New, and obviously dumb.

I've been a smoker for 20 years. Tried out the cigarette-looking vape things and that didn't work (helping me quit smoking). So I recently ordered the Sigelei 90w starter kit and it arrived today. Now mind you, I have zero experience with the mod / tank setup. So I plugged it in and left it on the charger all day and nothing. It won't work. So I just took the battery out and realized that they shipped it with the battery installed upside down. Is it possible that it's damaged?

hi and welcome to VU! Congrats on taking the first step towards quitting.

to your question - I really don't know. They have reverse polarity protection to protect you when discharging the cell. I'm not sure how that works when charging though.
do you have an ohm meter or external charger to see if the battery has a charge?
if not see if it powers on the device.

Welcome...!

I highly doubt the battery or anything else is damaged...I have several Sigelei mods, they have reverse battery protection, it just isn't going to charge with the battery in backwards, same as a battery charger.

Try charging the mod, I'd bet it will work just fine.

By the way shaft....it wasn't a dumb question...like anything else new, it takes time to get the jest of things.

I totally agree with this statement :)

And good on you for attempting to quit!

I smoked 37 years and it is possible to stop with the right vape equipment, juice and what have you. That learning curve can be steep :)

Should be no problem. Just put it in right and charge it up. Let us know how you get on.

I agree, it should work fine after you put the battery in right and charge it.

You should be fine. Good luck with your new equipment and hope it keeps you off the stinkies.

Ok, figured out the charging side of it. Now I can't get it to work. I've got the nickel coil in, set on joule mode, and it keeps telling me dry coil when it's not. But now I can't figure out how to set the resistance and the manual is no help. This is becoming extremely frustrating. Anyone got an idea what I'm doing wrong or not doing?

You may want to check out this review. Also please watch and consult some videos from a buddy. He really has some great instructional videos dealing with various aspects of vaping, especially building coils, increasing resistance and so on.

Not meaning to seem as though I am side stepping, or not offering an answer here. Others have come before me and have laid some very excellent material out. No point to attempt re-inventing what is already so great. :)

You may also want to read up about batteries. Please do not discount yourself. We all started at one time or another and asking questions is the key to learning. No question is really a dumb question, except one once asked in boot camp about cats and gas chambers. Please do not ask about that, still kind of trying to forget it after twenty years. :)

bahhaha!!! I'm not old enough for AM radio. But, I reckon anything is possible.

Not really a matter of age, I was thinking of AM being short wave ergo apt to carry similar thought patterns. At least it wasn't microwave. We'd be all rubbery, well maybe you would be. I might get all goopy again what with the soap seemingly going everywhere. :)

usually when they do that you may have the wrong coil material seleted or the resistance not locked in.
---make sure when you lock in the resistance, the coil is at room temp.

and please, ask as many questions as it takes. that is what we are here for. But, also, watch the review videos as well. Information is power, and the more you have the more successful you will be at quitting.

To start, it would be simpler just to swap out the coil for a non tc coil if there is one in the box! Then just look at the wattage range on the side of the coil, put the wattage to the lowest one and fire her up! Checking the stats it looks as if you also have a 0.5 kanthal coil 20-50 watts - start with that one perhaps.

I am in agreement with the two posts just above mine, now. Both do seem constructive toward solving the issue/s you're facing. Please at times ignore my slight off topic missive/s. Heck, even ignore me in full if you desire. :)

Thank you all. For whatever reason, it finally set the resistance. Now I'm tweaking the settings and vaping away. You all were huge help, thank you again.
