The thing to know, if you're going to start building coils, is that wrapping a piece of wire around a drillbit is so simple any creature with thumbs could do it. Getting it mounted on the head, a tiny bit more challenging, depending on the style of head, thru-the-posts or around-the-screws -- I actually find thru-the-posts a little harder, because I'm uncoordinated and it's very hard for me to get 2 wires thru 2 posts at the same time. But still, not terribly difficult. Where you meet the real challenge is the wicking... and the only way to learn it is to DO IT, over and over... at first you'll probably tend to use too much, so it's good to start with rayon -- rayon is how I learned how to wick and get it right. But after a while I found the taste disagreeable, and went back to cotton... and I had gotten better at it, and it worked ok, using organic cotton balls from Walgreens. When I finally got some japanese organic cotton pads, it became truly easy.
