I just used it for the first time. Made a basic blueberry/strawberry yogurt max VG mix.

Is it just me, or does this crap taste EXACTLY like sour milk? I understand that yogurt is a cultured milk product, but SOUR milk?

Before I waste my time and ingredients, how does CAP Greek yogurt compare to the FA sour milk/yogurt wannabe? I have the CAP, but haven't tried it yet, either.

If you want it, I have 25ml of strawberry/blueberry yogurt max VG at 15mg, and 9.5ml FA Yogurt for free. Just pay shipping ($3) via PayPal F&F.

I've only tried the cap yogurts and neither more than once or twice. Even the Greek doesn't strike me as particularly sour. I guess I have more experimenting to do, but I haven't been really taken with the yogurts.

I LOVE the CAP NY Cheesecake, so I figured yogurts wouldn't be too bad. I'll try the CAP Greek Yogurt. If I don't like it, I'll add it to the box for whoever wants the other stuff.

Chef before you bin the mix you made leave it a week I find fa yogurt tastes like off milk for first few days.after a week tastes like a nice creamy yogurt.but after two weeks turns into a bland cream type flavour so really its best after being left for a week.

Okay, I'll let it steep. But, it seems to me that the flavor is what it is. Melding won't change that, will it? I put it through 3 cycles in the ultrasonic cleaner already.

Just give it a week in a dark place then try it don't think you will be disappointed I thought the same thing as you when I first tried it but love it now I just make it 30ml at a time so I use it before it gets 2 weeks old 1 or 2% Bavarian cream is a nice addition to it.

I wonder if you received the new reformulated version or not ... it isn't apparent from the listing on ECX which one it is.

The one I have is the reformulated one I got it from flavour art uk and it says on the website reformulated.

That's a question of diketones, isn't it? The older one vs. the reformulated? That's a good question to ask ECX.

And while I'm thinking up questions, do you (does one, I mean) say dy-kee-tones or dykahtones?

All along, I've been pronouncing the word "diacetyl" like this: diASitul. But other people (I just learned) apparently say: diasEETle. I also say acetyl propionyl like this: aSEEtle propinall. Anybody know the correct pronunciations for these words?

Yes for the most part, that was the motivation behind the reformulations. However, as a result there is also a flavor difference. I had/have both versions of FA Condensed Milk ( having purchased the first one from ECX not knowing it was from the food line ) and I actually prefer the reformulated version. I don't know if this would hold true of the Yogurt flavoring as well but there would be a difference between the two of course.

I should mention that FA states that their reformulated Yogurt does contain a small amount of Acetoin so it's not completely diketone free. I believe it is pronounced "dy-kee-tones" and I think you are correct on the other (AP) as well. :)

Most of the Yogurts are like sour milk, some worse, some not so bad.
CAP Creamy Yogurt is the least obnoxious IMO, but I've not tried FA.
Also have FW, which I haven't tested yet.
But you typically need to add either several other sweet type flavors, or use some sweetener.

But the Yogurts really don't have that Sour Twang that the real stuff has.
I've tried them with some Cheesecakes trying to get that effect too, no joy.
Need something like TFA Sweet & Tart Candy or FA Citrus Mix, for the sour/tart notes only.
Problem is, you also get the unwanted Citrus flavor too.
Might work for a Citrus Yogurt tho.

I guess I've been saying di-AS-itull wrong for a long time then :/ *sigh* I should've known better than to copy Farsalinos' pronunciation. He may be a smartie but he's a non-native English speaker. Good thing nobody was around to hear me...lol

Rhubarb flavor! Sounds exciting. Going on my list. My grandmother used to make rhubarb pie from the stuff in her garden. Is "classicool" a brand name?

I only have the diketone free version of FA Yogurt so I'm not sure if it's entirely the same but mine is VERY strong. I don't hate it but prefer TFA Greek Yogurt much better. But you have to like Greek Yogurt which has a distinct flavor compared to standard yogurt. You also have to be careful with percentages of yogurt with any brand as it can turn rancid tasting very easily.
