Today, CASAA, SFATA, AEMSA, AVA and NBS are formally announcing their coalition to pursue legal and legislative strategies now that the FDA’s final deeming regulations have been released.
The coalition will continue working to determine the correct litigation strategy and legislative actions. We will be informing the vapor industry and community of next steps, deadlines, PR objectives, and grassroots efforts. Organizations interested in participating should contact coalition partners.

Please feel free to contact any of the organizations listed above for more details in the coming days.

Got this today:

Today, Tuesday, May 10th, 2016, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is officially publishing its final tobacco deeming regulations in the federal register. This means the clock begins counting down on the various compliance periods within which e-cigarette manufacturers and retailers must implement certain practices.

CASAA has been receiving a high volume of calls and emails from consumers and small businesses regarding how the FDA Deeming regulations will affect them. Fortunately, the FDA has set up a hotline to answer your questions.

Please take a moment today

To reach out to FDA at:

1.877.287.1373

(Operators are standing by to assist you with your FDA Deeming clarification needs.)

Some of the questions that CASAA has received that might be more appropriately answered by FDA include:

  • Will I still be able to DIY at home or do I need to register as a tobacco manufacturer?

  • I have an e-liquid line coming out next week. Will I be able to sell it?

  • Will kanthal wire and cotton balls now be considered tobacco products?

  • Will I have to pay to sample e-liquid even it it’s zero nicotine?

  • Can I sell my device to a friend even if I’m not a shop owner?

  • Can I give my old equipment to a friend who wants to stop smoking?

  • Is my device a tobacco product even though I use it with zero nicotine?

  • If I buy vegetable glycerine from a vape store, is it a tobacco product? If yes, what about if I buy it at a Walmart?

  • And so on…

If you have ANY question, the responsible thing to do is ASK THE FDA! Even if you know an expert vaper, you should call the FDA to confirm their analysis of the deeming regulation.

No, I did not. I posted here, before I even finished my coffee today. I had a feeling calling there would be fruitless.

well then we need CASSA to answer some of these questions as it is nobody knows much of anything.
It's frustrating. When I first read it, I got the feeling of being passed off. Seeing how it went for you, it feels that way.

i think the point of this number is to make them the FDA spend time and there money addressing the concerns of vapers.

Agreed. If the FDA will not answer what they are doing, then someone needs to answer. Still say we void what the FDA is doing based on it being too damn confusing to understand.

I called the number right after I received the email from CASAA and I got a person on the phone who took all my information down and supposedly was sending my comments to her superiors. I welcome a call and someone to explain why they consider my vaping with ZERO Nicotine a Tobacco Product?

They already have warning labels! Keep the plastic bag away from small children and not for internal use or human consumption. Those are just off the top of my head.........

Calling the FDA to ask them questions about this is like calling your executioner to ask what kind of rope he's going to use on you.
exactlly...it's like calling your senator or congressman....they have nothing but contempt for the people...they see use as human cattle, and if we don't destroy them they will slaughter us.....again.
