Moonshot Help Please

This must be the most frustrating rta there is. I cant seem to make it stop leaking! The first fill after building doesn't leak at all.

But the second fill makes it leak like a faucet! I watched youtube reviews and build techniques with this tank and it still leaks like mad.

Am I doing something wrong? Does your Moonshot leak as well? I'm about to give up on this rta. Seems like a complete waste of money.

There is a o ring that seals the deck make sure its still there.. Its not on the deck but the cavity. Where the deck seats.

If I leave the cap off too long after I refill, it leaks. Other than that I don't have any leaks and I build mine different since the dang sleeve is so tight in the base i have to use a vice to remove it. I build and wick with it all together, it takes forever but it works when I'm on the road.

I had the exact same problem. What you need to do is pack the wicks against the juice holes. Watch Mike vapes review on how he does the wicking and wick just like that, thereafter use a needle and pack the cotton against the juice flow. Then look from the top and make sure there isn't any gaps.

Ive been doing this and it still leaks using a 50/50 juice. I even tried putting balled up cotton behind the wick arms to keep them in place so the juice wont flood the deck yet it still does.

This atty is absolute cr@p. They should've included a ring with smaller juice flow holes or simply put some sort of juice flow control there in the first place... Ive never been more frustrated with an rta.

Ive checked that and all o rings are in their proper place. One thing I did notice though is that there is no spare o ring for the one that sits between the chimney and the juice flow ring.

Will it be possible for you to try a 70/30?

And this leak, does it only happen when you fill it and then screw the cap?

Is it a continous leak (meaning after wiping it's still flowing until tank is empty)?

What ID is your coil?

Yes, it only leaks on my second fill after screwing the cap back on. Leaks like a faucet out the air flow.

I just gave this tank a last chance, just finished working on it. I used a 26g ss wire at 3.5mm. Wicked it really tight and screwed the deck and the ring back on the base. Poked the cotton out the holes using elbow tweezers to make sure the cotton sticks out the holes a little.

So far, no leaks. Yet. On my 3rd tank of juice at the moment and still testing if it'll be pocket-worthy. Hoping this'll renew my faith in it.

Sigelei, if you're listening in... juice flow control, man... or give us an option to buy a juice flow ring with smaller holes!

EDIT: 26g ss wire @ 3.5mm. 8 wraps, spaced build. And A LOT of cotton.

Yeah the problem that's happening here is that when you're refilling, the wicks are very saturated and then when the tank is filled and you close the suction causes more juice to go onto the wicks and causes it to leak. One trick you could try that works for me is that before refilling, keep on taking pulls until the wick is dry (you'll know this because of the lack of taste) and then fill and start pulling away to get everything working smoothly.

Thanks for helping out, Ohmz! Appreciate it a lot. Saved my Moonshot from being a fancy paperweight!

This tank is really nice when it's working properly, the flavor I get of it is crazy. I really love mine but I do see much more room for improvement. I feel the build deck to be constructed really stupid since its not press fitted. I also hated that leaking problem. Always on my second refill it leaked like faucet. But after watching wicking videos and following those steps I listed, it seems to work fine, so far no leaks.

Use slightly more cotton, and always close the airflow when refilling. That works for me

I have a love hate relationship with this tank. It's one if those tanks that is GREAT with stainless steel (I did 26/30 316L clapton, 2.5mm Id, 6 wrap) great performance and flavor. But I think I don't like anything else about this thing. Pain to build on, pain to wick right, just a pain overall. But like the goblin mini before it, it's saved by its great flavor..

The leaking seems to be a problem with the glass set the wrong way. Tried turning it upside down and it resolved the leaking.

Might be a one off tho...

I wouldn't use a 50/50 in the moonshot, or any newer rta's, they're all designed for higher vg juices. If you vape the tank totally dry it shouldn't leak on you when you refill it. It can be a little annoying, but vaping it until the wicks are dry has kept it from leaking on me

I've managed to stop the leaking on this tank by poking the wicks thru the juice flow holes.

It's a bit too late though since I've long replaced this atty with a Moradin and the Serpent Mini.

Yeah, I have to say that the Moradin is a beast when it comes to flavor. Hands down. Sadly, they should've made it so that it can be taken apart completely and the glass can be replace. Perhaps a v2 is in the works.

Meanwhile, I'm really loving my new Cleito and the Serpent Mini. Awesome flavor in both these rtas

1st build - too big of a coil had shorts and leaking (tried using alien clapton 3mm wrapped 5x)
2nd build coils were fine but leaking mess everywhere (triple Kanthal 28Gauge 3mm 6x)
3rd build tried to adjust wicking to fix the leaking based on the guide written by the tartan spartan (google "thetartanspartan moonshot") and saw my coiling was spot on but I wasn't trimming my wick und stuffing it back under right. I tried that and everything was was going good until the real test.....when I tried to top off..it literally dumped juice everywhere.

I almost gave up....very glad I didn't and I finally reached nirvana with this RTA. It has become my everyday in front of my griffin and gemini.

4th build stayed with the Kanthal (use whatever works for you) and follow the guide above but there is one absolutely critical thing that you MUST do to prevent leaks. You must use your tweezers and pull just a little poke of cotten out of all 4 juice the juice holes as mentioned by Hailestorm above. You want the cotton sitting in the juice holes with a tad poked out and not flush against the inside of the chamber. That was all it was the whole time. I have done this on several builds and haven't lost a drop. I also top off frequently.

Glad I didn't give up. This tank absolutely rocks! I run it on a pico at 60w. .29ohms dual coil.

Let me know if you have questions.

Thank you so much. This damn beast stopped leaking at last.

I bought mine recently in the great TPD sale for £3.99 a bargain . yes it's fiddly to build on but have found that you have to pack the wick down really well to get it to not leak I also agree that the flavour you get from it is awesome persevere with it and you'll have great experience with it
