Someone, maybe a few of us, were talking about houses, moving, real estate headaches, all the stress...was it SirVt and LW? Sorry I forget who, but man that's true. Moving and house hunting sucks, stress Stress STRESS. We went through long-story hell for a few months. Here's just a tidbit of what I learned:
Many big apartment complexes do not manage their own property, and shelter themselves by hiring "property management companies" to squeeze every last drop of blood out of tenants for any and every reason - investigate that company before you move in. High turn-over with apartment managers is a big problem, and that is all part of the scam, to insulate the property owners from the bullshit. There are laws here against landlords keeping security deposits for things like routine wear and tear on carpets and repainting when it is not needed.
Yet they do it all the time, they will take it right up to court and often back off only then - because we also have laws that say if they try to squeeze you, you can squeeze back for 10 times what they try to scam you for. Many people don't fight it though, all part of the scam, it's a numbers game and the lawyers know it. They get away with whatever they can get away with. Know your rights.
The fucking greed. And these little shit property managers they hire, well I don't blame them in a way, they get used. The blame goes deeper. But they are the ones you have to deal with. A new douchebag every few months to do nothing but pass the buck.

Awwww poor baby in her cone of shame. My cat hated that thing! When we first got her fixed, they forgot to put it on her, so after she'd been home for a few days, she had licked her incision almost open, and it was infected; you could just tell she wasn't feeling well -- called them and told them, they had us bring her back and they fixed her up with fresh stitches, antibiotics, AND a cone -- gratis, since they fucked up by not giving her the cone to start with! Great folks! (planned pethood!) She kept bumping into stuff for a week till we finally were able to take it off her.

IKR?!?!?! Heh. But at least we've never been subjected again to weeks of OWWWWWWWW... MroOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW... OwwwwwwWWWW... I swear that's what the "heat" wailings sounded like. I told my husband it was probably like a combo of extreme horny and menstrual cramps from hell! But even so... she's so cute, some kitties from her would have been adorable. Oh well.
