We're starting to see more form deviation in atomizers. 25mm, 28mm, and even 30mm RDA's with as many as 8 post holes are out there. Tanks are getting fatter, too. As these become more popular, it only makes sense that we'll start seeing bigger, higher-power mods, as well. If you give people device combos that can make use of more power/space, then people will find a way to coax an enjoyable vape out of it. Some of yall need to think outside of the 22mm barrel.
Remember, power needs are relative to how that power is harnessed and distributed. 300w can be a lot, a little, or just enough, depending on what you're putting it to. It's not that crazy! People have built parallel boxes that can fire up to 400w before and used it. This isn't even somethin' kinda new.
The highest I've gone thus far is ~175w with a series mech. The vape was great. Yes, there are 22mm RDAs that can be set up to handle that just fine. Will vape again and probably even carry around with me. But that's approaching the limits of what two 3.7v 18650's can safely output. That's really the only reason I don't go higher.
I'm looking into bigger RDA's and series/parallel boxes to take things even further, though typically I keep things between 80w and 160w. I really like the vapes I find myself setting up across that range and would like to see what I could do with a potential 350w at my disposal. Definitely not as an ADV, though. This is for science.
Understand that I'm vaping at 80w as I type this and loving it! That's not the point.
The thing to understand about super-high-power is that vaping is a hobby. It's not a matter of whether or not anyone needs it lol. I don't see what's so unthinkable about a 300w mod. It's doable. The only issue I see is how it may be presented. This not a toy for your average vaper, obviously.
Don't underestimate people. It only seems like a ridiculous idea until someone finds a way to harness its potential in a practical manner. Give it 6 months to a year and I bet people will be giving higher wattage a serious look. I think there are plenty who want that and want it done right. Think about all of the shit we use now that we've scoffed at before.
I've climbed the power ladder and witnessed the wattage wars. The argument is tired. We all know its just some cycle-of-life shit at this point. How many times can we all have this discussion over the years? I dunno, nothing surprises me anymore.
Honestly, a triple-series, prism-shaped mech mod wouldn't have to be much bigger than the NC and can safely give 300w with 30A cells. But then, at 300w, does size really matter? You're not taking that out in public, anyway. People will bump into walls. You will cause car accidents. Might as well go with four in a series-parallel configuration, regulate it, and stay the fuck at home or in the shop with it.
Personally, I would try one. Not anything coming out anytime soon, though. I'll wait till the tech is more refined... ...and for other people to crash-test them.
I'd still like to see a hookah-style remote-triggered DC converter mod. Doesn't have to look like a hookah... ...you just use it like one. Something with a huge tank and feed system that you can plug in, set on the table, and vape the fuck out of on the couch, out on the cabana, at an open-air bar...
...hey, why not?
