengths together and they came out pretty good, I did buy some prebuilts recently until I can get the hang of it, going to try simple Clapton's first

Clapton are best with thinner outer wire but for starters try 32 ga or so. Hell my hands don't let me use smaller than 36... yet

Even with a Magnifying Glass on a Swivel, it was hard to see it go on, you couldnt even tell it is a wrap unless you feel it.

Next time before you wrap it try flattening it slightly, not to make the wire flat but to make it so it can be wrapped without it waring

Could file out the inner holes and then thread it but it would make it harder to wrap without breaking it, I twisted 34g in with my 2x24g Boneyard...

This can happen if the middle wraps are not as tight as the outer wraps or vice versa.
Take not how much closer of farther you need the twists to be to make them line up even next time, make sure you take some pliers and pull on each end with some decent force while holding the other end, it will tighten it up and if you can get them aligned then if you have a torched you can torch them to get them to hold in that position afterwards. You could also if your going to toss it try getting it on a smaller bit and tighten it around it, it may get them to line up.
