LOL, so did I, well actually my ex was from the former Yugoslavia ( Montenegro ) tall and vampire-like with long black hair. He gave me 2 beautiful sons and a broken heart. Lets just say , once the honeymoon was over he wanted me to convert to Islam and become a babuska wearing lady.

NOPE, NOWAY..... He is a great guy, but not to be married to.... He also wanted to enjoy the "bachelor life.... Again, NOWAY, so I set him free....We are both really happy now.

When Borat was big, my sons and all his friends called my Ex "Borat"

My ex was from a family of orthodox jews, though he had left that faith. But he was just the worst control-freak, even though he was raised by control-freaks as I was... all he learned from it was how to be one. We were married for less than a year before we split, and just over a year when the divorce was final. Because I absolutely will NOT tolerate control-freaks. It was so hard for me to realize that the guy I'm married to now really loved me, because 1) he didn't try to change me, and 2) he wasn't mean to me, and 3) he didn't try to control me. But that's why we've been married for almost 29 yrs. :)

Amen to all that..... I guess I was passable to marry, but he wanted me to convert and after that I was an embarrassment to his friends wives and family functions. I guess before we were married I only went to the "girlfriend" functions.

At the wife functions I suddenly saw the actual wives and they sure were different from the girlfriends..... LOL.

He was sexist, and angry after we were a year in, close minded, and my sons would have turned out horrible if we stayed together.

My man now ( together for over 10 years?) is a good ole west virginia man. Never would have thought it, kindest, non-sexist, non-racist, non-homophobic, book reading, funny and cat loving man Ive ever known.

This is me, the tall dude in green, with the fam at the Table Mountain Star Party in 2014. I serve on the Board of Directors for the event.

The lovely I have my arm around is the missus with whom I will celebrate our 28th anniversary with at the event again this year. Our oldest is the one in the middle, graduating from college this year (double-major, Math and Education - becoming a math teacher); the boy is full-time at a local community college aiming to attend Wazzu; and the youngest on the right is graduating from high school this year.

We had our own rough patch about 12 yrs ago, but good counseling kept us together, helped us learn to communicate better -- July 20 will be 29 yrs. :)

August 6 for us.

Not the place to air the laundry, but suffice it to say we each let a lot of years of resentments and other issues build to the point where we couldn't be together. We didn't do counseling, but we used some other training we've both been through to sit and get to what was really at the matter and cause of our issues. Now, there are times when I can feel the old ways of acting and being with her start to surface, and I get what's going on, have a laugh about it and choose a different way. :)

And I laugh at her when she's snoring. Can hear it in the living room with the TV on and the bedroom door closed. She denies it, of course. ;)
