Then they definitely should have given you antibiotics for afterward, and yes, something strong for the pain, because even when the abscessed nerve is outta there, the abscess is an infection, which causes pain. The infection can even go into the bone, if it's bad enough. Infection in the bone takes a LONG time to heal, and can lead to sepsis (blood poisoning). (if you start running a fever, GET TO THE ER IMMEDIATELY IF NOT SOONER!)

If'n ya lived here I know a dentist that'll go to town prescribing narcotics just for yankin' out a tooth!!!! He also includes a free x-ray so that way he knows what to expect. He's a damn good dentist, that is why I chose him. AND he gives you extra Nummy stuff so that way you don't feel a damn thing thang when he is pulling your face off... *ahem* ...your tooth out!


I'm sorry your dentist sucks out loud. I hope your pain goes away but if it doesn't you might need to visit him again to see what the cause is.

His prob is the stupid asshole dentist jerk didn't prescribe him with the appropriate meds after an extraction! Plenty of people need the pain meds and antibiotics afterwards but some dentists don't prescribe them. IMHO they should Prescribe at least Tylenol 3!!

I had a tooth pulled 12 years ago and they told me not to smoke. A friend told me to get a gauge pad fold it up to fit over the hole bite down on the pad and I could get a lite draw on the cig. That should work for you.
