Yuck!!! I had something like that, back in the fall... After it persecuted me for about 5 wks, I finally went to the doc and got some antibiotics. He was so mad... "You've had a fever for 5 wks and just now coming in????" :D

Andria
I have swallowed more pills from the doctor in the past 5 days than a hippie following a Grateful Dead tour!

I do love my Red Sox!

I just read a funny story about them -- Stephen King is a huge BoSox fan, and he had planned to have on his tombstone "Not in my lifetime. Not in yours, either." But after the BoSox won the 2004 series... he had to think up a new epitaph. :D

I've been by his house, it's like his books. Dark and spooky lol. I'm going to have to read another one of his books, I've been looking for a new read.
That white David Austin rose I had? This pic is from 2008, just before the move that killed it... I was heartbroken...

He's one of my top 3 favorite authors... (along with John Irving and James Lee Burke.. though I should probably make that a Top 5 so I can include Robert B. Parker and Dean Koontz... but hell, I gotta put Michael Connelly in there somewhere!). Read the Dark Tower series... it's his Magnum Opus, and a great many of his other books tie in to it, including the 2 he did with Peter Straub (Talisman and Black House).

I looked up his house on google maps.... gorgeous!

You're the second or third person to suggest the tower series to me, I'm going to definitely check them out.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Funny I had the honor of taking care of at the time the oldest cubs fan. This was 20+ years ago.
A few of the cubs came up and visited with him while I was there and got to meet them in passing. No big deal they were pretty cool and visiting a 100+ year old WW1 vet.

No, that IS a big deal! Too cool! Like Ryne Sandberg/ Ron Cey days cubs?? 1983ish?

Had this dream I was on Lake Wallenpaupack on a beautiful dragon boat with my shirt off eating a taco that was dripping all over my nipples and I had to wash it off with margaritas while suffering from food poisoning, but it wasn't food poisoning, it was a Grateful Dead concert where a white David Austin rose was being placed on a pile of laundry by Albert Einstein in Red Sox who offered me a cup of coffee.

I'm senile enough but you guys are driving me fucking nuts trying to catch up.

About every 5 yrs or so, my son and I re-read it... we read it together the first time, and it's always fun, discussing it as we go along. My son is my favorite Book Club! :D

Andria

ETA: I should point out -- the first of the series, The Gunslinger, is a little bit dry... it doesn't seem to go anywhere... but it's also the shortest, and fairly quick to get thru; the 2nd one, The Drawing of the Three, is probably twice as long, but it brings in the other major characters, and the storyline really starts to move along. By the end of that one, you'll be hooked, BUT GOOD! :D

Sosa era, they were club office and a player, not a well known one but still.
I am not a baseball fan so it was meh to me, the 1900s were an entirely different type of baseball.
Had a drink with Mike Ditka at the one bar I frequented. That was pretty cool.
Have gad some interesting run ins with some well known people, most were chill and friendly others not so much.

All I can think about is, I hope she doesn't get hit by a train. I swear, honey, that's all I can think about.

If people knew how fucking gross rail beds and rails were they would not go near them.
If just the dirt from the beds can eat the fuck out of a pair of boots in a matter of months... what hops does that gal have sitting nearly nekkid assed on the rails have...

And this folks is why patient zero is always the stupids.

I sure as hell don't.
but rails and beds have stupid high fecal contamination, other caustic, bio, and rad stuff also.

I try not too live within 2 miles of a mainline.
