Hello everyone. First I would like to thank all here that have contributed recipes and advice in this forum. You guys have given a great wealth of information that I have taken and made my vaping experience better.

So I just dived into diy a couple weeks ago. And I seem to have a problem with cap v1 vanilla custard making my stomach upset. The taste is fine but something about the flavoring seems to leave my stomach unsettled.

My first recipe was a grants vanilla custard clone
15 % v1 vanilla custard (cap)
2 % ddd (tfa)

I let it steep for about a week and the flavor was great. Just after vaping it for a bit my stomach begin to hurt. So obviously I looked in the forums and noticed some people needed to lower their percentages to get the right taste and flavor. So I lowered it to 10 percent to try again. That is steeping now.

In the meantime I made oreos vanilla custard. It is a well known recipe that I'm not going to repeat here because I'm on mobile. That has 12 % v1 vanilla custard caps.

I will say that oreos recipe is perfect. It is what I am looking for an all day vape. Just wondering has anyone had a bad experience such as stomach problems with caps vanilla custard.

I will list my supplies here so you know what I'm working with.

Pg and vg from bull city vapor
Nicotine 100mg/ml from nude nicotine 50/50 pg vg
Flavorings all from tfa,fw, caps, and holy vanilla from diy

I blend a 50/50 pg/vg at 3mg nic.

I will also say that my adv is nicotickets dessert lines. Cls, frenilla, creme brulee, absolute creme brulee, and grandmas cinnamon danish. I believe those liquids are all 50/50 pg/vg.

I just switched to the griffin rta and it drinks juice. So if I want to continue vaping as much as I do and with the griffin the only way I can is to make my own juice.

I am pretty satisfied and confident that with some of the recipes I will be able too. I already love a couple. But having a little bit of a set back with my beloved custards right now. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance for the help.

Try the V2 - the original V1 has the nasty stuff in it (good tasting to many though) V2 is very similar but you may do better with it!

I will make an order to do that. But from what I gather v1 is where it's at. Especially from the custard lovers here.

I'll try v2. But I'm really not concerned about the nasties in v2. Thanks though!

It's not because of the nasties, but because of your stomach issues that I recommended it. I've heard that before (and I forget who has that problem), so it's worth a try I would think.

Just another thought. Since you're using a Griffin and vaping much more (I think that's what you said) it's possible it's too much nicotine? What tank were you using before?

I was using a kangertech subtank.

And as we spoke I mixed only pg/vg no taste so it's not that.

I also mixed 3ml of 10 percent v1 caps and 50/50 pg/vg with no nic. It doesn't seem to bother me as bad. It could be the nic.

But I vape 3mg nic from nicoticket all day. I'm talking like 10 to 15 mls a day. And have been doing that with the griffin for at least a month.

Hence the decision to make my own juice. Cost will be outrageous if I keep that up.

I personallu dont like v2... v1 is where its at.
I had stomach issues when i vaped too much pg, specifically it gave me mud butt. I keep it above 80vg now and never had problems since.

I find it a strange flavor. I went through a phase (or two) of loving it and ordered a 4 ounce bottle. A month or so later I couldn't stand the smell LOL Luckily I have a friend that loves it, so I make stuff for her with my big bottle:p

So I just smelled my nicotine and it has a pretty weird smell to it. Not strong but it something with a hint of off smell. Can't really put my finger on it.

I actually ordered 2 types of nic. Nude nicotine and vaporstek.

The vaporstek doesn't have this smell to it. But it has been in the freezer. So who knows

And as I am sitting here vaping the no nic juice I made. I don't get the stomach issue so it is possibly the nic.

It's crazy how finicky this whole process is.

I live in South florida and it's been 90 here. Humid as hell. So maybe leavin the nic out killed it.

I've made a 1ml tester with pg vg and nic we will see.

Oxidizing nic shouldn't affect your stomach, though - but it will affect taste. My bet is either on the custard or the high PG as suggested above.

Mud butt haha. I like your style. It's all theories. I also considered being sensitive to pg. But I have been vaping it since day one 50/50 and never had problems.

Also considered because vaping so much more juice with the new griffin that is brought this pg sensitivity up. Just from the sheer fact I consume more mls per day.

I don't really know. I will take the suggestions and try that's all I can do.

Yup, that's a possibility. 50/50 is fine when you're not vaping so much, but you're not only vaping more but getting a much bigger overall flavor hit from the Griffin! Also I would find 50/50 incredibly harsh in a Griffin - I vape my 3mg on that in 80VG!

I definitely feel dehydration taking its toll (from the PG and to a lesser extent, VG) when I vape a lot. Sometimes that can make my stomach hurt. Not sure why, but I've experienced it.

I am guessing either the nic or the diketones as Amanda said are probably your issue, though.

Hey Ron. Yeah after hearing you mention this flavor I did some research and will be ordering this flavor.

I thought i'd be saving money switching to diy. I was wrong for now my initial investment has been kinda heavy. But I can make about 880 ml's of juice and next time around just order pg vg and make that much more. So its defintetly gonna be savings.

I have vaped V1 and V2 for months with no stomach issues. Are you sure you are not getting upset from the nicotine. I have experienced this before, but it was due to strong nic.

There is a major difference to me in flavor of V1 and V2. V1 just goes so much better with the creamy bases.

The CAP v2 custard just SCREAMS "artificial flavor!".... I started using TFA Vanilla Swirl instead; it's also diketone-free, and tastes a whole lot better. If it seems too vanilla and not enough custard, add a little TFA DX Bavarian Cream.

I just dont see how the nic could be affecting me at 3mg. I dont know if I can go any lower. I mean I know I can but isn't it pretty negligible at this point?

I doubt it's the nic if you're just at 3mg.

I hope you find out what is upsetting your stomach. I have never experienced this but I have had issues with some juices causing me bad heartburn...the kind that really burns up into your esophagus and mouth. I don't know why but for some reason these juices liked to make my atty leak and spit-back. I upped the VG and I was good to go . Once I narrowed it down to what the cause was I stopped getting it.

Yeah I'm going to go home and mix a batch at 80 vg 20 pg see if it gets better.

TFA also makes a Vanilla Custard, pretty good but can't compare with CAP VCv1.
But it's better than CAP v2, YUK...
It may not be the strength of the NIC, but maybe the brand, or it's settled out and needs a good shaking.
I'd break out the VT:luck:.

I was mixing at 50/50 and upped the vg to 70%, but since you are already there then that may not be the issue but you never know. You won't unless you test the theory right?

So I've mixed a batch at 80 vg and 20 pg with 10 percent caps vc.

While the mix is easier on the throat the stomach problem still exists. Also I mixed with vapors tek nicotine.

I'm beginning to believe it's simply the caps.

Wonder if after a steep it may mellow out. Cause now I'm just mixing and directly vaping.

10% CAP VC will take a week at least, but some even go for a month.
Weather it will make any difference IDK.
