Stocking up Recommendations For The Upcoming EU TPD

Unfortunately for us here in the EU the TPD (Tobacco Products Directive) will come into full force and effect on the 20th of May, the first thing that will be banned is Nic bases in bottles larger than 10ml and concentrations higher than 20mg/ml followed by RTAs/RDAs and tanks with more than 2ml capacity.

I am preparing to stock up on Nic Base supplies for at least two years, i have been using VPG base by Chemnovatic Poland, which is a 70/30 VG/PG 6mg/ml Nic base, it is pre-mixed for ease of use, so all i do is just add my flavors and let it steep.

I used to buy 0.5-1L bottles at a time, and i usually use it up within a few months from opening, the bottles have a 2 years shelve life if unopened and one month after being opened and exposed to oxygen, but with the 6mg/ml concentration the base does not change color even after 2 or 3 months from being opened, and i just usually keep it in a cool and dark place, not in the fridge.

I use an average of 10ml/day, so to be covered for 2 years i need from 7-10L of 70/30 VG/PG 6mg/ml liquid.

I need your help with making this order:

1- should i order 10L of pre-made 6mg VPG base or should i just get 1.5L of 36mg/ml and dilute it myself?
2- should i get that in two big 5L containers or 1L and 0.5L of the higher concentration, or is it better that i get it in 100ml bottles so that i do not expose the base to oxygen long before use?
3- Should the Nic base be VG-based, PG-based or VPG pre-mixed?
4- should i keep it in the fridge or the freezer? is it safe to freeze nic base?
5- Is there a better base producer you can recommend in Europe that you think is better (or cheaper) than Chemnovatic?

Thanks.

I'd order max milligrams (which I think is 72 mg where you are?), glass amber bottles, split it up when you get it and store it in the freezer. I buy 100mgper ml by the liter and do this here in the states.

The highest concentration available to individuals if purchased directly from Chemnovatic's main supplier is 36mg, the reason i prefer Chemnovatic is that they use pharmaceutical grade packaging, comes in sealed tick PE bottles with production, expiry dates, batch numbers, and QR code, so it is the most trusted source i know of, maybe there are better producers or higher concentrations i just don't know of any yet.

I pay a certain amount of $ per mg of Nic, so high or low concentration does not change the final price a lot since it all works out the same price at the end, it only changes the volume i have to store.

The thing is, Chem seals their packages in a nitrogen environment so as long as it is unopened there is no oxygen inside and Nic does not change color with time, i am afraid if i split it myself some oxygen will get inside and it will oxidize, this is why i was thinking maybe buying 100ml bottles is a better idea but of course it will be more expensive per ml.

Also the 6mg/ml VPG base i have does not change color even after few months of opening due to the low concentration, i am afraid if i go with higher concentration it will oxidize faster,

Also you did not commend on the base itself, is it better be VG, PG or VPG?

What do you think?

I buy in PG because it's easier to mix. I read somewhere here that it holds up better in the long run in PG, but I'm not sure on that myself and can't remember who said it. When I split mine, I put it into 100ml bottles, filled nearly to the top to keep out as much air as possible. I recently opened a bottle from last year that was in the freezer. Still crystal clear. I keep that opened bottle in the fridge when not in use. Do what you're most comfortable with, by all means. Just offering an option, and this is my experience.

The nic I get is also Chemnovatic, from Vaperstek, here in the US.

Your opinion is very useful and much appreciated, since this is my first time to buy such quantity and don't have experience with storing high concentration nic base for a long time, did not try the freezer before, so any input on the subjects helps me a lot.

It looks from what you are saying that, once you defreeze it, you do not freeze it again and just store it in the fridge?

Did you try and vape that bottle from last year? does it hit the same or did the nic get weaker?

Thank you.

The nic is fine, the strength didn't change (i have a test kit). I don't re-freeze. I consider it my "working bottle". and just leave it in the fridge. It lasts a couple months or so, depending on how much I happen to be mixing. I mix for sometimes 3 people.

A kit that tests nic strength? interesting, you have a link for that?
