Sony has told liionwholesale.com they don't want the batteries being sold. Apparently Sony had trickled them out but it's going to end.

Seeing how Jon doesn't buy directly from Sony I'm calling bullshit until he comes on and says it.

This is not true, maybe due to a misunderstanding/miscommunication. We are planning to stop selling Sony once we run through our current inventory, that part is true, at the very least temporarily. Sony has asked us to stop selling them in this format. We are considering some other options to be able to sell them in the future but we'll have to see.

However, to my knowledge Sony is not discontinuing them.

Rewrap them and label them LTCs.
Fuck sony.

Liability issues with the upcoming legislation? Why not sell batteries for any legal use? Not sure what Sony's motivation would be for NOT selling batteries...

I never have understood Sony's problem with this. They either want to sell batteries or they don't. Ah, well, the LG HD2C's are coming available, and those have similar specs. I guess I'll just have to change my religion.

I don't know either but, looking forward to those LG's.

Fuck Sony. Keep right on selling them Jon, as-is. What are they going to do about it? Not a damn thing, except perhaps refuse to sell them to you directly... in which case you can either source them elsewhere or drop them altogether; because frankly LG is making better cells these days anyway.

If Sony is willing to produce them, willing to state their specifications, then those cells will live up to those specifications. What right do they have to tell us what we are and are not allowed to use them for? As long as we use them within their designed limitations they have to perform as advertised regardless of the application.

It's like Chevron saying they don't want their gasoline used in motorcycles because the rider might crash and potentially immolate themselves, because a ton of squids off themselves on bikes every year.

Or like Remington stating that their ammunition is for target practice only.

Asinine scardy-bitch horse-shit.

To hell with Sony anyway imo. Most all of their products are far overpriced for what they are and at the end of the day they spend more on R&D than on producing quality products.

Frankly the last 6 vtc5's that I bought were the first Sony product I've bought in nearly a decade. The way things are going, they might be the last Sony products that I buy in my lifetime.

Sony still top grade cells for me....
I tried the hbs for the whole true 30amp business but i got better performance out of my vtc4s....
Still the best cells imo, especially if youre a mech kinda vaper that likes to dive down on the ohms.
So this is bad news, for me.

Concur. Oh, I agree with @Droogbc if that's the way they want to be, fuck 'em. And I'm looking forward to trying some of the LG HD2Cs. But I am a mekkie too, and I'm going to miss my VTC4s.

I would laugh at "he knows me" too but yes, just a bit more than you know me. And you don't. This is what he said. Besides where is everyone like these battery sites getting them from if Sony is being pricks about the battety. Saying they've not been made for years then i buy 8 pairs for 14 dollars per pair. They know there's a market. LG took it over. HB6 batteries are 1500mAh. Well that's worry free purchasing a new 30a cell and VTC4s aren't the only 30a cell sny longer. I think Sony should make a VTC6 with 2500mAh and 30a minimum just for us vapers. They'd be so well doing well business wise financially...dumb Sony.

Along with several others, I have not been impressed with the HD2C at 30-40A. This is in spite of Mooch's graphs which show performance on par, or better than both versions of the HB4 at that current draw. Hoping Jon can reveal further CBA insight into how the HD2C truly performs...

I look at it this way.
Sony has no plausible deniability if on the news one day... 'Sony Lithium Battery Disfigures Vaper".
Flat tops cause fires. Not all, but they do.
Tools - dyson vacs, mowers. blowers, cell phones, laptops, and well engineered hover boards do not cause fires.
A better analogy using cars, is selling cars with no brakes, or seat belts, or air bags.
Protection circuits help prevent or minimize accidents. This is a consumer cell.
Sony cannot protect itself from headline, perhaps even litigation, even if battery was a re-wrapped POS masquerading as a Sony.
They can, if they say their unprotected batteries have never been sold for consumer use and produce the paperwork saying so.
So by putting pressure on suppliers and changing the battery designations, they just have to wait for the supply to dry up of older cells. "We never sold these batteries for consumer use, and made every effort to prevent this".
The option for 'Jion' et al to continue selling Sony batteries is do what orbtronics did - protect the cells with their own circuit and relabel them. This due diligence may keep a supplier in good grace w/ Sony.
I would do the same thing. They really do not need the exposure or the single cell sales. Plus, you have no idea what pressures the insurance companies/lawyers are putting on them. Would you cut the seat belts and air bags out of your car since they are inconvenient restraints and pay the higher insurance rates? I doubt it.
JMHO.
