Newbie here. uploadfromtaptalk1410387721307.jpgGot all of my flavors on Monday evening. Made a batch of TFA French Toast and a batch of Marshmallow. 40/60 blend with about 10% flavoring in each. They both tasted like nothing. Steeped them. Microwaved for 9 sec with cap off. Water bathed them. Left them sit in a drawer for 2 days. Still taste nothing like what I was expecting. Ive even added some sweetener. Any advice? I am so looking forward to making great juice for my friends and myself.

you may be muting your flavors, also a natural steep has always worked better for me. my DIY liquids usually dont take more than 3 or 4 days to fully steep anyway. i use a standard 5% rule for capella and TFA flavors and its treating me well. i use glass bottles so when i mix i just hold it in my hand until the liquid is warm and shake it up real nice to make sure everything is mixed, then natural steeping takes care of the rest

random noob recipe:
banana split capella 5%
pie crust TFA 2%

vaping now, such flavor :D

Depending on my effed up my shoulders are acting I will roll the glass bottle between my hands.
I know mandycat will do a spanking method also.

Try a few as single flavors and keep adding a drop more of flavor until it tastes good to you. Then figure out what the % is. Everyone is different. Get to know each flavor. Some mellow and fade a bit with time, while others grow stronger. It's a lot of trial and error but it's all fun! :)

TFA is all over the board mix percentage wise.

TFA Coconut Extra made me cry when I mixed it at 10% !
( Now I use that as the concentrate !! )
TFA Blueberry Wild I've tried as high as 16% before it started to change for the worse.
( I use it a around 10% now. )

Some flavors I have to just accept it aint gonna be like the flavor I get when I eat.
Marshmallow is one of those flavors for me,,,,
Now I use it in mixes, but it aint for "Marshmallow outta the bag" flavor... its more of body and slight sweetness it can add.

FA Flavors I start @ 1% and rarely go over 3%... pretty consistant.
TFA is just all over the place for me.

Good Luck on your journey !

I try every new TFA flavor at 5%. There's only ONE that I use at 10%. In my experience, once you go over a TFA flavor's threshold, it goodbye flavor, and hello weirdness. It's oversaturated at that point. I'd dial it back, before you add more. Cut your current batch in half with more VG/PG and see what happens.

I got three you can try at 5% and the weirdness is out the door into wretchedness. at 10% you will be calling a hazmat crew and NEVER getting the stink out of glass.

Caramel Cappuccino, perhaps? Lychee? Rose Candy? I was saying 5% to try. I'll know if it needs lowering. ;-)

Oh their caramel cap is good but goes all sorts of wonky in higher %.
No the three I am talking about is
Kona coffee
Double chocolate clear
Coffee clear.

I do not know what essence of demon they squeezed these foul offerings from but beware 1 drop per 30 ml is way more than enough to illicit a demonic gagging from the end user.

Yeah, I haven't used kona in ages. Forgot about that. I used double chocolate clear at 3%/in one recipe - for a chocolate liqueur flavor.

Are there any single flavors that someone could recommend an exact recipe for me? Just so I can see what to expect. The nicquid juices are so tasty. Biscotti is my favorite. I like the really sweet and sugary baked goods vape. I have a whole slew of flavors. I was also considering trying the kahlua and cream. I just want tasty cheap juice at this point! Lol...

I do Blueberry Extra by itself at 6%. No steeping needed. It's one of the only standalone flavors I vape. Banana Nut Bread too, at 7%.

I used to make a Dragon fruit/BNB/Marshmallow mix. Sounds weird, but good.

There's a lot you can do with that list. Just try stuff as you go along. Think of what flavors might go together, but also SMELL them to make sure you know exactly what you're dealing with. TFA flavors have a tendency not to taste like you'd imagine they do.

Also, watch out for that TFA honey! Stinks!!! Doesn't taste bad at all, but P.U.!

Honey is very strong, HeadInClouds recommends using it at 10% to dilute into another liquid, then mixing with that. I've been using Marshmallow at 2% in my flavors, just as an addin. One way to get an idea of how the flavors work is to drip a drop onto your tongue. Some people will also take the tops off all the flavors they want to use, and then smell them all together to get an idea of the end-product.

Do you have a program yet which you can use to record your recipes and take notes?

Nooooo - I do that for FlavourArt Honey. I couldn't use TFA Honey in any form.

OP, Gummy Candy anywhere from 5-10% is one you should be able to taste, and most people agree it's a pretty accurate flavor. I see you got pomegranate. If you like Gummy Candy by itself, try adding some of that for a pom-gummy.

That's right, I didn't think about the fact that you normally stick with FA flavors. Apologies to the OP.

@Bart As you can tell everybody is going to have a different opinion. It will be up to you to decide on the mix % of your next batch, from the input you have on this thread. Reading your post and what you mixed TFA at, you said you taste neutral (nothing) In my experience if i over do a batch with flavor, (as in using too much) I will not get a neutral flavor or nothing taste, I will get a over power taste, a floral taste, since you didn't get that, I would go to 15%. The % are going to be a lot lower with FA, but with TFA my experience with standalone flavor that are not extra or ripe, TFA 15%. If I mix say Peach from TFA at 6% it's a nuetral nothing flavor. 10% little flavor etc. This only applies to TFA, results may vary :) 3 day steep

I haven't tried any TFA but with FA I have had some issues tasting single flavors however if I mix them in a recipe they come out at lower percentages.

TFA Kalua & Cream.....

Very sweet.... I use @ 3% or less in recipes, (Mostly less !), tried to use it stand alone @5-6% but it was a coil clogger.
A light touch in with RY4 Double and a Smidge of AP.....Great Vape, and it weighs in less than 10% total flavorings.

TFA Blue berry Extra......
6-10% depending on what your expecting... certainly not a HEAVY flavor.

Just some comments.... MMV

Hola mi amigos! Just figured I would touch base...

My first three batches were 50PG/50VG/12mg:
 • 15% Marshmallow (TFA) + 5% Sweetener (TFA)
 • 15% French Toast (TFA) + 5% Sweetener (TFA)
 • 15% Vanilla Cupcake (TFA) + 3% Sweetener (TFA)
Almost a week later in a dark drawer and they still have very muted flavor to me (compared to a commercial eJuice like NicQuid). Should I remove the caps to the bottles while they're in the dark drawer, "steeping"?

I've since made three additional batches with a different base of 65PG/35PG/6mg:
 • 15% Golden Pineapple (CAP) + 2% Sweetener (TFA)
 • 15% Graham Cracker, Clear (TFA)
 • 12% Banana Natural (LAN) + 2% Sweetener (TFA)
I'm curious to see if I just am more accustomed to a higher PG base that carries the flavor more.

Side Note: I REALLY want to try and replicate the NicQuid Biscotti (which is my favorite eJucie to date). I'd love to have a DIY recipe that's close to this but maybe even a little stronger of a flavor. Has anyone found one that works?

Also, I ordered some more flavors from a few diff manufacturers:
 • Cinnamon Coffee Cake (CAP)
 • Cookie (FA)
 • Double Chocolate (CAP)
 • Gingerbread (CAP)
 • Honey (FA)
 • Marshmallow (FA)
 • Passionfruit (CAP)
 • Peach (FA)
 • Pumpkin Pie Spice (CAP)
 • Sugar Cookies (CAP)
 • Tiramisu (FA)
 • Toasted Almond (CAP)
 • Torrone (FA)
 • Vanilla Classic (FA)
Any of these exceptionally good as a single mix? Also, is there a spreadsheet for these as single mix percentages (like the one provided for TFA). Thnx all!!! #cheers #clouds

So why are you stuck on just single flavor juices? Mix a fruit with some cream or a bakery flavor, they will both come out stronger.

It's not that I'm stuck at all... I want to vape as many singles as possible so that I can pair them by taste and not names (guesswork). I also want to get more comfortable with the process before I start mixing a lot and wasting this stuff. That's all.

In that case don't worry about achieving the flavor density of commercial juices. I do the same thing when I get new flavorings.

Here is a spreadsheet I reference for single flavor percentages. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr..._hQ6Fu8HdEwwR2dLRUJlVjlabEN1NG1ucktuUVE&gid=0 Different companies list across the top.

Of that list, FA Tiramisu would be the one! It'll give you strong flavor at 3%. 5% might be too much, just to give you an idea of the strength. If you like dark chocolate and espresso, you'll like it standalone.

Try using 1% or less Sweetener, as I find that it mutes flavors somewhat.

And Marshmallow doesn't really have much flavor to begin with IMO.

French Toast needs a dab of Maple Syrup, lol.

Vanilla Cupcake could use a bit of Cinnamon Danish...

BTW I really doubt any commercial e-juices are "single flavors".

2 flavors are most always better than 1, get creative, lol.

Yeah... I was disappointed with the marshmallow. I hope I can find another manufacturer who has a more potent version.

Good tip on the sweetener. Thanks!

Noted on the others. Thanks!!

Oh I bet theyre using many. I just was referring to the volume of flavor, not the tastes themselves, if that makes sense.

Just read somewherw that you should always shake the flavor vials vigorously before dispensing any... I dont know why I didnt think to do that but it totally makes sense... I hope thats my issue... bahhh... #facepalm
